You could make that trade ONLY Jenner or ONLY Jiricek and it still wouldn't be valuable enough. Noy to mention neither player is available.

You're probably thinking of Kent Johnson who had a really bad couple weeks to start the year (even scratched in game 1) and got sent to the AHL for a while. Took like a month to find his game putting up like 1.5 PPG in the A and has been back w Columbus since. (One of the very few good decisions the FO/Coaching staff have made this season)
There have been way too many posts of ppl trying to get him on here because of 4 month old reports he was upset about getting sent down or whatever. Columbus has no reason to move him either though. Like 70% of their job the next year or so is just playing wait and see on these young players imo.

Another Jenner
LD is probably the last thing on CBJ's list of needs, so even if the value is there (I don't know enough about Gulyayev to say, just gonna take your word for the sake of this), it just doesn't fit what CBJ would need to move Jenner. A late 1st and a player at the position they need least doesn't entice them to trade the guy imo.

Shows OP isn't very familiar with either team. Marchenko needs to be paid after this year, something that Knies ELC in invaluable to them specifically for, like you allude to. Marchenko has been a really great culture guy and so far, is the only young core player that's really earned my trust to be part of the new leadership group as the young team grows. Just doesn't make sense considering either teams situation.

Cirelli move for cap? Know he's having a bit of a down year, but that's selling really low on him. I wanted to go after him hard in RFA a couple years ago. CBJ are way better off at center now, but I'd still take him in a heartbeat if that's all it costs.

Personally I'd be happy with that. I don't think Laine was ever a fit here and I think cutting ties on that big deal and moving on, with 2 mil retained and adding Beck would be a smart move.
Goes without saying though that a Laine trade isn't happening anytime soon with him entering the player assistance program. Would be pretty surprised at it happening over the summer either considering that. On the hockey side of things though, I'd take that as a CBJ fan.

That's a pretty good Jenner offer for me, but I can't see Columbus being interested in retaining nearly 2 mil for another 2 seasons after this one. MAYBE they'll be willing to do 1 mil for an extra cost, but 50% for that term is really pushing it when he's already kn a great deal.

How do you take the awful trade from the troll ACGM and make it worse? I've never been a fan of Laine as a player, but he's a steal at 4.3 mil for 2 years. Not to mention Chicago isn't even close to the cap floor for next year. This is literally a 0 risk move for Chicago with fantasy upside and you want Columbus to pay you on top of the retention?

Can't see Columbus considering that, even with you doing them the favor of taking Peeke's contract.
KJ has a way higher ceiling and and has been a lot more impactful for them since the AHL stint. A late 1st doesn't make up the difference there and Columbus has no incentive to move him in the first place.

Zegras Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>I agree I don't think Columbus should trade either player. It was more if they were somehow disgruntled, didn't like the teams direction or front office bs. This type of trade is the only realistic trade I see happening for Zegras. I wouldn't be say Columbus is deep at LHD which is why I included one. Neither Zellweger or matenchyuck are sure things, both likely make it but you know what I mean. They could easily draft Levshunov since they will likely be right up there.
Ideally just exploring different ideas since it's boring as a Detroit fan right now.</div></div>
Yeah, get what you're saying 100%. I think realism wise, it'd really take a lot of deterioration from where we're currently at for either player to be move for those reasons, though it doesn't hurt to suggest it as a thought exercise or for fun or whatever (as opposed to what all the TOR/BUF ACGMs I've seen are doing with Jiricek 😂😂
I actually think Levshunov could be in play for them regardless in the draft, since outside of Jiricek, their RD room is basically Severson and a bunch of meh NHLers with flaws + Ceulemans. But he basically becomes a must have if they were to move Jiricek.

Zegras Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>Yeah, the progress of KJ, Sillinger, and Chinakhov especially give me hope for the future. I think it's more addition by subtraction that we need (Peeke, Provorov, Tarasov, Jarmo/JD), trim the fat; form an identity; add another top-5 pick; get a new FO; let the kids grow and see where that takes us.</div></div>
Definitely. I think it's pretty unfortunate the moves they made for Severson and Provorov (plus all the injuries last year), specifically because it gave the fanbase more hope than it really should've had for this year. Which has made a lot of people spiteful that they're so bad again. Admittedly, I expected better than 5th worse at this point for sure (though you could put a lot on awful coaching), but I always knew it was gonna be at least 2 more seasons, probably 3 before the pieces could potentially come together for a legit good team. Just hope the new FO and HC are given the patience they'll deserve for everything to come together.
I do feel pretty bad for Tarasov though. First all the big injuries really killing him when he looked like he had real potential for a bit. And now the FO pushing him down our throats when he's been terrible, leading to a lot of hate for him. Feels really unfair for him unfortunately.
