Playoff Roster
Its a start but, its still not good enough.
Adding more bottom pairing D just isn't the answer. We have lots of those as it is.

Different Leaf Lines
Its still a one line team with a leaky defence and two guys between the red poles that can't seem to get out of their own way.

Absolutely no chance that either team considers this. Both offers are weak.

Very fair offer. Arizona would be foolish not to take that were it ever on the table.
The Leafs can most certainly afford another "highly paid right D" if they did the right thing with their other underachievers currently on this team. They won't. Far too enamoured with their own.

How much will Bunting cost
He's on pace for around 65 points. If he continues to produce those numbers next year as well, you can look at Zach Hyman as a pretty decent comparable salary wise.
Bunting will be younger than Hyman was when he signed with the Oilers and plays a similar top six LW role.
65+ points gets you 5+ million dollars in the NHL with relative ease these days.

Brutal.
Leafs get fleeced in the first two trades and the Nashville trade isn't even close to a needle mover for me.

Sell the farm for Gibson
Drafting Gibson in 2011 over Tyler Biggs would've been a better course of action.
They needed a goalie. One was available. They took some beefcake clown that has never played a game in the NHL.

Leafs to the Cup 3
Arizona definitely declines. That is a brutal offer if there is a retention included that they'll be paying for three more years.
Its not a good enough offer for Miller with a retention. Vancouver could do better and they will when he is eventually traded this season.
I'm not big on the Seattle deal at all. Larsson would be an upgrade over both the guys leaving in the deal but I think the Leafs could do better.

Severson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MrDinkiee</b></div><div>No thanks, Leafs aren't trading their first. I'm fine moving away from Liljegren since it will be a log jam on the right side, but anything more is a big no from the Leafs</div></div>
The Leafs will be trading their first. Of that I am pretty certain. It may not be for Severson but, they will be trading it.
There is no log jam anywhere on this teams D core. Everyone, including Liljegren has been given the chance to prove they belong higher up in the lineup and everyone has failed to deliver.
At present, Liljegren is a 6/7 defenseman. Not good enough to play on the top pair. Not strong enough defensively to play on a shutdown pair. He may become more than that in the future, but I doubt it. I see him as a lower pairing guy on the right side.
Hope is not a plan and hoping that Liljegren turns into something that he likely won't is foolish dreaming.
I hope he improves. I just wouldn't bet on it and he's not good enough to start above the bottom pair at present. Ideally, he'd be a 7/8 when the playoffs start.
The Leafs have larger issues with their D core than most care to admit or recognize. If they don't so some serious upgrading, that and the duo of broken goalies will be their undoing. Of that I am certain.

No it isn't. Watch it happen.
He is a stable top four RHD with term. A first is certainly not too much.
They are not "giving up a lot" at all. You've included two bottom pairing guys with very little upside. There's no way NJ would consider this without a 1st rounder included.

No way should it be a top prospect. No chance. Especially with zero retention. It should be a 1st round pick though.

If you take out the 2nd and 3rd you've probably got a deal. Canucks fans will say otherwise but, they would be incorrect.

another yotes deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rgwhite17</b></div><div>Ya I would agree it’s not enough. I wouldn’t worry about getting crouse too. Even the retention isn’t necessary but if they would retain some for another prospect I’d look into it.
I would try hard to hold onto knies and roberston. They will need the two of them coming into the lineup over the next couple years.
Chychrun can also make niemila expendable. I know he’s a right shot but as I’ve tried to point already to a few people they can just play rielly, chychrun, sandin as they left side now and into the future. With Brodie, liligren and holl or another depth right shot that is a very strong defence. They obviously need to figure out the muzzin situation. If he’s here next year someone will have to play the right side but I’m pretty confident he would be traded when he has one year left.
I’d shoot for niemila, dermott, a first then dip into the b level forward prospects to get enough value. I’d honestly do 2 firsts with niemila and dermott if that’s what it took.</div></div>
Niemela shoots right. That IS a factor. He will not be in the NHL for a couple of years at least but... the fact of the matter is... RHD puck moving guys are simply harder to find.
Adding Chychrun means they wouldn't need Sandin.
If they pull off a trade like this then the top six is likely...
Rielly / Brodie
Chychrun / ??? (Another trade)
Muzzin / Lyubushkin
That is a pretty decent top six IMO, (depending on the other addition).
It doesn't matter anyways. The Leafs are not trading for Chychrun.
