Edmonton Oilers signed Darnell Nurse (8 Years / $9,250,000 AAV)
Shot 3 times his normal sh%, played mostly with McDrai and his xGF% TANKED playing with anyone else, and his defensive partner (bear) who allowed him to play offensively is gone and now the teams only defensive dman is Kris Russell
What could go wrong?
I get it, you have to win now while McDrai are in their primes. However IMO this and the hyman contract and sealing their plane tickets out of Edmonton in 4 years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>grodziQ</b></div><div>this didn't age well, did it?</div></div>
Sure. The Sens finished the season remarkably well from the trade deadline on. They were also an entirely different team from the team the Sens had to start the year, which absolutely was the worst team in the division. They basically replaced half a roster's worth of ****ty do nothing Vets with young talented players. There was one Dman who was in the lineup opening night that was in the lineup to finish the season.
I don't think anyone said anything that wasn't true about the team as it sat on opening night. You can give a lot of credit to the young talent for really elevating the team once they got the reigns, you can even give credit to Dorion for doing an excellent job of cleaning up his messes and bringing in some quality talent mid season (Mete, Forsberg, Bishop, Amadio), but I don't think that makes anyone wrong for saying the ****ty team they opened the season with was ****ty.
Really excited to see where they go from here. There's a LOT to be excited about here, but they definitely need to learn from this season. If they just keep looking for the next Stepan/Gudbranson to fill out "vet leadership" instead of trusting in the young talent they won't take the meaningful step that they could. If they play the offseason right they could easily be a wildcard team next year.

For Detroit to take a center with the amount of really good LH defensemen he would have to be a #1 center.</div></div>
Next year is when you draft a centre. There’s at least 3 #1 centres available at the top of the draft

This is the year of the defencemen. Taking a long at LD, it doesn’t look too good. I’ll take a LD here. Then imagine getting your franchise centre next year between one of Wright, Lambert, Savoie.

Edvinsson really aint a top 10 guy anymore. I would avoid him unless u want a project.
Heard Power may be available due to someone from Sweden named Eklund making a strong case for 1OA
Detroit should look at Power or Hughes if they want defense

It's not often that you see three teams win in the same deal
Tampa Bay:Overpaid for a 3rd pairing defender, but they are defending stanley cup champs and are better now than when they won.
Detroit: This is quite obvious, got a mid round pick for taking cap when they have boat loads.
Columbus: Got a very good pick and a decent pick for a 3rd pairing defender that was likely going to walk in FA
Bravo to all 3 GMs
