Marner Trade
Toronto should do it. Nobody knows how good Marner is or isn't, without Tavares, but Anderson is a good enough 2R to keep them in contention. They also score a tough 3C to shut down Boston, and a potential lottery pick? Money.

The only way Tampa can trade the 2019 1st Round Pick is by guaranteeing the 2020 1st Round Pick to the Rangers should they win the cup this year, and that's up to the Rangers to decide iirc.
And I don't think that's quite enough for Columbus to consider it. I think Foote has to be in there somewhere.

Nylander for Panarin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>American_Goat88</b></div><div>In what world does Nylander hold more value then Panarin???? In his lowest scoring season at 74 points is still more then Nylander's two 61 point years by 13 and he had 82 points last year. Thats a good 21 point difference.</div></div>
it would only be a trade for a signed nylander. straight up of course panarin has more value. but panarian is just this year till he's a ufa, nylander this year and four more .

Nylander for Panarin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>Don’t see how Panarin helps leafs current contract situation</div></div>
there is no problem cap wise with the signing nylander or just having panarin for this year. panarin is going to be a ufa next summer where he is a leaf or blue jacket. with the trade the leafs just get some cap space and the picks for nylander longer term. the nylander contract signing or non signing is not a question on whether the leafs have cap room, it a question of what is fair contract. obviously the two parties have a different definition of fair. seems to be a consensus on capfriendly that the leafs can't afford to sign nylander. nonsense. nylander is can't be traded either until other teams know what he going to demand in salary. Columbus for example has two expensive rfas signings soon werenski and dubois. they don't be have an overpaid rfa on the team when their own star players are up for contract.

Karlsson
As hard as it may be to accept, I think that is the best deal in Ottawa's case. Clarkson's contract is insured so it's off the books so Uncle Eugene doesn't need to pay him, they get rid of Bobby Ryan's contract (not a bad player, just a bad contract), they land a quality top 4 D in Miller and a solid RW young forward in Tuch. I mean, Eakin is a decent 3rd line centre, but Ottawa already has Zack Smith to fill that role. Reinhart is a throw in that could turn out to be good but its doubtful. Ottawa, I think, would rather have a pick or a prospect to replace both Eakin and Reinhart. Maybe another 3rd or Dansk/Whitecloud.

You get a RD, not just any RD but one who can play top pair minutes. Moving Hainsey or Zaitzev to the 2nd and 3rd pair makes you so much stronger. Kapanen's dad was a Carolina legend. As for Sparks beong your next starter or future backup, you still have Calvin Pickford with NHL experience. This is a good trade for Toronto, and actually a good trade for both sides

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>STLBlues17</b></div><div>I don't think it makes sense for either team. Nylander is finished his ELC, so the Leafs have four maybe five years of team control. Yea, I think that is why the Leafs would nix the two because of just two years of Pietrangelo control.

Montreal
1st Round Pick
2nd Round Pick (Whatever Cogliano is worth)
Nick Ritchie

Gee, Gourde had 25 goals and 64 points last season. Why would Tampa trade him? Interesting that both Gourde and Patches are UFAs in a year. Point isn't being traded. Just for long term cap relief, Tampa might interested in trading Johnson though.

I don't even see Marner as enough return for Hamilton, let alone Nylander. Hamilton is a top 5 Dman but also still young. Maybe a Nylander plus Bracco/Leivo and Zaitsev would be fair

Best Attempt at Fitting in Carlson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ClockReads2113</b></div><div>1) Terrible terrible return for Gruabuer, a young starter, and Bura, a young top 6 return. Each should be getting a 1st.
2) Don't know why people don't get this: there's plenty of room for Carlson to resign without sending people out. And if you do, buy out Orpik, don't send off 2 young studs.</div></div>
I don't know about having "plenty" of room for Carlson. Say the cap goes up to $79M, that's still only $12-15M of space right now. If you do re-sign Carlson, I would think all of your signings would take $15-$20M.
Players to re-sign:
Carlson - $7M+
Wilson - $3M+
Grubauer - $3M+
Beagle - $2M
Smith-Pelly, Bowey, Kempny - avg. $1.5M each
I don't think Burakovsky should be moved. I would move Grubauer with Orpik because Holtby is locking down his value in the playoffs right now, and you still have Samsonov. If you move Grubauer with Orpik, you're freeing up $8-9M of cap space. And Grubauer played well enough in the regular season to get some extra value coming back (on top of the Orpik cap dump).
