Make a damn deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheGuyInTheChair</b></div><div>Kinda hard to get a fair trade when every team knows you have to make a move. I think sending down Smith for at least the first week or two until the market changes is an option they should explore. You never know a team might have an injury the first week and then need a guy like Joseph or Ruhwedel but losing them for nothing just isn't an option</div></div>
Other teams might have injuries once the season starts so it would be harder to pass POJ and Ruhwedel through waivers in a few weeks than today when the waiver market will be flooded and teams have to be careful with their roster and cap limits for opening night.

We’d have the depth to have them play in Tanev’s spot when he goes down with injury. But it’s just an idea. I would bring ZAR back before Tanev though. But having Tanev back would be really great

Also worth mentioning I’m a huge fan of how Colorado and Florida have acquired talent in recent years. I could c Jost being the next Bennet type player. I also think it’s inevitable Gurianov joins the avalanche lol

I’m not disagreeing but I also think Jost’s struggles had a lot to do with his usage on a stacked Avs team. I could c him figuring it out if he is the right situation.

I agree, he is familiar with the team and city and would probably like a shot at the cup. Plus you could keep Compher and the depth pieces who would be useful in season to keep helm and Cogliano fresh

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Imagine875948</b></div><div>Its not that weak when you think about it. Smith has NHL experience and led all defenseman in points his rookie year.</div></div>
Just think that Smith isnt a solid 3LD and JPO isn;t solid as 2LD. Petry is coming off a real bad year, and the age of Letang and Petry might require a stronger defensive corps as a whole. Pettersen isnt a great dman but hes a better option at 2LD than either of the youngsters
And acquiring UFA to be Kane, is really a last chance at the okay corral.

My bet is on POJ as a throw in for a deal to help the bottom-6</div></div>
I think pettersson is a great partner for petry. He Is the perfect defensive defensemen outside of a lack of physicality, which Petry makes up for. Petry can jump up in the play while pettersson stays back, once the opponent has control in our zone petry can be the physical presence.

Also, there was a rumor that we reportedly offered Pettersson and Blueger to the Habs for Petry straight up and the Habs declined.
Side note: Calgary probably accepts? Not sure tbh. Also, McGinn isn’t gonna be moved.</div></div>
Hunter Hodies on his podcast said he's been DM'ing with someone in the Pens organization, same person who said the Pens initial Petry offer and apparently very reliable, said Hextall would like to trade for a winger for Geno then slide Zucker down to third line.

The offseason I wanted
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheGuyInTheChair</b></div><div>Zucker-Geno-Rakell is not a bad 2nd line. I think Nylander isn't getting enough attention as a possible option for the middle 6 also. I brought it up because I don't think the team will move obviously but its gonna be hard to draw fans in this city when you don't have two generational talents on the roster and the team is middling at best.</div></div>
That line is… ok and nothing more. Zucker is hurt most of the season so banking on him for 82 is whizzing into the wind. Rakell worked well with Sid but not with Geno. If they don’t click then we are probably moving Rust down and Rakell up. It’s not a bad idea but it would absolutely suck to break up one of the best lines in the league.
Nylander and Puustinen will likely both get some looks in 2nd or 3rd line roles. That’s a good idea. I have that built into the team I made in this ACGM too. Where I’m not happy is the idea of not adding an experience winger like Vatarano via UFA or Brown via trade. We don’t have the cap space to get another winger, especially if they bring back Kapanen, which also would be a mistake.
“its gonna be hard to draw fans in this city when you don't have two generational talents on the roster and the team is middling at best.“
That day is coming when 87 hangs it up. That I can all but guarantee you. Then the question becomes what do you want to be… a bad team in a rebuild with high picks… or a team that is stuck in the middle? I can answer that with a rebuild is always preferred to having no direction. I’ll pick on a couple teams that seems to be “stuck” in Philly and Winnipeg out west.
Philly is definitely not good, but they also won’t rebuild and as a result they’re going to suffer until they get off the pot and accept that a rebuild is their only option. Winnipeg seems set on being a middle of the road up and down team with no real sense of direction. They went out and hired an old school coach who isn’t known for bringing along younger players. Now they’ll be stuck like Philly, with a seasoned coach who’s in win now mode but a roster that’s beyond subpar. I’d much rather be where Chicago is or Montreal than be where those teams are because then you have hope. A franchise needs hope. The reason we even have a team to root for is because back in the year of my birth 66 was drafted and forever changed the fortunes of this franchise. The Pens clearly wanted to be awful back then just like they clearly wanted to be awful circa 2004. No we can’t bank on having a special talent every generation to save us, but draft in the top 3-6 spots a few times and a smart franchise will be back to a playoff team. I think we’ve more than established ourselves as that kind of elite franchise now.

i hear you but larson is a shutdown 4th line guy and zar is always hurt. i just dont think bringing the whole band back together is a great idea. Dumo only has 1 year left which mitigates the risk
