<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheDream_43</b></div><div>Definitely lots of variables with young guys. Kerfoot is probably just a depth luxury the team can't afford next season. Mik asked out last year for ice time issues, which though have increased I definitely see the hoping for a bigger role with a team next year. I like the player, so wouldn't be opposed to resign at a low #.

Also, hoping the Oilers can figure out the depth issue over there. The core is insane and it's almost annoying to watch even from the outside how they haven't put it together. A few tweaks to the depth, plus a goalie could make that team a dreadful matchup for 7.</div></div>

Ah I see. Yah Kerfoots 3.5M is definitely not helping. I forgot Mikheyev asked out… yah he will probably leave. I think they could make it past the first round this, and years to come. If Kerfoot was making less, I would say keep him, but 3.5M while you are tight against the cap is hard to work around.

I’m also hoping the oilers can too. It’s upsetting that we are not in a playoff spot, but we have won two in a row now, so maybe we can start winning again. It’s a easy fix for the oilers, but Holland won’t do anything till the off-season. We definitely need better depth, a starter, and I would like a top 4 right shot defence man as well. After that, I think both of our teams could be very good next year even! Conference finals matchup: Oilers vs Leafs… I would love to see that!

It was nice talking to you, and having discussion about the teams! Have a good one.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheDream_43</b></div><div>As a Leafs fan, I can tell you Smith probably isn't as bad as it looks. He's good with you guys and players love him. I wasn't a huge fan but I feel as though a lot of it was the Babcock dynamic as I live in Windsor and watched him coach much differently. He'd fit the Sens for the 3 years he's signed and likely move on afterward, Roy wouldn't exactly be the greatest anyways. You'll have a few extra mill to spend on players now anyways since Melnyk probably has an internal cap for the whole operation.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>Smith is probably a better option than Roy for this young, fast team. I agree with the MelnykOut sentiment, but I believe them when they say it wasn't a money thing.

Still don't think it was the right Choice, (I really wanted Brad Shaw) but it's probably good they're going with someone new and with a fresh perspective.

I'm willing to reserve my judgment on the staff changes until we have a new POHO. we'll know pretty quickly if they're hiring someone who will actually do the job right, and keep the owner's worst impulses in check, or if it will be another in a long line of yes men. I'm really Hoping for Ron Francis. He's a smart man, and he won't take **** from anybody.</div></div>

Ya I don’t think anything changes in Ottawa til they get another owner buffer in place like Murray must have been, Francis could be a good call, he quietly built a nice squad in Carolina, that one could argue in as good of shape as Tb, light a superstar or two. I’m not second guessing smith, more than what I am guessing is a trial run to a better gig for him, and development assignment. Ottawa’s not doing enough to turn the corner
