It's not Kreider going anywhere. Put your focus on Namestnikov, and stop sending him to Montreal.

Rumours that CGY and NYR are Talking LAK
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SmugTkachuk</b></div><div>I have seen a couple things on Twitter and a few comments on here. None speculate anything just that they are talking.</div></div>
The teams you are correct on, but only a couple of the players are the subject of a potential trade: Strome and Brodie.
It actually happens to be a potential three-way deal involving these teams. Allow me to swap Kreider for Namestnikov in this case, for starters; Brodie and Jankowski are potential pieces going from Calgary, while Los Angeles could put Toffoli into this deal.
There are a few ways this can swing--Calgary has been stockpiling defensive prospects and need a spot or two on the point for them to crack the lineup.
Los Angeles could use more prospects to build from--and with nearly $10 million in cap space, and a lone RFA to sign (Kempe, who likely signs a similar deal to Kapanen), they can add via trade.
The Rangers do intend to shed payroll, open a roster spot for a young player or two, and get back a player who points them squarely at a playoff run while "building".

That Rangers deal is incredibly one-sided. Strome for Jankowski is a more fair deal, and fits your top six need better.

You are on to something, with this proposal. I'm purely guessing; but I believe Tkachuk will want over $9 million..and he has a solid argument to make for that number (alongside of his agent). Also, there's Rittich to re-sign which will be a solid price..so I think the Flames will need roughly $13 million to meet their goals.
Brodie coming to the Rangers would be fine; but, it prompts an additional flip. So, I'm suggesting your proposal includes a third team with cap space and a need (think Minnesota or Montreal, for example).

Sorry..but you have wayyyy overthought this. While trading Namestnikov is the right move, trading Buchnevich is absolutely wrong. As a Ranger fan, I invite you to take another swing at this. Perhaps choose a different team to trade with, and don't grasp at straws.

Good job with the trades, and tucking in the RFAs with the exception of DeAngelo; he will not get a higher dollar AAV than Buch. The purpose will be to keep cap space available for any moves to be made in-season.

The Canadiens are not hunting for cap relief. A Matt Duchene signing is going to eight years, and at least $10 million; easy pickings for Montreal.

No, as a Tatar acquisition means the Rangers need to move other players in fit him into the lineup. Plus, with young players to add to their lineup, the Rangers have excess "veteran" forwards that are going to be moved.

Shattenkirk to Arizona
AZ isn't doing that deal, and with the expansion draft coming up, this move is moot as the Rangers will need someone to offer Seattle.
You might be better served sending both Namestnikov and Vesey to LA together.
Strome might serve you well to hang on to; as well as he played in the second half of the season, that may roll over into the upcoming season.
Smith may not require a third round pick to be moved to Ottawa.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hero9154</b></div><div>I must be missing the great prospect...all i see is 3 spare parts and 2 picks for Kreider and Strome. With that said, I would do Kreider for the 2020 Edmonton first and maybe a conditional 3rd or something like that if he resigns.</div></div>
I was fixing to tell him, but you beat me to it. Thank you.
Here's the truth: Oiler fans were clamoring to get Strome back, once Quinn fixed whatever was lacking in his game while he was IN EDMONTON! Kreider has been on their minds since McDavid showed the kind of speed he really has, and are hoping to pair them up along with Draisitil.
By dumping three salaries our way, this becomes the equivalent of having their cake and eating it, too, in this proposal.
The Rangers' rebuild is much further along than many realize. Adding fodder only makes a mess. Sorry, no thanks.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Klm751</b></div><div>Keep in mind kreider is wildly inconsistent and only a 50 point winger, zucc was a 50 point winger and got a 2nd and a 3rd at the deadline, does kreider being younger and for a whole year rather than at the deadline really increase his value beyond what that trade is giving up?</div></div>
Comparing Kreider and Zuccarello, both as players and as trade chips is comparing apples and carburetors. Only Dallas's falling short of the WCF didn't turn their '19 2nd into a first. Once Zuccarello decides to stay, their '20 3rd becomes a first; the Rangers get another first to maneuver with. Worth the wait.
Kreider has developed a much better skating style, which leads him to more shots, better scoring opportunities, and leads to less minutiae and more positive possession of the puck and in play. His numbers will continue to improve, playing in Quinn's system; as did many of the Ranger forwards by season's end. Acquiring him now actually hurts your Oilers, because he could use more seasoning in this system to be more effective in yours.
What do I mean? Case in point: Mika Zibanejad and Ryan Strome. Because both players got more ice time and opportunity to work in this system, their growth could've been more evident. Zibanejad churned out a 70 point season while juggling forwards during the year. His focus on being in the system led to a season, where if the team had been better and others in the league hadn't had better overall performances, likely makes him a Hart candidate.
Strome, came back from the dead; he was an absolute corpse in Edmonton. A handful of points before his trade to NYR--arrives, the first month was an adjustment. He gets going in December, and was right there with Zibanejad, Kreider, Zuccarello (before the trade) and Chytil in terms of offense.
Stop trying so hard to convince yourself, that what you're hoping for Ken Holland to fleece Gorton into a horrid deal.

