<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zmach</b></div><div>As for Holloway that is what your typical young offensive player gets IE Yamamoto, JP, Jake debrusk.</div></div>
JP and Yamamoto both signed $1.125M deals after their ELC.
DeBrusk scored 62 goals and 130 points on his ELC prior to getting his $3.6M x 2 contract. Holloway isn't close.
It would be amazing if he broke out next year and earned that contract, but the odds of that happening from the McLeod line are very slim indeed.

I sure hope Holloway and Broberg earn those contracts, but they won't ever get that playing 3rd line and 3rd pair.

Both trades are bad for Edmonton and you're overpaying mediocre UFA's. Maybe third time's a charm?

Oilers 23-24
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EmilFo</b></div><div>Why does everyone think Fogele is unusable. He is a good player recently. The fit in the group is maybe odd, I know he has been vocal about playingtime and I think he is part right about some players play to much. Everybody benefits of a teamgame.
If a forward goes, it should be Yamamoto. His play isnt 3 million-ish. He can hustle, but gets injured, plays about 55 -60 games a year. Soon to be LTIRed. Edmonton would benefit. of one more D.
Get a D, get a RW. Trade Yamamoto and one of Ceci/Kulak.
And I dont think A Johnson signs for only 775 000. Thats ridicolous.</div></div>
Yamamoto doesn't have a history of injuries as you suggest. He played nearly all of the games in each of the past 2 seasons and sustained 2 different injuries this year.
Ceci is extremely important to the Oilers. He's played the 3rd most minutes against top lines of any player in the league, and has a positive goal differential in those minutes. You won't replace him for less than $6M.
With Nurse, Ekholm and Broberg all under contract next season, Kulak is the odd man out on the blue line.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldHabsFan61</b></div><div>I didn’t post it but I did an ACGM from your POV. I used the money saved to sign Luke Schenn on a cheaper short term deal. Your top pairing would be Ekholm-Bouchard, with Nurse either playing with Schenn or Kulak. That leaves either Schenn or Kulak with Broberg.
Hoffman would be 3rd line LW with McLeod and Yamamoto. Top six is Hollway, McDavid, Hyman, Nuge, Drai, Kane.</div></div>
Cool story. Doesn't change the fact that this trade is terrible for Edmonton.

Not necessarily. Matthews has a full NMC, fine choses to waive for only one team the return wouldn't be any better than what's listed here. Nylander has a 10-team no-trade list so there could be a bidding war for his services.

Oilers 23-24
I don't see Edmonton wanting to move Foegele, or having to pay someone to take him of they do.
I read this the other day, seems relevant:
<em>Among 13 Oilers forwards with at least 400 minutes at 5v5 (and 383 forwards league-wide at the same threshold), Foegele ranks
4th with 1.01 G/60 (71st)
7th with 1.81 P/60 (150th)
4th with 8.95 shots/60 (63rd)
2nd with 1.20 xG/60 (7th)
2nd with 6.13 iHDCF/60 (10th)
1st with 4.02 takeaways/60 (2nd)
5th with 8.34 Hits/60 (88th)
And that’s with minimal TOI with McDavid and Draisaitl. <strong>He’s proving to be well worth his salary, but fans don’t seem to be noticing.</strong></em>

Hart is available
You realize that Hart isn't very good, right?
And Ceci has far more value than Kulak. Every NHL GM knows that a 1st pairing player is worth more than a 3rd pairing player. And then you signed another 3rd pairing guy (Gudas) to play above his established level of ability and brought up an AHL defenseman to play 3rd pairing.
This team is worse than the existing Oilers roster, by a lot.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Manson</b></div><div>Probably the Devils and Ducks.
Devils have promising young players and are currently top 5 in he league.
The Ducks have the best D-Pipeline in the league. As they have the QMJHL and OHL leader in points for a D-man. As well as 3rd in d-man points in the WHL.
If they get bedard it will be 10x better.
And once those prospects are good and if John Gibson is still a top 4 goalie they will be phenomenal.</div></div>
Gibson hasn't been a top-4 goalie in a long time. I don't think Anaheim is top-3 among these teams.

How did you get to pick 3rd overall? MTL currently holds the 5th pick, if they win the lottery they'll pick 1st or 2nd. If someone behind them wins the lottery they'll pick 6th or 7th.
I don't see a path to 3rd overall through the lottery.

Ceci plays tougher comp than Bouchard by far. For a reason.
And if Wideman is relegated to the AHL, who replaces Ceci in the Oilers lineup?? Nobody is going to play 1RD for free you know. Therefore there's no savings for Edmonton here.
But you're completely missing the point: Ceci is worth several times what Hoffman is. "Cap savings" just isn't a thing when you're actively making the roster worse. That's why I brought up McDavid and Evans - you could argue Cap Savings but their values are so far apart Edmonton isn't going to PAY to take the worse player. It's just not logical.

Ceci is their first pairing defenseman. They aren't going to trade him for garbage.

Could Carter Hart be the guy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DefenseFirst</b></div><div>Pretty incredible. Based of this statement i don’t think you know what the words, “literally,” or, “facts,” mean.
It’s subjective. It can’t be fact.
But, lets deal with reality. Let’s deal with this from an objective standpoint. Let’s deal with facts. Hart started the season hot as a pistol, and unsustainably so. Since then, he’s been bad. Really bad.
He ranks 69th (nice) in save % with a horrid .896, and 65th in GAA with a 3.18. That’s bad.
Now, because I can already sense it coming, don’t give me the, “well it’s because he plays for a bad team, it’s not his fault,” argument. Goalies from Arizona, LA, Vancouver, and many other teams that have been worse defensively have done better than that.</div></div>
Yeah, and it's not like Buffalo's defense is going to be any better. At least, not yet.

Why though? Skinner is better, you need a solid backup / 1B, not an overrated starter. Save your assets for improving the defense.

It seems pointless trying to peddle Olofsson to the highest scoring team in the league. The guy's one major selling point is his shot, so in order to extract maximum value we'd need to find a team that NEEDS more offense.
