Getting cap compliant
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>eVANder</b></div><div>Do you think Hoglander starts in Van next season? With Kuzmenko and Mikheyev, there's no more room in the top 9.</div></div>
Yeah I think he will stick with the big club, Allvin has talked about him having a bounce back season. Could easily push Podkolzin or Kuzmenko to the 4th line.

Youre missing Rathbone and Joshua instead of Keeper + Dowling.
Lines will probly be something like:
Garland-Miller-Boeser
Pearson-Horvat-Mikheyev
Kuzmenko-Petey-Podkolzin
Hoglander-Dickinson-Lazar
Joshua
Hughes - OEL
Dermott-Myers
Rathbone-Schenn

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jco5ta5</b></div><div>Why do GMs keep doing this?!?!</div></div>
Desperate to keep assets in this case, they could not afford another offseason like this one next year. Likely pleases the fan base somewhat as well. I just cant believe they were so desperate they did it without seeing how the player fits first.

You need to roster a minimum of 21 players under the cap to be compliant. It is not an ideal situation to be in, provides zero flexibility mid season to call players up.

Lots of people jumping on the Calgary train in this thread. So what happens when both players walk in UFA and theyre left with just the 1st rounder?

Kerfoot going home
The fact Leafs fans want to put Gaudette in the lineup over a guy like Simmonds is hilarious to me.
Trade logic: "If I throw an extra 3rd on top it will bump the value just over the edge so that they accept it" - This isnt EA Sports bud..

Columbus Blue Jackets signed Johnny Gaudreau (7 Years / $9,750,000 AAV)
Man, the more I think about this signing the less I like this guy. Just lead Calgary along for months and wasted their time. I feel for Flames fans on this one, and thats saying a lot coming from a Canucks fan. Columbus?? What the actual frick.
Says more about the player than it does Columbus, Ohio. Like cleary the guy doesnt care about winning, doesnt want to be in a intense hockey market and just wanted to cash in and coast thru the rest of his career to retirement.. All quiet and peaceful like with yearly spring tee times. Hows the golf in Ohio?

Respect the opinions. I think Pearson has more value than you guys are giving him credit for. Hes a middle six guy who does all the little things right. Very good along the walls and has a solid shot.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wildnochance</b></div><div>Minnesota declines . We aren't taking on a cap dump</div></div>
Pearson is a cost controlled middle 6 forward that has plenty of value to a NHL club. For a cap strapped team like Minny he would be a solid add imo.

Kadri One Year Deal
Cant see Kadri wanting to do this at his age. Need NHL players for that 3rd line. I think Colorado should chase Motte and Aston-Reese for their bottom 6 and find a depth Center, maybe Statsny?
But damn do I like this teams cap structure, gonna be a force for years.

Severson via Anderson via Dubois
You have heavily over valued every asset leaving Winterpeg. Drop Dvorak from the Montreal trade at a minimum. Jersey just flat out says no, not interested period. Edmonton might consider it if you add a forward. But I think the three way doesnt make sense, if the Devils wanted Anderson, they would just swap Severson for him straight up and bypass Peg.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Rocket</b></div><div>But garland is better than Anderson and they play the same position. There is no reason to do this trade. It makes the team worse.</div></div>
I disagree there. I think this trade makes our team harder to play against. We need more sandpaper and size thru our lineup. Anderson would be a great fit on Bo's wing imo.

A true take for a Canucks Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Rocket</b></div><div>Just some stats for the two players over the last 3 seasons:
Games played: CG 194, JA 147
Goals: CG 53, JA 37
Goals per game: CG 0.27, JA 0.25
Points: CG 130, JA 60
Points per game: CG 0.67, JA 0.4
EV points: CG 107, JA 54
EV ppg: CG 0.55, JA 0.36
Penalties taken: CG 36, JA 47
Penalties Drawn CG 77 (!), JA 44
So yeah I guess if the Canucks are trading away the player who is a year younger, 550k less cap hit, scores way more points both 5v5 and in all strengths, scores similar goal totals, has way better penalty differential, and has a better injury history they should have to add a prospect to get it done.
Yup that makes sense</div></div>
Totally valid points. But when you approach a team to pry away a player they like. I think a slight overpayment is needed. Canucks seem to want to move away from Dipietro and add a Vet for Utica as well this season so I think the trade works for both sides.
