I think it's a Top 5 easiest schedule the rest of the way so they'll definitely win more than they should. Playoffs completely out of the equation unless they go on a 7-10 game winning streak

Not bad for your 1st!
I think Vlad will get a 1st from a true contender. He's worth that anyways, I don't know of many forwards better than him that will be available at the deadline. He's so much more of a complete player than I thought he'd be.
I'd be shocked if Ottawa actually finishes 5th last and 8th in the Atlantic. They have been playing well lately (the right way) and it's inevitable that they're going to win two thirds of their remaining games and miss the playoffs by like 5-8 points, while absolutely destroying their current draft position.

According To Rumours
I would prefer to sign him to a 3 year deal, but if we have to move him I would do it for a 1st + a decent prospect. And I could see it being Edmonton with Staios' ties to the org and specifically Holland (I'm sure he knows Jackson as well).
Tarasenko would be a fantastic add to the Oilers 2nd line. He's still a 60ish point guy and probably goes up to a 70ish point guy with Draisaitl but he's been so much better defensively than I ever could have expected. I think as a rental for a late 1st, he's a steal.

This would be a horrible move. That's a Top 10 pick for a 23 year old former 2nd overall pick on pace for 17 points this season. I'll give them Branny and a 2nd but no way in hell they move their own 1st this year, especially since they moved the 2022 and 2023 picks for Cat and Chychrun, leaving them with an absolutely horrendous prospect pool (all the actual good prospects have graduated to NHL other than Kleven and Sogaard).

Cup Contender Next Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WN88</b></div><div>Not sure if that’s entirely accurate though. Considering this package would consist of them getting back a top 4 RHD and forward depth (and a 1st round pick), it would be hard to see him getting much more than that anyways. And it pretty much perfectly fits the description of what Sens would want in a return.
I’m really not too sure as to how valuable fans think Chychrun is? He was acquired for a 1st and two 2nds, and that was when he had 2.5 years on his contract.</div></div>
Sure but not all 1st rounders are equal. At the time, it was clearly a pick between 10-16 going the other way. It ended up being 12th, which is probably worth two of Toronto's late 1sts, or at least their 1st+Robertson. Liljegren is worth another 2nd?
2023 OTT 1st >> 2024 TOR 1st
2024 WSH 2nd = Liljegren
2026 OTT 2nd = Robertson
Then look at what Lindholm and Monahan just got as rentals. You don't think a top pairing defenseman signed for 1.5 years at $4.6M would get more?

How Do We Not Win the Cup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Julius_Freezer</b></div><div>are you braindead? A 1st and 2 2nds is what it took to get Chychrun from ARZ, since then his play has declined and his team friendly contract expires next season, I'd listen to an argument that there needs to be more for both of them since there's retention on both (could be a 3rd team involved to retain on Tarasenko instead) but to say that all of this isn't worth Chychrun alone is one of the most stupid things I've ever heard.</div></div>
A) I'm not sure where you see that his play has declined, he's been pretty darn good in Ottawa so far.
B) not all 1st round picks are the same. Ottawa traded a pick that was guaranteed to be between like 10-15, which is probably worth 2 of Vancouver's 1sts right now. So that offer for Chychrun alone is probably closer than both of them as the cost of Vlad is a 1st as well.
I honestly don't think I would accept that for Chychrun alone, not because the overall "value" isn't there, but because they can move him and get a single more impactful piece instead of 4 pieces unlikely to ever make any impact in the NHL, a late 1st next year (player won't make a real impact for 3 more years) and a late 2nd in 2026 who won't touch an NHL roster until 2029. Nevermind the cost of them using a retention spot.
Quality over quantity, especially when you're trading a top pair defenseman.
No way Chych ends up there, but I could see them looking at Vladdy if he'd go there (why wouldn't he right now)

Don't think Ottawa is moving Chychrun to Toronto for anything short of a clear overpayment.
If he moves it's likely to the West.

Honestly at this point I'll take Joseph over Kuz.
Not sure if you've ever seen Zub play, but A) he is most definitely more valuable than you are portraying in this trade and B) most definitely not available as Ottawa is looking for another player like Zub, not trading them away.

Don't think he'll get moved until the draft if he does, but this isn't THAT far off. I just think DET needs to add like a 2nd, for the divisional tax, and also for bending us over in the ADB trade LOL

Yeah I don't think that's very close to landing Saros, your 1st+Knies gets the conversation started, or multiple 1sts. Not sure there is much else NSH would really want that other teams couldn't easily beat.

Branny is probably a 3rd or late 2nd if lucky. Would also welcome a solid 4th liner in return as well.

Ottawa didn't have much space this year and had trouble fitting him in at the beginning of the year but once he got suspended he lost all leverage. He signed a 1 year min contract so he can play 41 games and negotiate a longer term contract in the summer for a fair number ($2-3M).
Also Ottawa has quite a bit of cap space next year. $10M gone between Tarasenko, Kubalik and Brannstrom, $5M dead cap off the books and a $4M cap increase. Sanderson gets his $7M raise but lots leftover to give to Pinto/Grieg and add some depth players.

Not sure how he's overrated at all, he pushes unicorn status. How many power forwards become a point per game player by 23? Matthew Tkachuk? Jamie Benn? There's not many. Mark Stone even took a while.
Pettersson is without a doubt on another level but will also cost 50% more which isn't nothing.

Brady doesn't need to prove anything. He's a different player than Matthew.
He's also already one of the best power forwards in the league and will be making about $3-4M less than Pettersson for the next 4+ years. That makes their value very close, nothing more than a pick would need to be added to make it fair.
But nonetheless this ain't happening cause Brady isn't going anywhere and Petey isn't signing in Ottawa.

Sure, but do you think Ottawa trades for Pettersson without him committing long term? Why would Pettersson extend in Ottawa but not Vancouver?
Either way, Petey is Elite but not worth THAT much more than Tkachuk. Would much rather keep all of those in Ottawa. The only base that would make sense for either team would be Stützle but again would require Petey to extend long term in Ottawa which will never happen

Yeah I just think Ottawa and Toronto will never make a trade with a significant piece involved for that reason. Phaneuf was the closest we'll get lol
We gave up 12th overall and 2 2nds for him, so should be able to get similar back, likely a little less.
Considering your 1st should be in the 20s, Robertson and Minten probably make it close, minus a rival tax

I don't think Chychrun is an option for Toronto. Ottawa doesn't need to make a decision on him until the summer so any offer for Chychrun at the deadline has to blow Staios away, this is not that.
And this doesn't factor in the rival tax. For that reason, if Chychrun is moved I would be shocked if it weren't back to the West.
