He's been a whipping boy over past 3 seasons for most Sabres' fans, who don't nearly appreciate him like Buffalo management and coaching does. Jokiharju will get extended this summer, not traded.

I could get on board if the trades were more realistic
But i think we all know that Adams isn’t gonna make this many moves….
Maybe a center, RD & vet goalie…. MAYBE
Bc that might even be a stretch

Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksnOilers</b></div><div>What room is there for either of them? Krebs doesn't have any room in the middle 6 at all and Jokiharju doesn't have any room in the bottom 4. Both of these guys are going to be RFA's and teams will know Buffalo has no space for either of them so why would they pay top dollar when they can just wait for them to be on open market? Krebs just isn't good enough to be a 3C on a playoff contending team like the Sabers want to be (Adams job might depend on it) so he won't fit there and there needs to be room for Johnson so play so Jokiharju won't have a spot either</div></div>
But even when there isn’t room with organizations, teams still seem to get appropriate value for their assets. A team would have to pay that price as they both are decent enough assets that there will be more than 1 suitor for each. They each can be a secondary piece within a bigger trade, not useless picks. ****, the corpse of Eric Johnson just pulled a 4th and he’s significantly worse than Joki, like in every way possible except for that one time he got dragged into a SC win with the Avs. Add in both play premium positions, selling low just doesn’t make sense

Big Offseason
Seems like an easy- and obvious- “No” from the Sabres
We have depth on the wing & more coming soon
Jokiharju is our best RD
And with Clifton being the only other RD we have,
we can’t trade Joker unless he’s replaced
Rakell just isn’t what we’d need in return

Not with that Cap hit / lack of scoring
Sabres pass imo if u guys want “value” for him
There’s been Seattle fans on here trying to dump him for cheap
Frankly, i doubt we’d even give u Krebs for him

I'm pretty sure for 8 x $5,500,000 Casey Mittelstadt would still be in Buffalo. I doubt you get him any cheaper than 8 x $6,500,000 or 8 x $7,000,000 he's going to get paid.

Also UPL is like 100x better why not just re-sign him lmao
If I was the Sabers I'd 100% hire Gallant if he's available, the goal of this team should be just make the playoffs and he is exactly what they need for that

He is obviously not agreeing to that.</div></div>
Isn't he from St. Catherines? Like dude chose Buffalo specifically to be as close to his family as possible without being a Leaf. He's not going <em>anywhere</em>.

On the cost alone, I don't think it would cost more. Boone's peak value was this past trade deadline when he still would have been on the acquiring team for 3 playoff runs. I think his value just goes down from now on as the time left on his current contract decreases and it will really fall off if he doesn't continue to score at a 30+ goal pace like he has the last few years.

noted,
U think u guys trade Kyrou over Buchnevich, or move both ?</div></div>
Kyrou has a no trade clause that kicks in July 1, 2025. I personally believe the Blues will trade him before that. I know many on here will chastise me for saying that but just what I believe. So whether they trade him this off-season, at next deadline, or next off-season I don't know. I've heard from someone I trust that his name has been brought up in trade discussions before. (again I'll be chastised for saying this)
I don't know on Buch. If they trade Kyrou, depending on what came back, I think they would try to resign Buch. I don't envision them both being here long term but again I don't know.

PRE-DRAFT MOVES
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>As a Sabres fan, I understand your pain all too well. I just wonder if San Jose will even come close to the 13 year playoff drought that we are facing down right now. To put that in perspective, the previous NHL record playoff drought was nine years. We’ve already crushed that. It may be a flippant thought, but I am of the opinion that if any other franchise had a 13 year playoff drought, they might just fold the damn team. Not even relocate because they wouldn’t want to put another city through that.</div></div>
It was just bad contract after bad contract, and it was like obvious stuff too, like DW signs a guy who’s on the wrong side of 30 to an 8x8, how would that ever work out, and it doesn’t. Then Karlsson 11.5x8 just bad move after bad move
I like to think that once some of our guys make the NHL full time we can find our way back into the playoffs.
I feel your pain.

I like Kunin game and he’s been playing better of late, but Olofsson would bring some goal scoring potential and I’d be down with that as well

You and I agree on too many subjects my friend.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DragonKnight</b></div><div>Would the Sabres like to return to the days of Darcy Regier? "What not to do as a sports team's General Manager" is what Regier did.</div></div> I do not read the Star so I do not know how much influence the hockey writers have on ownership.
Here in Buffalo our press is terrible.
In 1987 our Anencephalic writers wrote "Buffalo Deserves Better" when management fired Scotty Bowman.
Four years later, he went to Pittsburgh and won the Stanley Cup.
In 1997 the writers thought Ted Nolan was the greatest head coach ever.
Management fired John Muckler because there was a difference of opinion between John and Ted that the writers spent too much ink misinforming the public.
Nolan refused to accept a contract the following year and was released by Darcey Regier.
Muckler went on to be a very successful GM and was fired by the Senators after taking the team to the playoffs.
It is interesting that both John and Scotty remained in Buffalo.
There are many more instances in which the press has influenced ownership as they also influenced Pegula to fire Regier.
I can assure you, if Regier was the GM the Sabres would have been in the playoffs 5 years ago.
Tim Murray set the rebuild back at least 6 years.
Botterill got it on the right track with his drafting and trades (four of the five top defensemen, the top 3 centers, top LW and top GK are all his acquisitions).
Adams sits on his hands, sucks up to Terry and lets Jerry Forton run the drafts, Karmanos act a GM, Crow scout the NHL and Ventura run the analytics.
This should have been the year to make the playoffs, but Adams is too risk adverse to make the needed big move.
Since the start of the season added Erik Robinson for at most a 7th round pick, Buffalo will only give up 7th round pick if he plays more than 45 games (an unlikely event as he would need to play in 27 of the remaining 30 games to achieve that milestone).
Well that is my tome for the week.
