That's fine.
Don't want the Devils to trade for him to begin with.

Way too much for DeBrincat.
Either Holtz or #2 pick should be enough, certainly not trading both of them.

That's just not close for Bratt.
Add Raymond and it might make sense.
You can keep Wheeler.

Devils shouldn't consider any of these.
Bratt's pretty much elite, have to keep him at all costs.

Try OS Oettinger for 8.2m instead.
Dallas might match but at least Oettinger will sign the thing instead of your lowest of lowball offers.

Draft Slaf Sign Johnny Clean up the depth Win Finally
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FesteringMutant</b></div><div>You make a good point, this is just the scenario if they did sign him. I'm OK with avoiding a deal with him if you're going to make a move for another top 6 forward. That being said, he wouldn't have to carry this team because there are 4 or 5 other young players that are going to be leaders on the team/already are.</div></div>
I agree with this sentiment overall, there’s so much talent at forward on the team in the present with a ton more of interesting prospects joining in.
This is why I see no point in trading for the biggest available names nor targeting JG or Forsberg in free agency.
Better to target the multiple viable options at forward that doesn’t screw the Devils in terms of the cap when Holtz, Mercer, Luke Hughes etc are through their ELCs.
Nichushkin, Marchment or Burakovaky are some of my preferred options.

Once again asking the mods of CapFriendly to suspend Montreal AGMs until after the draft.
Trends like these actively kill the community on here.

Complete Rebuild - Moving DeBrincat and Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OGap12</b></div><div>2nd overall is no where near enough. It’s going to take an overpay for the hawks to even consider trading him. They are in control on a deal</div></div>
That’s fine.
I’d prefer the Devils steer far clear of trading for any big name winger this offseason (DeBrincat, Fiala etc).
Rather just try and sign someone like Marchment, Nichushkin or Copp in FA ahead of making a ridiculously expensive trade the Devils don’t need to make.

Siegenthaler is pretty much untouchable, can’t really envision any scenario where he’d be traded for a winger (albeit a very good one).
The #2 pick should be enough for DeBrincat anyways.

For a team like the Devils, the #2 pick or Mercer alone are worth more than the entire package sent by Canucks.
No chance they’d consider that.

Gusev actually had one really decent season.
Very surprised with the way he just fell off for that 2nd year.

Go higher AAV and shorter term on Kadri.
Like 8m + for three years.

Trade Idea
Seems heavily lopsided for Calgary.
One fantastic player is not worth the same as one of the best already drafted shooters in the world + the #2 pick + a serviceable middle sixer + 6.4m in cap relief.
It's not the right approach for the Devils anyways, they should build one more year before considering moving any top prospects or 1st rd picks.

Leafs 2022-23
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jaok3</b></div><div>Lol, now you are getting cared away</div></div>
I'm really not.
Holl has pretty much no value when multiple equivalent 3RHD are available, so from the perspective of a team that has made the post-season once since 11-12:
Severson (looking to extend w NJD) > Late 1st
Cooley (or #2 equivalent) for 10+ years >>> 2 years of Nylander
Cooley (or #2 equivalent) for 10+ years > 3 years of Marner
Bratt at 6.5 - 7.5m for 6+ years >>> 2 Years of Nylander
Bratt at 6.5 - 7.5m for 6+ years > 3 years of Marner
There's not a single good reason for the Devils to do OP's suggested trade.
Getting Nylander + late 1st + Holl for Bratt alone would be a bad trade for the Devils.
Trading Bratt + Severson + #2 pick for Nylander + Marner + late 1st would make the Devils marginally better in the short term but would long term cap them at the level of a middling team not being able to make it past the 1st or 2nd playoff rounds.
Like I said, add Marner and I still wouldn't want the Devils to do that trade.
It's the wrong move to make.

Idk man, can’t see that happening.
I take your point though, chances of him falling to the Devils are quite low.

Don’t see why that’d be the case.
Get Puljujärvi in at 22-23.
Let Slafkooley develop until 24-25.
If it were up to me, the only change in the forward lineup from this AGM to the next season would be trading two of Boqvist, Thompson and McLeod out and having (in this case) Slafkovsky drawing in:
Slafkovsky - Hughes - Sharangovich
Holtz - Hischier - Bratt
Gritsyuk - Mercer -Puljujärvi
Foote - Zetterlund - Marchment
Siegenthaler - Hamilton
Hughes - Severson
Mukhammadulin - Bear
Husso
Blackwood
