<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>lamar1226</b></div><div>I believe that would be a very bad move. IMO they need to acquire younger players and more picks even if McQ and Skjei are working well together right now. Signing him will cost us a 7th pick as well. As for the trade I think Pollock will be pretty irrelevant for us to take. If possible we would rather settle on a 3rd round pick to move up from the 4th we lost in acquiring him.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>danzhock10</b></div><div>Though some of your point is accurate, the only issue I'd take with your reasoning is that the Rangers need Skjei to grow in his game further. If the Rangers do not build Skjei up, they will find themselves with a much bigger problem long-term. McQuaid is the example of the player the Rangers need to place with Skjei with, if it's their intent to build around him on defense. Those are a lot of years to deal, even for a 25 year-old. They need to get this one right; and if it MAY mean adding a season to McQuaid to make it so, it can be with it as the youth coming up isn't ready just yet, outside of Lindgren.

Players like Gilmour, O'Gara and Bigras are not the future of the franchise. Hajek, Miller, Lundqkist, Keane..they represent the future of the franchise on defense. But they will ALL need time to get here.</div></div>

I agree with you as well with trading McQuaid, but it does not seem in the rumor mill that NYR will receive anything more than a 3rd round pick or a 4th round pick &amp; a C+ prospect. So unless the return in trade is greater than that, probably pays to resign McQuaid, even if for two years.

FYI... I checked the Bruins page on this site few days ago and it finally" has the details of the conditional 7th round pick. If McQuai plays 25 games for NYR or is traded during the season, BOS receives NYR 2019 7th round pick.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>danzhock10</b></div><div>I'll take these one at a time:

If Fox wants to be a Ranger, he can refuse to sign a contract with Carolina, wait for the end of the off-season, and sign with the Rangers without compensation conflict. Trading Mats Zuccarello to a team who doesn't need his skill set, MAY only get you the draft pick (and I think you'd like to see him be more than a salary dump, if possible).

After October, I passed on the idea of trading Hayes to Winnipeg. They are a first-place team, with very few holes; everybody beat the dead horse idea of Winnipeg needing a second line center well beyond the typically accepted 8 feet under. Saying that, there are deals that Hayes and others can attract..that being IF Gorton wants to even move him at all.

While I would love to see Connor on the Rangers, I just can't see it happening in your Hayes' deal, without more being involved.

As for Chiarelli, I will not dispute his past transgressions; he only has one of the following two moves in his chess game: trading Draisatil for some depth, or trading McDavid for lots of depth and deciding that Draisatil is the option to build the team with.

Let's face it, EITHER move will be his last. But, let's not let him have his death sentence be served over Chris Kreider and Jesper Fast.</div></div>

Totally fair. Yeah I didn’t mean both Connor and Vesalainen one or the other. I honestly am not totally sure in value but just know that if Duchene does re-sign Hayes value should go up as one of if not the top center on the trade market.

Thread: going for 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>danzhock10</b></div><div>If Jeff Gorton has plans to deal, Chris Kreider isn't part of those plans. As I've said to others on this site, his and David Quinn's vision is to set up his lines as follows:

Power forward left wing-Two-way Center-Playmaking right wing (think Kreider-Chytil-Zibanejad, as an example)

Kreider is the model is the left wings Quinn has won with at BU (the Tkachuk brothers as a prime example). Physical with good speed (Kreider has speed to burn), great shot and leadership, on and off ice.

As of now, only Gettinger exudes any of those traits in the organization in terms of the wing; with the rumored players getting closer to being moved, he and Ryan Gropp are the only semblance of the left wings fitting this playing style.

The Rangers' future roster is missing a numbers of pieces. Deals to be made will be for wings and defensemen; but the framer, Gorton, will need to get it right.

Geisser is solid, but Burakovsky is a dud..pure and simple. Connor Hobbs is more of what the Rangers would be looking for. And, that's more like a Buchnevich trade.

Hope that's helpful.</div></div>

Bura isn’t a dud. He’s a very solid player... he needs to play for a franchise that will give him an opportunity in their top 6 and top pp. his shot is great and has pretty good hands. Hes the most nhl ready player the caps could offer that would immediately benefit the rangers and that would also help them 5 years down the road.

Hobbs would be hard to replace for the caps considering we have 8 lhd prospects and maybe 2 rhd.

Idk if anyone is going to offer much more than this for krieder. That’s not to say he isn’t good but he’s more or less a rental. I mean the Sens took less for brassard and at the time you could argue his value was higher than krieder is now.

But I appreciate your response gives me a little more understanding on why nyr fans might not like this deal
