Vancouver Canucks signed Elias Pettersson (8 Years / $11,600,000 AAV)
Moral of the story: if you have a Swedish superstar, leak that you're considering trading him to a team full of Finns and he'll run to the negotiating table :awesome

makes VAN's acquisition of Lindhom look even better. MTL certainly wins regardless of what the Jets do in the playoffs.

Monahan has 46% of his points on the pp.. doubt he is good enough to be on the Jets pp.... feels like a horrible trade considering Vancouver got Lindholm

Waste of 1st rounder for Winnipeg. Is here anybody really thinking they can win SC this year?

I hate this for Winnipeg. With his injury history, he's not even a certainty to play in the postseason, and you move a 1st for him? That's tough

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>patti200219</b></div><div>Fair deal on both sides imo. Jets have Montreals 2nd from the PLD trade anyway so we are probably gonna only slide 10-15 picks outside of the first. Excellent asset management from both sides. Jets don’t need a first this year with how well we have drafted. Would rather pay this price than what the Canucks paid for a dude who hasn’t scored a goal in almost half the season.</div></div>
Heh. Lindholm plays against top lines and is a Selke caliber defensive center.
Monahan plays against 2nd and 3rd lines, and oh my he is not. And half his points come on the PP, he does precious little 5v5 against mid competition.

Realistic All In
I think your trade is fair. Folks sometimes consider Lindholm a 40 goal scorer, which he really isn't without very talented wingers. If we value Tanev = Brzustewicz, then Lindholm = Raty, 1st, 3rd. The return for Lindholm here is arguably better than what Vancouver got for Horvat, considering Beauvillier netted a 5th.

Can't make conditions based on a player resigning anymore. Also Flames aren't going to add a cup winning condition, it's either conditional on the Canucks making the WCF or making the SCF but definitely not on them winning the cup.

Well said. Get a real asset that will be here longer than a UFA albeit Tanev is still good.</div></div>
I'd be happy getting a guy like Tanev who is a rental, but I don't touch a 1st or premium prospect. Maybe a 1st if it is conditional on getting to round 3 of the playoffs or something like that....

T021 - Rental
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tmclean64</b></div><div>Why is that? I feel like theyd rather have flexibility and picks going forward. Think Garland would be a better fit in the deal?
I also think if they add Tanev it would be to have him play toughs with Hughes and Millers line. Freeing up Hronek to feast on a pairing with Cole and the Pettersson line 5 on 5.</div></div>
Because Calgary will never retool to the studs, they have a ton of cap flexibility coming up this offseason and I personally think they should be filling the pipeline with guys two or three years out of their draft that are ready to jump to the NHL in a year or so instead of guys who have a 3 - 5 year timeline to make it. Especially with Markstrom, Backlund, Andersson having 3 years left on deals. Just my thoughts on how it should go which means nothing!
Pretty tough to seperate Hughes and Hronek right now but the flexibility Tanev would bring to the pairings is insane!

Why on earth would you want to add Reaves.... lol. Canucks looks really good so far, I don't think there is any reason to make a drastic change like that this early. Plus Reaves is a waste of space.

Pretty sure Boudreau has already said he wants to run Miller-Petey-Horvat down the middle to start the year. They have the depth on the wings to make it work too so I don't know why they wouldn't.

Klingberg is terrible defensively. Thrives on powerplay minutes which he wouldn’t get in Vancouver. Mikheyev got overpaid but he helps the middle six scoring with speed, some grit, and is good on the penalty kill which was our biggest weakness last season. Wish he was a little cheaper but Atleast he fills team needs

Pearson had as many points as Beauvillier in less games while also getting less ice time. Had 8 less PP points as well. So is Beauviller a borderline 3rd liner if not healthy scratch?
