EDM needs a goalie
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DontTradeDougie</b></div><div>I think literally any goalie in the league is an upgrade on what edm has</div></div>
A 0.892 sv% combined over this season and last really doesn't sound like an improvement, especially when he costs even more than Campbell.

One trade
Why would Edmonton give up a young stud dman for the single worst dman in his own zone in the NHL and a goalie with a .871 SV% while not even fully getting out of Campbell’s contract?

One trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rajvinder</b></div><div>100% depends on Holland. He does have a rep for giving up on young guys quickly. We are at 3 games where a Bouchard turnover led to the GWG. What will his position be when that hits 5 or 7.</div></div>
Didn't even notice the retention on Campbell. There's just absolutely no way. If things start to go well for either Skinner or Samsonov, the wouldn't even have the money to give them a raise. Likewise, for Klingberg.
Really doesn't make any sense to go for the older, more expensive, worse defensively player with less term who is also a turnover machine. Bouchard has 8 takeaways and 9 turnovers, while Klingberg has 5 takeaways and 8 turnovers. Holland has been pretty patient with Puljujarvi, Yamamoto, Holloway, and Broberg and unlike the first two who have been give up on, Bouchard has carved out a role for himself. So, if he does give up on him it's definitely not to bring in Klingberg.

Would EDM Accept
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>I personally think the oilers would want more of a game changer if Akey was going the other way. That being said I certainly could see the oilers being willing to counter offer with a forward prospect instead.</div></div>
That’s fair. With the little cap space EDM has I figured their options are limited

Tough choices
I think Columbus would absolutely take that, but probably at the TDL and not right this minute. We're still figuring out what this team is, and Ros has been playing well as our only right-shot center. I imagine Edmonton wants to sort some things out too before making moves...

Since we are all doing Oilers trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rajvinder</b></div><div>Domi is a better fit for your forward group. He is a playmaker to complement the goalscoring you have. He can play C or LW/RW.
Team has been called out a few times this year for being soft, McCabe solves that.
Timmins replaces Bouchard. If he can stay healthy he likely puts up a 65+ point pace. He had 6 points in 3 preseason games and was on a 50 point pace with no PP time playing 3rd pair last year.
Plus the deal clears some cap for you (equal but you get an extra roster player) and a 2nd.
Let's say that spare player now is Broberg. You have about $1M in free cap + Broberg and this 2nd to upgrade someone else like Kulak, Kane, etc.
So it's a table setting in that it plugs a bunch of holes and gives you assets to make a big move.</div></div>
I laughed when you said Timmins and 65 points in the same sentence
Edmonton laughs this trade out of the room

Go talk to the Blackhawks if this is the type of trade you're looking for. They've got the cap space, they've got the PLENTY of Boninos and Pitlicks. They're interested in making TDL deals too.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>It's good thinking. Considering oilers cap situation and the known relationship between gms I could see Detroit being in the middle of whatever Holland does do. Maybe the ask from Columbus drops in the coming days and something very similar to this could happen.</div></div>
I could see that trade being a second and a later pick but I just went closer to what the asking price was as to not get too much slack from either side.

Yet he has posted a positive GF% Rel in 9 of 10 seasons. That tells us that he's NOT a liability. Edmonton won't pay to move a 60-point RHD who is making just $4.5M - that's just crazy talk.

Habs Trade Deadline
Take the way most Habs fans react to EDM fans sending Barrie to them ("it's gonna cost you" and "we have no need") and double it to get how EDM fans feel about Hoffman. He's actually what many Habs fans think Barrie is (a net negative and a cap burden). Now, add the fact that EDM's cap situation and that Puljujarvi is still viewed as an asset with value and you'll understand why that trade makes no sense at just about every level of analysis aside from "Hoffman scores goals".

Resigning two key RFAs at 85 million Cap
Guaranteed Holland bridges Bouchard and McLeod at much lower AAV's and then isn't forced to make terrible trades to fit them in. Then he re-signs them 3 years later with a $92M cap and all the dead money off the books.

No from Edmonton. Savard is terrible, his poor skating has only gotten slower as he ages. He can't defend the rush because of it. Honestly Barrie is better at defending now (and a million times better offensively).

23 draft load up lottery No Coots additions
I like Provorov, I am nowhere near his biggest hater. But, I don't know about that return honestly. I agree with the person who said its probably not EDM to do this since they have Nurse. I'd be more looking at like LAK, DET, maybe even ANA. But I also wonder, is he really worth two 1sts? Then again, Seth Jones got two 1sts. For TK, if you think Pelletier would be as good as TK to put him there, then why would Calgary do this move? Why don't they save the cap and just use Pelletier? I think the return is fine in a vacuum but for their sake, they are trying to win now and good talent on ELC realllllllly helps. Finally, what is this Flyers team's goal in your eyes? I would say with the moves you made, they're looking to win the division. Is that the right plan? They have been surprising us so far this year. Why Horvat at LW and not Gauthier? They are a natural C and LW respectively.

FYI Ryan is a lot better at faceoffs, just bring him back at $775k.

Barrie is a perennial 50 point RHD who had a net positive effect in 8 of the past 9 years, and is doing it again this season. There aren't any other defensemen in the league who can say the same for less than Barrie's $4.5M.

Just don't see any incentive here from Edmonton's perspective. JP is the better player with a higher ceiling.
