<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>capsin9</b></div><div>besides age what makes trouba better than nisk......and is he really that much better that the caps toss a stud young d man (djoo) in with him....

djoo Imo if he played all 82 games would be close skjei in comparison .....like I said Imo

also not being a dick just asking about your thought process

nick was a top pairing dman for a Stanley cup winning team

nisk had 29 points in 68 games

trouble had 24 in 55 games

if he played top pp he would easily put up 50-55 points</div></div>

Thought process is Trouba is a beast at 5v5. Trouba only had 3 PP points last year (Buff and Myers both get PP time not Trouba) and Trouba is top PK so his point totals at very similar to Niskanens so the statement applies to Trouba too.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>krakowitz</b></div><div>From a Washington perspective, Djoos wouldn't be moved. While Trouba would be a great fit to replace Niskanen both short and long term, Djoos is too big a sacrifice for us. He was actually our 2nd best defender throughout the season, even though he didn't get a lot of heavy minutes. Also given Washington's lack of NHL defensive depth, Djoos is a necessity for us this season. I like the deal if instead of Djoos, it could be done around future assets. We just drafted Martin Ferehavy (or however you spell it) in the second round, and I believe that Washington would much rather make this deal happen that way rather than with Djoos. But the concept is good, swapping Trouba for Niskanen.</div></div>

Understood on the Djoos perspective. Wondering if Wilsons RFA rights instead would be on the table?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ruahone</b></div><div>Yes he did. He played with Stamkos. Got over 20 goals that season. Trouba's gone, cause they simply don't have the space. Morrissey is not whiny like Trouba and Laine for sure isn't going anywhere. Acquiring someone like Hayes is completely unnecessary.</div></div>

Fair to the Drouin statement (I'm assuming because I admittedly don't follow Tampa that closely and thought that was the year Stamkos was injurred). On the Trouba aspect I completely disagree. Trouba isn't gone because "they simply don't have the space". He's the reason you make space. You don't just trade 23 year old top pairing RHD away because you don't have the space. You move the Myers, Kulikov, Perrault, Mason, Buff, basically anyone but him! He's also no Whiny as you state. There was a lot of initial anger from WPG fans when he requested his trade but when you sit down and rationalize what happened it starts to make sense. Kids got the talent, was anchored next to Stuart behind Buff and then they went out and traded for Myers who he also ended up behind. His potential earning power being hindered by being behind those two guys, and anchored next to Stuart were going to cost him millions of dollars and he wasn't happy about that despite being better than Myers, and on a path to being a #1 guy. So he used what little leverage he had to make a point/statement. Now he's got what he wants, he's playing with an excellent D partner for a contending team with a bunch of guys his age who all seem to get along well. THE ONLY REASON Trouba would want out is if you believe the family life "rumors" that have circulated the past few years.