Yikes alleged PIT deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>? I'm not criticizing the reporters... I'm criticizing the deal since it makes no sense on our end. I love Phil Kessel the player, but this team is in dire need of a rebuild and even if we added Kessel I can't see us magically becoming a team primed to go on a deep cup run. My point with the title is that adding a 31 year old 90p winger doesn't make sense to me.</div></div>
You were criticizing the person who first started the thread.. until you had a means to confirm the report, you were just about on a plane to Pittsburgh to find him/her and turn them sideways.
Anyway, while it is a bad deal for both teams, it's an understood deal (should it go through). All of the cap hits fit the upcoming season (though Pitt is shedding some necessary dead weight and clearing room for someone else).
Minn is trying to align their wings while hoping lightning can strike twice with Kessel, the way it did with Staal.
Both teams need to retool; this is a different manner, without tearing the whole thing down. At actually clears the way for Donato to play center, so that's one benefit. Gives Beldeppio a defensive-minded partner, which allows him to be the offensive point man of the pairing.. two benefits.
Just saying.

Good, YOU take that deal--meantime, the Rangers will respectfully decline. As a Ranger fan, this is not a worthwhile deal in the least. This is asking Walmart to pay Kmart's employees. No thanks.

The Devils, along with Carolina, have the lowest payrolls/cap assignments in the league. Horton would fit their cap without denting it--with only this coming season remaining on his contract, his cap hit isn't damaging to the Devils at all. In fact, it will help them stay above the cap floor. The addition of Zaitzev, though, is the opportunity to get out from under his deal. Still doesn't hurt New Jersey, and they have more than enough room to fit Zaitzev, without hindering future deals with Hall and Hischer.

NYR trades w Tor and Fla
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Noah93</b></div><div>Actually yesterday on a livestream someone asked Panarin if Hefner like to play with dadanov in Florida and Panarin said Florida has no fans and rumours are rangers and Chicago are on top of the list so I think there’s a chance.
Kreider is so inconsistent and he’s gonna want a 7 mill contract for 6 years and rangers should stay away from that, he’s way to inconsistent he’s been hurt for the last two years and a small portion of the year before, it’s time to go young yes Ik you still need veterans but with two good drafts coming talent will be available. I love Kreider but Gorton didn’t seem to confident when ask if he was going to resign him.</div></div>
Inconsistency in Kreider based upon what? This was a mostly healthy season from Kreider..the first since '15-'16. How does 28 goals on a rebuilding team equate to inconsistency? Gorton doesn't have to worry about Kreider, based on the seasons he's put together. I'm sorry, but it will be on Gorton to decide to re-sign him..not the other way around.
As for Panarin, I read that similar interview, and even if he has the Rangers and Hawks in mind, don't think for one second his agent isn't in his ear regarding Florida and playing for his old coach. They can just as easily move Dadanov and open the cap space up to make as much of an offer as possible for Panarin to join the Panthers. Do not underestimate GM Dave Tallon; as crafty as he was at getting Hoffman and moving Bjugstad, he can ship out more and sure up a Panarin grab to play alongside Barkov.
