I don't think Benning was interested in trading picks unless the price was right. Sure it solves some short-term problems by having more money available but once you get to the likes of JT, Boeser, Bo needing extensions the team will be depending on their draft picks and younger prospects to stay under the cap. A good example is CHI when they ran into cap problems after winning multiple cups, they had to let go of players like Big Buff, Panarin, Saad
Benning has come so far in being patient and not panicking to trade way LE for picks. I don't think he'll 'cave' now that he's in his last year.
Outside of VP, Lind, Rathbone, the Canucks don't have a whole lot in the farm.

Because Benning didn't move any of LE, AR, or JB prior to the start of this season, I'm assuming patience is his mantra. Options could include: buying out Holtby after the expansion draft. Burying LE and AR in the minors which saves a little over 2M collectively. I can see JB being used because of his position and face-off abilities or AR coming in-and-out of the lineup.

Vancouver Canucks Trade Deadline
What on Earth is the point of retaining both Miller and Virtanen when both of them are on one year deals. The money that you're retaining essentially cancels each other out. It's like if you owe me 5 bucks and I owe you 2 bucks. Am I going to give you 2 bucks and expect for you to give me 5 in return? No its simpler for you to give me 3 bucks.
You want to trade a potentially high pick in 2021, one where we could pick in the top 5 PLUS another 1st rounder for Rakell? Even if its lottery protected for 2021 and defer for the following year that is a ridiculous price for Rakell.
TOR is not going to retain Kerfoot for 2 years

This one of your insider infos?
What is the point of salary retention for the Miller and Virtanen trades? They both have one year remaining. You might as well get BUF to retain a small amount and the money cancels itself out.

Also a bunch of your players you called up are in Utica. So that's minimum 7 days isolation at which point most of the Canuck players will be nearly finished their 10 days.
At this point, the NHL will push back the schedule. Hopefully its false positives

The players on the COVID protocol list will not be on LTIR. Even if they are confirmed positive, NHL protocol state if a play is asymptomatic or symptomatic, they must isolate for 10 days. Let's just say its even 14 days.
LTIR is when a player misses 10 games AND 24 days of the season

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AnalyticalGM</b></div><div>I was of the understanding one defensemen must be exposed who is under contract 2021-22 and has played at least 27 NHL games this year or 54 NHL games last two years
With that the Preds can expose Boro or Benning with the Top4 protected.
So it seems Carrier/Allard will be under the exposure requirements but can still be selected during the expansion draft.
It would be interesting if NSH doesn't move Ellis or Ekholm if they protect Josi, Ellis, Ekholm, Fabbro, Carrier, Forsberg, Arvidsson, Kunin, Saros
Let Seattle pick between Johansen, Duchene, Jarnkrok, Sissons, Trenin (and Allard, Jeannot, Pitlick,) It will be another tough expansion draft for the Preds</div></div>
Yeah the wording isn't the best.
I assume if NAS goes with the 7/3 format, they'll go Josi, Ellis and Fabbro. Assuming they'll trade Ekholm at TDL or off-season
NAS at this moment meets the minimum exposure requirements. Again in that unlikely scenario where they trade away all those d-men, they would need just one d-man not named Josi to be considered LEGAL.

thats a mouthful lol
My college roommate's uncle (head of a huge multi-corporation) has children that go to same school as Aquilini's kids. My college roommate heard from his uncle from the school teacher that Taylor Hall trains at UBC, so he would make a perfect fit for our second line!

Why would you buy out Beagle 2.2M (21-22) + 400K (22-23), when you can just bury him in the minors where it only costs 1.875M

Also to add to that...if it truly went by these NHL games played that they must play to be exposed. All 30 teams (excluding VGK) would bury all their non-exempted prospects in the AHL

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AnalyticalGM</b></div><div>Tolvanen is exempt from Expansion draft. Carrier is 12 games away from being exposed (injury could be a blessing in disguise)
This doesnt really help the youth enter the lineup nor does it free up cap space.</div></div>
Don't think you understand the expansion rules. Carrier is NOT exempt, therefore he is exposed (his games played doesn't matter). Carrier has played more than two seasons of pro hockey in North America (AHL/NHL). Theoretically, if the Predators happened to trade or terminate Ellis, Ekholm, Borowiecki, Benning and Fabbro from their team prior to the Expansion Draft. That would be considered ILLEGAL.
Teams must expose 1 defensemen for SEA to pick. Josi can not be selected because he has a NMC.
Sbisa, Carrier, Allard, Lewington, and Harpur can be selected but the Predators must expose at least one defensemen with the minimum games played (Ellis/Ekholm/Boro/Benning/Fabbro)
If we want to be completely accurate, guys like Sbisa don't have a contract for 2021-22 so he's ineligible to be selected

EDM deal makes no sense for the Canucks. Trading away Motte who is controlled for another season and is worth quite a bit given his cap PLUS a 4th for two expiring deals. We're essentially helping the Oilers with removing cap and retaining Sutter's cap for what?
You can't buy out Rousell in the middle of the season

I don't think its that far off. Pearson's numbers this year disappointing for sure. But he did record 45 points in 69 games last year.
Last year the Canucks acquired Toffoli for Madden + 2nd. Madden is considered a very good prospect.
Now if the Canucks retain on Pearson's salary and given the position TOR is in and their all-in mentality, I think clubs are willing to take a chance. With the current landscape of the playoff picture, there are quite a few teams in the hunt specifically in the Central and West.
Supply is low when it comes to teams that will be sellers ATM.
And just to add to that Toffoli had decent numbers prior the TDL. Averaging a little over 0.5 ppg

Agreed with sedin33. Give us some cheap expiring contracts and we'll even eat up some of Sutter for a 2nd round pick.
