The Minny Trade is a no from both sides. I cant see the Nucks moving Hoglander. He could provide legit top 6 value next year at 1.1M. Hes also EP40's best friend. Probly not the guy you wanna trade while in major contract negotiations with your star player.

Lol the Canucks would love to have Patrick Kane.. As would 31 other teams. Perron would also be a great fit for the JT miller line.

Youve hit the over on Tanev + Petey and the Under on Hronek. Marchessault and Oleksiak aint signing in Van, very long shots and take too much cap space. Could see Zadorov and Tanev maybe?

Not 100% convinced on that but time will tell. I dont think Tanev is worth a first even half retained without the necessity of Beauvilier being in the deal.
Tanevs No trade List is apparently built to keep him in Canada limiting Calgarys options. Edm is capped out and currently not in the position to buy, MTL isnt a buyer, Peg could be on the list as they are for most. So basically leave T.O and Van. Would be suprised to see them fetch more than Beauvillier, Woo and a First.. Thats a haul for an aging Pk specialist. Im not convinced Allvin goes this route anyway, I think they'll find a way to open up cap and sign Bear.

Canucks could be open to adding Woo but there needs to be retention to make the cap work for Van. Needs to be at least 350k, ideally 500k so if a league min guy goes down they can call up Podkolzin.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JuanDamienNebraska</b></div><div>Beauvillier would surely get claimed. I know he makes north of 4 million, but someone would take him.</div></div>
We both agree Beauvillier is a good player, love his offensive tools. But if this was the case the team would also be able to trade him for something without a sweetner right? Wingers just seem to have no value on the trade market right now. My target would be Duclair from SJ, but the Sharks are going to want futures in that deal vs an expiring UFA roster player IMO.

Why is that? I feel like theyd rather have flexibility and picks going forward. Think Garland would be a better fit in the deal?
I also think if they add Tanev it would be to have him play toughs with Hughes and Millers line. Freeing up Hronek to feast on a pairing with Cole and the Pettersson line 5 on 5.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dfawcett</b></div><div>I would wait until the 40-50 game point and see how they are doing. If they are showing signs of being legit, and you truly believe in this core, I think you have to go for it. But I wouldn't do that for a UFA. I would hope they made a move like Ottawa did for Chychrun last year. Try to find an age-appropriate, preferably right shot defenseman on a reasonable contract for a few years and pay the price if it doesn't include Lekkerimaki, Willander, or their 2025 1st.
Use some assets (even thought we don't have a lot) and try to set your core up to contend for the next 3-5 years. That is probably all we have with Miller's age anyways, unless you have another young C on the way at some point in that span...
Just don't use a prime asset for an expiring contract. It isn't worth it.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JuanDamienNebraska</b></div><div>Waiving Beauvillier would be stupid IMO.</div></div>
Issue here is Bear will be looking to sign within the next month so if that is the route Allvin wants to go then he needs to make a trade to free up space sooner than later which seems tough to do as its still early. I love your idea to trade for a Dman that fits long term who fits the timeline of the team. Its just so hard to pry those guys loose and I dont see how they get that guy without moving a top prospect. They will need Willander and Lekkerimaki during the peak OEL buyout years.
100% agree waiving Beauvillier wouldnt be ideal, but if they cant move him without adding a sweetner then I could see them doing it to improve the team while keeping him in the back pocket if injuries hit. IMO they would rather have Bear on the roster than Beauvillier. Would ideally fill their only hole on the roster.

adding tanev
That Myers trade is awful, Reaves doesnt play on this roster. Calgary can ask for a 1st for Tanev but I dont think theyll get it, 2nd at most IMO. Freidman reported his NTC is structured to keep him in Canada, so likely only has Peg, Van and T.O as options.
This Canucks team has so much FWD depth and only one hole on RHD. I think the fix is a lot more simple. Get some cap space in a Beauvillier trade (or Garland) and sign Bear.
Id do a Tanev deal but Garland or Beauvillier need to be in the trade with a '25 Second.
Kuzy - Petey - Mikheyev
PDG - Miller - Boeser
Joshua - Suter - Garland
Hoglander - Blueger - Lafferty
Studnicka
Podkolzin or Trade Aquisition
Hughes - Hronek
Cole - Bear
Soucy - Myers
Freidman
Demko - Desmith

Seems like an overpay from Van. Im sure theyd part with Beauvillier but Raty and a third is kinda steep. I think the AAV for Bear is high as well, the cap hit will be pro rated so likely 1-1.5M less.

Cant believe Im saying this.. But no chance this team healthy scratches Myers right now, hes been a beast the last 6 games! I think if we can free up a bit of space with the Garland trade and sign Bear we are set on D.
Id be able to swallow the Roslovic trade purely for the freedom it gives the group next offseason even though I think its a downgrade.

Fair deal. Friedman fits better on this Canucks roster than Rathbone so far. Different types of players and sure Rathbone has more offensive upside but that has yet to translate at the NHL level. Fell to #7 on LD depth for the Canucks.
