<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TkachukNorris79</b></div><div>He has to be on LTIR for at least 10 games or 24 days</div></div>
Yeah, about 1 month
You don't have to rush a player when he's coming back from a major injury. Kucherov actually came back EARLY a few years ago, it was a hip surgery and his recovery was faster than usual. But people just assumed they cheated the cap because ignorance. The cap doesn't count in the playoffs but it's the same rule for everybody. Just more ignorance

I mean yeah this makes sense but is clearly not going to happen. If Dorion wanted to do this he wouldn’t have waived Sokolov and JBD to send them down. I take back what I said about it being impossible cause it is clearly possible but it is also clearly not what Dorion is going to do

Pinto Branny for Lafreniere Jones
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TkachukNorris79</b></div><div>10x Pinto? You're crazy. They're pretty much the same age. One is a centre and one is a winger. Very similar production with very similar opportunity and usage. They'll also have very similar contracts.
Ottawa gets a francophone star as their 2LW to market for the French fans, NYR gets their future 2C from NY.
You can argue Laf is worth more for sure, but 10x is just dramatic and makes you look silly.
You also think Laughton is worth more than a 1st lol</div></div>
Don't even waste your time with this poster, completely delusional
Ottawa wouldn't want to trade Pinto for DeBrincat or Chychrun and chose to trade Top-12 OA picks instead but yeah, Lafreniere is "<em>worth 10x Pinto</em>" :awesome
And that's without even considering that Laf is getting destroyed left and right by all the Rangers fanbase

I disagree as a Flyers fan lol. I would obviously rather have a 1st rounder from them, but it doesn’t sound like Dorian has the balls to do that. Lassi and Boucher is still a decent haul if the 1st rounder is just simply not available.

Adding New Yorkers Zegras Pinto Kane
People get that the sens aren't going to trade Pinto, right? Only reason he isn't signed is because of needing to free up cap space. Cap space they definitely don't have for Goodrow

Whats the price on Konecny
Unless PHI gets forced into a corner where they have to trade him, I don't see TK being worth the price to OTT to acquire in a trade. TK is a great top-6 winger, but, honestly, is not worth the price of Pinto. If that is the deal breaker for PHI, then it sounds like this is a trade that simply won't happen. I think this trade is good value-wise for TK as a player but, as folks are saying, PHI doesn't have to trade TK; making his value to the organization inflate the expected trade return. They'll just keep him until an offer comes along that blows their socks off, so unless OTT offers Pinto it isn't going to happen.
Edit: Sorry for saying 'simply' too many times. Changed that.

Whats the price on Konecny
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TkachukNorris79</b></div><div>I can understand if Konecny returns a bit more than this in a trade, but adding Pinto is ridiculous.
In this trade, Philly is getting a 1st round pick likely between 13-20th overall, a legit #4D in Branny (worth a 2nd), a 20 goal UFA in Kubalik who they can easily get a 2nd for at the deadline, a young nhl ready D in Lassi, and an overpaid bottom 6er in Joseph who has slight negative value.
Saying Ottawa adds a 2nd here is fair, or someone like Boucher (who has ties to Philly). But add Pinto and you still don't think Philly does it? That's bananas.
You could offer me Konecny for 2 more years for Pinto (4 more years of team control) straight up and I probably wouldn't do it.</div></div>
2 years of team control is terrible because you don’t know if the player will pull a Debrincat. If you wait till next summer you can extend him

High.TK has 2 years left on his contract. In his prime coming off a very productive season even though he missed games.
Start with a good young player off your roster, a good prospect and a #1 pick.
Briere only trades TK if it's an overpayment in my opinion. Contrary to CFACGM he doesn't HAVE to trade him.

Sucks to trade a player when his value is at it's lowest, but need to get Pinto signed and start the season right.

The Duchene and DeBrincat fiascoes both mean we need to stop trading firsts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TkachukNorris79</b></div><div>Firstly, Brannstrom didn't put those expectations on himself, his GM and fans did. He has developed very well over the past couple years and is now going to be a solid #5 on a very good D core. He can be in your Top 4 if you have an injury. Every defenceman who played with Branny last year was much better with him than without.
There is a pretty clear issue of keeping players in Ottawa - how many RHD that are available would consider staying long term in Ottawa? Karlsson is the only one and we can't afford him. Chychrun is from here and will stay here long term, unlike Cat who just bolted.
I would trade 12th overall plus a couple of late 2nds any day for a 25 year old top pairing defender with 2 years left at $4.6M, especially if I know he is likely to stay after that.
Also not sure what you mean by him blocking Sanderson from flourishing - Sanderson is already the best defenceman on this team and will get #1 minutes this year, likely more than Chabot and Chychrun.</div></div>
What we paid also needs to be weighed against what Arizona's asking price was.
2023 1st
2024 1st
Solid prospect (i.e. Ridly Greig)
vs
2023 1st
2024 2nd
2026 2nd
And like you said, Chychrun's family is from the Ottawa Valley.
I would do this trade all over again as well.

The Duchene and DeBrincat fiascoes both mean we need to stop trading firsts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TkachukNorris79</b></div><div>They traded away Turris, Bowers (bust) but most importantly the 1st that led to the Avs taking Bowen Byram 4th overall in 2019.
When trading Duchene, they got 19th overall (Lassi Thomson), Davidsson (bust) and Abramov (Russia). Lassi's value is now closer to a late 2nd early 3rd if they're lucky.
They most definitely lost that trade.
EK trade worked out very well for them but I don't give Dorion too much credit there as no one expected the Sharks to fall off that quickly and gift them a franchise player in Stutzle at 3rd overall.
Stone and Zibanejad trades were trash.
He did very well in getting assets back for Brassard, but then traded Gus for an expiring UFA in Talbot and JBD is currently a 5/6/7 and at best will become a #4.
Dorion needs to go. His asset management is embarassing.</div></div>
Couldn't have predicted that SJ was going to fall off but the same could be said for the 2018/19 pick. Moreover, when they chose to select Tkachuk in 2018 4th OV it was obvious that they would be bad but who knew their pick would have been 4th OV again but I'm sure your glad with having Tkachuk over who knows who (might not even have been Byram).

So far these are the 2 that meet a semblance of realistic. My gut is leaning towards the Buffalo side though... my fear is that DeBrincat turns into the next Duchene. Sure he gets some points, but seems to carry some negativity around him, but maybe that is an unjustified feeling.
