From what I saw the Leafs needed retention and the Flames didn’t want to retain, so they traded him to Vancouver. Also saw the Canucks needed to add a 5th as inter division tax, so I assume Toronto was offering a 3rd as well

Tanev is better than Zadorov and also a RHD. He definitely costs more, especially with retention. Could maybe get a 1st, or at least a 2nd + prospect/lower pick

Well, when I made that comment, we were on the third of... what? eight? 180s on this. It had switched back to "nothingburger" at that point.
If Babs is gone, so is the whole front office. Columbus will <em>definitely </em>not be making any moves for a while in that case.

It was more for cap re-adjustment purposes. Having 33m in 3 guys is too much. So hard to fill out a roster that way. But Dubas did a pretty good job none the less and Tre seems to have put a solid team here as well.
Sammy had a very good year and I really liked how he handled the pressure in Toronto. looking at Korpisalo and Jarry, they both got a lot. I usually sign Murray for 3 years at 3.5m or 3.75m but I can see him getting more based on the other singings. We will see.

Domi And Tarasenko
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TooMalevolent</b></div><div>Not a single guy there can play against top comp. You just traded Nylander for a guy that in a system that protects dmen, was a 2nd pair dman. And you put him next to a guy that if it wasn't for the guy that the Leafs just signed and you have as your 2nd pair RHD, he would be one of the biggest defensive liabilities in the league. And you just traded a high-end offensive player in order to have the pleasure of teams to run on you.</div></div>
Pesce has been rated highly. He's a solid defenceman. But I agree he's more of a second pair guy. But nobody is trading a bonafide number one right shot defenceman for a winger who wants 9-10 million.

Any trade for Sanheim is a bad one imagine taking that risk for 8 years after the year he just had.

#2 hanifin isn't who the leafs need. Nylander is way more valuable to them.

Winnipeg fans are delulu
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>He will get the same rental value as any other TDL top 6 C.
Zero leverage isn't a thing, PLD can control part of where he goes, but not all of it. Even if he QOs for a year elsewhere or decides that he is willing to consider a long term deal other than MTL, he will receive value proportional to a rental player at a deadline.
I'd say the habs fans are more delusional than the jets fans, as per usual.</div></div>
Zero leverage is most certainly a thing when teams can wait him out and sign him asset free, ESPECIALLY Montreal. Why move Kidney and a 1st when you can suck for another year and sign him when you're better. No rush. Teams will also be recognizing his history with requesting trades, he's a massive diva. Do you want to commit to a player like that?
100% chance he is not wearing a Jets jersey in October, so they are forced to move him now. Teams recognize this and have the upper hand. Chevy can't be too picky.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TooMalevolent</b></div><div>I more or less agree with you about him. I'm not his biggest fan, and based on how I have argued countless times about getting him on here, maybe I'm talking myself into him. But even as a guy that dislikes him, there's no question he does have some skill. He is unquestionably a good playmaker, and plays really well off the rush, which the Leafs could use more of. You mention the Kane thing- in all fairness if you watch those games, it's Domi setting him up. You see he has the vision. Playing LW on a line with a couple of guys that at this point are much better players than Kane and will score 35+ will be good.
And I guess when they are in the dzone close your eyes.</div></div>
Domi is a floater. He tries to score points but doesn't do much else.

I’m not a mind reader. I’ll further point to the Giroux trade as a closer comparison. Hall is a cancer and not HOF bound. Kane might go down as the best American ever (for now, until we see how Matthews career unfolds).</div></div>
Giroux wasn't declining and didn't have a hip injury that every team is worried about. Particularly the injury point. That's why the Hall trade looks like a better expectation.

Yeah, he is signed for next year as well
