Interesting that you felt the need to add a 3rd considering how valuable Lindholm on that contract would be to the Avs.

Knowing how the Flames operate I could see them doing something like this. We like staying mediocre and this would do just that.

Tkachuk Trades For 5 Teams
Wild trades. I think you got too many pieces on the move in all the trades. Teams don't usually give up 3 roster players + prospects and picks for 1 player.

Bad deal for the flames. Devils gonna have to pay more than that for this deal to make sense. Tkachuk fits our window, these guys dont.

Could be up to 30+M for those 4 players. That's not even filling in the rest of the roster yet. Also yes you can go over during the offseason, what do you do at the start of the season?</div></div>
Yeah but Gaudreau is the first domino to fall and all those other guys are under team control as rfas. Kylington and Mangiapane can start the season unsigned if need be. And plus monahan is recovering from injury so who knows if he on LTIR to start the season. Yeah we need the cap space but saying its a 1st for Gaudreau and that we would be letting him walk without even trying couldnt be more wrong. If he walks its because he wants to go elsewhere, It doesnt come down to money, simple as that. The 1st that we would be giving away is to fill out the roster and make sure our rfas are playing at the start of the season. Has nothing to do with johnny.

No its not. Calgary has $27m in cap space right now which is plenty to sign Gaudreau. Idk why having $38m instead of $27m would be the difference between gaudreau signing or not. Oh and you can spend 10% over the cap in the offseason so add another $8m. How is this a 1st rnd for Gaudreau???

We have a backup goalie and he only makes $750k. And if something happens to him we have the best goalie in the ahl to step in at $800k.

Just a slight correction not that it matters a whole lot, but in case you are curious. He isn't actually ahead of schedule in terms of recovery from this surgery. He had the same surgery on his other hip last summer and relative to that timeline he is ahead. Last year he had the surgery in mid May whereas this year he had it in early April. Still good news tho as he was slightly limited at training camp last yr and was held out of preseason games because of it and hopefully that wont be the case this yr.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JamCam</b></div><div>Not sure I agree... even though we're going to need Mony's money off the book s next season to re-sign 13, 19, 58m and 88, we're still going to need a decent middle-six center. The two million difference doesn't seem like a lot, but a serviceable Dvorak in Mony's place could be huge.</div></div>
The $2m isnt enough. Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Mangiapane and Kylington will get a combined raise well over $2m so we need more money. Ruzicka will play the 3rd line center role next season and him at $1m or less is much better than Dvorak at $4m+. Sutter said himself at his presser yesterday that if Ruzicka is gonna play the 4th line center role than he might as well play in Stockton so he is going to play 3rd line. With our cap situation we need to make use of these cheaper contracts.

Calgary fun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joblow</b></div><div>It cost Toronto a first round pick to get rid of Marleau deal. I assume that anyone who will be taking on Monahan deal without sending back money will ask for a huge haul. At least if they trade for Dvorak who is a very solid 2nd/3rd centerman gave Calgary depth at probably the most important position in hockey. They also would save 2 millions in cap space which would help them a lot. But if they can find a deal to unload Monahan contract then it would be the beat option. But you would still be a center short.</div></div>
Marleau was also 40yrs old and making pretty much the same that monahan is now except monahan is only 27 so its a bit different. I think it would only cost us a 2nd rnder cuz his buyout aint even that bad. Either way my point was that we need all the $6m in space for our upcoming FAs so cant take the dvorak contract even if hed be a good 3rd line center for us. Wed be better off buying Monahan out cuz then his cap hit is only $2m. Not really a center short either cuz we got Ruzicka who has been solid for us in the middle 6 and Richardson can easily play the 4th line center role.

Theres no point in offloading Monahan’s contract if you are taking on Dvorak’s. We need all that money off the books.

I dont really know what you mean by this cuz trade blocks arent really a thing. Yeah some guys are known as being more available than others but usually teams outside the playoffs are taking calls on a lot of their players. Its not like in video games where you add the players you want to trade to a list that all the gms can see and then you only get offers involving those players.

Take a look at the coleman trade a couple yrs back. That was foote and a 1st so this ask is very reasonable. Maybe take out one of the picks going to colorado but thats it. You gotta lower your expactations if you think montreal gets a lot more than this.
