Dahlin in O'Reilly out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gretzkyghosts</b></div><div>Do you know anything about Hockey? Any casual observer of the game and talent would see instantly that this team is much better than last year and the future looks even better with 3 first round picks next year. Take the sour grapes out of your eyes and look at this team. It has been upgraded at every position, LW, Defense, GK, RW (if Bailey can produce) even center with Mittelstadt for an entire season and Dubinsky and Berglund over Larsson and who?
Nice job, I think you could get more than a 4th for taking Dubinsky's contract. This team is greatly improved over last year's last place finish. I do not think they will be in the playoffs, but they will be in the hunt for at least the first 60 games.</div></div>
It's better, I'm not arguing, but we could do a lot better trading ROR, and sign players like Sobotka or Berglund UFA

Dahlin in O'Reilly out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMTD</b></div><div>Thank you so much for your insightful comments. I presume quality you are referencing is O'Reilly, because I certainly did not give away any quality in the trades that I proposed did I? The team finished last with O'Reilly, it will NOT finish last without him. By December we will all have forgotten about O'Reilly. I am certainly not saying this is a playoff team, but it is MUCH better than last year.
So you think Larsson is better than Dubinsky? You think last year's LW is better than this team's LW? You think last years defense is better than this team's defense? You think last year's GK is better than this team's defense? Over all you think O'Reilly, Eichel and Larsson at center is better than Eichel, Mittelstadt, Berglund and Dubinsky at center?</div></div>
Did the team take the last place without O'Reilly, or have you forgotten already? Larsson is exactly the same as Dubinsky, they are all garbage. We had Kane, of course he's better than Sheary and ERod, I like Sheary and ERod, but they're not Kane. Hunwick garbage, but it is a fact that you have it makes the second pairing Dahlin? I have no problems with the goal position, I like the Hutton - Ullmark tandem. I claim to Botteril only trade ROR, and not the trade Shary or the signing of Hutton. Berglund and Sobotka are absolutely average players, Yes, they will increase our depth, but we could sign up in a free Agency of exactly the same players and not trade ROR for them. The Eichel - ROR - Mitts - Rodrigues center would be much better than the current center.

Botterill won't think of that. It would be better if he traded the ROR completely for futures

Confused....
He did somehow manage to record 17 goals in 57 games. Over 82 games, that would put him on pace for a career-best 24 goals. The Blues, who only had three 20-goal scorers last season, wouldn’t seem to be in a position to abandon another potential contributor.
And yet Berglund recorded only nine assists. Of those nine, seven were primary assists. Of those seven, only three were assists on goals scored by forwards.
Of those three, only one - a single goal by Alexander Steen against Columbus on March 24th - was a pass. The other two were deflections.
Patrik Berglund, ostensibly a center, passed the puck to a forward in a manner that resulted in a goal exactly one time over the full course of an NHL season.
Contenders have to demand more production of their players. And the Blues have to demand that Berglund accepts a ticket out of town.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>You don’t, they were just cap dumps by Blues but they will be 2nd liners for you.
Thompson is a solid prospect. 1st and 2nd round picks. Those were the 3 biggest assets you aquired. And once again...got out from under paying 7.5m bonus.
Lol, you were a bottom 5 team next year with ROR. Not saying that to be cruel it’s just the way it is. You have a couple really good players and a lot of holes, filled with players that are’nt much better than AHL lifer type. It’s much better to realize that and build off Eichel, Dahlin, Reinhart, Okposo, Mittlestadt and stockpile picks to build around them than to struggle for mediocrity.</div></div>
Thompson is the average prospect, he's not Thomas or Kyrou.
We were in last place without Dahlin, Mittelstadt and Guhle who would surely make the team this year, we needed to just get rid of the garbage, not trade their second best player for the average players and the end of the first round.

O'Reilly has been available for months. I'm pretty sure Botterill knows what he is doing more than the guys on message boards.</div></div>
I don't see any logic in this deal. We change the ROR which is 27 years old, for two players 30+ with contracts for 2 and 4 years for 3+ M and the average prospect. 2019 1st is likely to be late, 2021 is generally some garbage.

I don't know. MTL and NYI reporters were saying mostly the same thing. Regardless, I think ROR gets moved. Maybe we revisit this post in a couple hours lol</div></div>
I know what they were saying. But after that, I saw Botterill's interview with his own eyes, where he said the deal wasn't close. Maybe Montreal wanted to trade Pacioretty to you, 11 or 12, and offer 11 or 12+++ for ROR, but Botterill was not going to accept this offer.

You have the wrong information. Our GM said the deal wasn't even close before the draft or during the draft, so he wouldn't go. GM's MTL and STL also said the price is very high and they can't afford the ROR

Thomas = Mittelstatd. Full of examples, where the player in the AHL shows good results, and to gain a foothold in the NHL can not. I do not understand, we are again going to take the last place? To trade ROR for futures.
