I was assuming one of the teams top 5 prospect and a 2nd? Maybe a young roster player added

Is this team still a contender if it trades a top defenseman
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>WAS shouldn't. They'll need someone to replace Backstrom in time. I didn't say the trade makes sense, but trading Boqvist for Orlov doesn't make sense either. CHI needs ELC puck moving dmen because they will likely lose Gus at some point this season and they have cap troubles to worry about.</div></div>
I agree. I think value wise both prospects have equal values. On top of that both players are exactly what their current franchises need. Orlov is great but he is currently on a contender and if traded would need to go to a different contender.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I was just going to say this exact thing. You'd need to add quite a bit more than Orlov to get Boqvist. Considering the Hawks needs for young/cheap Dmen, I'm certain Orlov and Connor McMichael wouldn't get it done.</div></div>
I wouldn’t trade boqvist 1 for 1 for mcmichaels. Orlov is a great dman but a agree hawks aren’t a win now team so no need to trade for him

It said glorifying.....that alone was a given but either way I’m not being serious. I don’t think we even have a roster spot for him till after next year

I must be the best GM ever
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>I though if Boston wins the cup they let Krug walk then I googled Krug leaving Boston and he is quoted by several reputable news sources saying he would take a discount to stay in Boston. I don't think you have to worry about Backstrom for Barkov because he is the face of the Panthers now so they won't trade him. As a Wings fan I do like Jensen but I think he is #4 or #5 Dman excellent skater but he is to hesitant at times to take chances to rushing the puck or making the difficult pass that could lead to a goal. I agree Puljujärvi doesn't have a whole lot of value right now, but Edmonton still wants a lot for him In the last week or so they have proposed 1 for 1s with AA, Bertuzzi and Zadina. I understand wanting to get as much as possible for a former #4 OA pick but the aren't going to get a return like that until Puljujärvi can prove he can be that player at NHL speed.</div></div>
I was just pointing out that some of these trades arent nearly as bad as they should have been for a troll post. I on the fence with Jensen. I think Gudas is playing better right now but that’s more Gudas overachieving than Jensen underachieving. I agree I don’t see Boston or caps making a trDe for Krug. The fact he’s willing to take a discount is why Boston will forever be better than the TML.
And Fla shouldn’t trade Barkov. He’s a stud. Im just a bias caps fan that won’t allow Backstrom to leave at any cost. Like malkin leaving the penguins.

Krug is a ufa after this year and he would probably get the Bruins a 1st and a top prospect. So remove Dowd and add a 1st. Obviously caps aren’t buying at this price and Bruins aren’t seller. But alexeyev is our best prospect.
Same age Backstrom or Barkov I’m going Backstrom every time. The age difference would make Barkov more valuable. Also Backy is a ufa and untouchable. I would pay my own money to keep him in DC
Jensen for a 2nd is a steal. He’s a Solid puck moving top 4 rhd with a low cap hit and term. Toronto Would be wise to sign and lock up some solid cheap defense.
Puljujärvi Has shown he’s not a very good nhl player but he has value in the form of potential. Maybe add a lower level prospect and they do this. Again caps don’t need him at all

I mean he’s not terrible but he’s also not good. So if you told me he’s terrible defensively I’d say you’re being dramatic. But guys like Toews stone and Barkov are knows for being great defensively and all have solid turnover ratios. Like I said it’s not the best way to measure it but to completely ignore it and say it doesn’t correlate is simple not true. I’m still waiting for an example to support your initial claim. I’m assuming it doesn’t exist so good talk.

Evgeni Malkin vs John Tavares
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MikeyThePensFan</b></div><div>If they made a top 100 players list now, I'm sure Malkin would get in. I think a lot of people forget how good Toews was. He wasn't as big as the hype (ie Crosby comparisons) but he was a really reliable two way center. Faced other teams' top players every night and was extremely good at generating possession in the offensive zone. Playing with Hossa definitely helped, but he was right up there with Bergeron and Kopitar.
I hope you can check out and subscribe to my YouTube channels: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OblZhVrQ0dI" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OblZhVrQ0dI</a>

Thanks!</div></div>
He was a solid shut down guy. His turnover ratio is very impressive but malkin has played 32 less games and has 245 more points. Malkins offensive upside is much better than Toews. Malkins 2 way play isn’t great but that’s not his style of play. Would you rather prevent 50 goals and score 20 or score 50 goals and give up 30?

As far as skill? No. Malkin is better than Backstrom. Backstrom is actually more comparable to Tavares than Malkin. I would actually take Backy ove Tavares any day. They are on the same level of people disrespecting them. Malkin wasn’t a top 100 player all time but Toews was? What world is Toews nearly as good as Malkin or Backstrom ?

My point is you’re giving up a lot for a goalie that can leave next year bc he’s a ufa. He’s not Holtby or Bob level. Chances are Nucks keep him and try to go on a run

Evgeni Malkin vs John Tavares
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MikeyThePensFan</b></div><div>There's not too much I can disagree on but I'm surprised that you Caps fans here view Geno so highly. I thought you would all say that Kuznetsov is better than Malkin (peak). I do think Tavares is a more complete player, but Malkin is a freak of nature. Give him Marner and he'd score 50 goals and 100 points in those 62 games.</div></div>
Career Malkin has 657 take always 719 giveaways (-62 turnover ratio) but a +69
Tavares has 584 take aways 643 giveaways (-59 turnover ratio) but he’s a -23
I’d say they are both pretty average defensively. Malkin is just that cliche “lazy” player but they both have similar tk gv numbers. You could argue Malkin is better defensively
As a caps fan I hate Malkin but as a hockey fan I hate how he gets zero respect. He’s the penguins Backstrom. Penguins have 0 cups without him
