Leafs 2022 offseason
Neither jackets or leafs do that deal. We don’t need kampf and the leafs definitely need kampf.
Robinson for holl and a second. We eat a bad contract and you get a solid bottom 6 speedy forward.

While I don’t defend giving that contract, and don’t think lilj is worth that, is he not a prime target to offer sheet? Right shot defenseman. Young and we have cap space. Fills a lot of needs.

No not bracco!! The classic packages with bracco and a second for a top four right shot defenseman. Good times.

True, however that price becomes too steep. I’d do boqvist without the first rounder if that’s better but not both.
So a package of boqvist and texier for Miller extended. 8.5x7 years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Civil_Eng_PE</b></div><div>I'd rather keep Miller IMO. Way better fit for the team right now when compared to Nylander.
But also I'd swap Boqvist in for Tex and keep Christiansen. Maybe add in a Bemstrom</div></div>
If boqvist goes in then we probably pass on Miller. We’re not going to trade a position of weakness, especially when the player is young, for a player with an expiring contract, who could be had in the off-season for free.

I think it makes sense for the jackets, only if Miller is extended as part of the deal. Also we’d need to keep Miller. As he’s a center and that’s exactly what we are looking for.
The Nylander part doesn’t make sense tho. We need centers and defenseman and Willy only has 2 years left and probably wouldn’t resign.
Also I completely understand wanting the youth to play, but Gus had 50 points last year after like 4 points in the first 20 games. No shot he’s in the press box.

Does a trade up make sense
Probably not enough enticement to get cbj to move back. We need centers and right shot defenseman and we’re guaranteed one of those at 6. At 10 it’s much less. And the quality wouldn’t be the same either.

Trade OEL
Or columbus doesn’t trade a package that gets Miller for Horvat and keeps their assets. That works out too in an oel trade.

Dipping into FA
This is exactly the target we should be going for a short term right shot defenseman who is gonna cost less than 3 million. I really want Ilya lybushkin (sorry for spelling). But he seems to have a home with Morgan Reilly so that’s unlikely.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>josi4norris</b></div><div>Don't get me wrong, it's not a good offer for CBJ, but you only have to go back one season and Tolvanen was out producing Laine. I wouldn't say him and a first alone are necessarily "spare parts", not to mention a 2nd and a close to NHL ready bottom 6 guy. I understand Tolvanen has had a down year, but what if he were to bounce back just like Laine did this year? Again, not saying this even gets close to CBJ accepting (especially with Laine seeming to want to sign long term there), but I wouldn't consider it to be spare parts either. I'm not sure there are many offers out there that would move the needle for CBJ now that they've got a legit star forward that wants to be there.</div></div>
I respect your opinion, however why go to the only season Eli has done a thing in the nhl. Compared to laine who literally had the worst season of what will probably be his entire career. We shouldn’t judge a player at their worst or their best. And a career high 22 points in 40 games isn’t exactly the earth shattering numbers to be considered a needle mover for laine. He’s the same age. (Drafted one year later). I’m sorry but Eli has gone from the best prospect outside of the nhl to a middle six contributor.
To the spare parts thing, I would disagree. Everything has tiers. Laine would be considered a complementary piece in a McDavid trade. So a late first or Eli would be considered complementary pieces in a laine trade. Spare parts, complementary pieces, same difference just one sounds nastier and may have slightly less value.
(Edit, is he scratched right now? )

Laine takes a discount after having a point per game season? And jackets accept a trade for laine for a bunch of spare parts? No chance on either happening.

If I’m the wild I ask for a cuelemans level prospect. Not a foudy or Bemstrom. Dumba is a solid top 4 defender who is in his prime. A first level prospect and a second is a good counter.
