NYR trades w Tor and Fla
This rush to trade Kreider for more picks or other players, has become monotonous. As much as people want to declare some new Red Army in Blueshirt blue, two things are NOT going to happen:
1. Artemi Panarin is not coming to the New York Rangers. As much as I am a die-hard fan, certain things are evident. Florida can trade assets to clear cap space, get more of a haul back to free both cap and roster space for his arrival, than the Rangers can.
2. As easy as it would seem to dump Kreider as a rental, it is easier to move both Vesey and Namestnikov for lesser returns than Kreider's trade value would command, in terms of a return.
With a much deeper draft expected in '20, plus the expansion draft to follow, it is not smart to shed every asset. You will still need a team to ice every night. Plus, no matter picks you get and subsequent draftees, not everyone will play for either the Rangers, the Hartford Wolfpack, or otherwise. There are only 50 contracts an organization can carry at a time. Bear this in mind, as all of you continue to "imagine" this roster.

On what planet does this sound realistic for either Jeff Gorton or Ken Holland? Hell, even Bob Gainey, the master of the Ryan McDonough-Scott Gomez trade, couldn't walk into a room much less a phone made of string and a tin cup, propose this deal with a string m straight face.
Wow!!

NYR Cap Dump Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>I'm not sure Edmonton would go for it either. JP and a 2nd is a pretty steep price to pay for $5M cap savings for just one year - especially when next year will be considered a transition year where they aren't trying to contend.</div></div>
The problem is, on the other side, the Rangers will be in contention. And now, trying to rummage through the East with aged Kyle Brodziak and Kris Russell is going to create more work for this front office.
Sam Gagner fits the style of the Oilers; as an offensive-minded team, having him at either forward spot on the third line is ideal. I know that prospects like Gambardella and McLeod are close, and they'll need roster space for them. But this will not do it.
Ottawa, who'll need cap hits to reach the floor, will be a better place to consider this trade..but not the New York Rangers.

$8.3 million in cap hits? Even with Vesey going the other way..then, Puljajarvi is to be re-signed not to mention our own RFAs to be re-upped?
Second rounder included or not, this isn't a good deal. This is a one-sided whitewash.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nfc</b></div><div>Do you know who Brett Pesce is? </div></div>
You must be the nimrod every body keeps warning me about?
No, enlighten me. Wait, I'll enlighten YOU instead. 2013 3rd round pick from Tarrytown, NY (66th pick overall)..right shot defenseman who the Rangers missed by not having a first or second round pick that draft. Instead they picked Anthony Duclair and Pavel Buchnevich in that round. Of course, then, the Rangers didn't need a defenseman at the time; and Pesce was still relatively raw at this point.
I guess the real question is, do YOU know Chris Kreider? While your smartaas response only shows you might think you have stones, you can easily get them hammered into dust by not knowing that a speedy power forward, who can shoot, pass and check is more than enough to garner a first round pick--in fact TWO (see Kane, Evander), shows you ain't close to meeting the price.
I like Pesce, but Kreider is undervalued by the nimrods like you on this site, who swear your little nerdboards matter at all.

I'll take Brett Leason at what will end up being #20, thank you. At worst, if Dallas comes through, I'll take Philip Tomasino at either #26 or #27.

Your first sentence says it all. Why you are handing Carolina Chris Kreider, is beyond me. And I don't want to hear about him being a pending UFA. Any one of five UFA forwards fits the bill. In fact, if you trade them Pionk, that also is giving them a player they have an abundance of in Charlotte.
Namestnikov, Day, and the Rangers' own (not the acquired) second round picks for the next two drafts, likely seals the deal.

Tidal Wave of PK Subban Rumors
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>I mean, you’re trading a rental and a cap dump for pk subban. Other teams will offer more. I feel like Toronto would offer Nylander, Zaitsev, and significant assets</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shakabakes</b></div><div>I felt the same way. But looking at some of the proposals, they are almost treating Subban as a Cap dump. Maybe it's just reactionary after getting eliminated. Figured I would go small and add on from there.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Real_FBGM_37</b></div><div>I feel like if you trade WPG 1st, Shattenkirk, Kreider, and your 1st next year, you are in the ballpark</div></div>
First things first.. Chris Kreider..no one should be referring to him as "just a rental", when next to Mika Zibanejad, he was the Rangers' best player. And since a number of these proposals have been about prying Kreider away, you cannot have your "rental" cake, and eat it, too.
The Rangers have cap room to fit a P.K. Subban without having to necessarily make a player swap to strike a deal. Nashville may want multiple assets or may want a cap dump in this case.
Honestly, it seems like more of a deal where Nashville will take help on their left wing (think Vesey, Namestnikov) at less cap cost, than taking more cap, even for one to two seasons.
Right now, Toronto is in a cap crunch; while they might want a Subban, giving Matthews and Tavares before him each $11+ million and Nylander a bonus ladened contract is giving them a fit, with them being to lock up so many others. Adding Subban would not be smart, even if Nashville ate 50% of the cap hit.
The Rangers face a roster crunch, as the kids are coming. The forwards in particular are going to get better quickly; Chytil, Andersson, Howden, Lemieux, Buchnevich..under the leadership of Zibanejad and Kreider: not to mention Kratsov, and either of Kakko or Hughes--that is nine forwards I've named. Strome makes ten. And, if Smith isn't moved, that's eleven.
Vesey, Namestnikov and, oh, by the way, Fast; which means 14.
My point is, reassess your look at the Rangers' roster, and try again.

Both the proposal and the counter are incorrect. If you move Pionk in any deal, it should be to MIN along with Namestnikov for a 2nd at the Draft. The follow-up move then is that pick to CAR for Fox.
Pionk needs ice time, going to CAR doesn't provide that. Keep this in mind in any future proposals you make.

That MacArthur deal doesn't require bringing back the player in return. They are under the cap floor; sending Smith without a player return works out for Ottawa.

Offseason Full Rebuild
Hate to disappoint, but none of this happens. Your Kreider deal is the one that WILL NOT happen, as the Predators have every intention of lining Tolvanen and Granlund on Turris' wings next season.
Kulikov for Claesson might be your lone deal that comes to fruition.
Keith Gretzky or whomever the future GM of Edmonton is, needs more than that; and, Shattenkirk isn't waiving his NMC for a deal to Canada, especially with a baby on the way.
While Toronto has a tough decision to make on their cap, they will not get ripped off by a deal like this..Zibanejad or not.
Neither of these deals, at the draft, in the offseason and otherwise, benefit anyone.

FYI--Dorion set the market for this. Chevy is in need of the center. Gorton is only meeting the supply, and using the base of the Duchene deal as the demand setting.
Are they the same player? No. But, is this the market as it is set? Yes. So, buck up, and deal with the reality.
