What I would do if was GM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Trmaus12</b></div><div>I like the idea of Forsberg retained and Chychrun, I bet we're gonna sign a NHL level backup goalie and sign Bussi, let them battle for the backup position and yea maybe he gets buried, but at least we have a certified backup that has played in the nhl.
We'd probably want a bit higher pick than a 4th but not entirely sure</div></div>
The open question is last year’s terrible performance an anomaly or a sign of things to come with Forsberg. When I believe Chris Driedger at 1.1M is more attractive than Forsberg at 1.75M, that isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement
I view his inclusion as a slight negative. Less so at full retention.
That said, if Boston wants Chychrun AND Ottawa can convince Ullmark to come, I think it would be interesting. deal. I probably prefer the Boston first so we could allocate money to a forward.

I’d give him 5 years at 6.5 nothing more</div></div>
Like I said, I don’t believe Forsberg is worth 1.75M and it would basically be burying 650k instead of 275k if Bussi is what he appears to be. Probably not end of the world, but also not ideal. I personally believe Bussi is better suited as a backup compared to Forsberg, but that’s just an opinion
Curious to see if that offer would get Ullmark to waive. Maybe with a full NMC and massive protections. If it is Ottawa, my guess is he’d want a premium.

Don’t think Boston takes Forsberg without full retention. Hes likely going to be buried in Providence.
What’s the extension you are paying Ullmark to consider this deal?

Three Way Deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Trmaus12</b></div><div>Debrusk is worth 4mil and not 6mil, if he wants that much we need to let him walk. Debrusk needs a good linemate to produce so I don't consider him a true top-6 forward.</div></div>

I understand your logic for sure. Again, in this scenario, signing Lindholm means not enough cap space for Heinen and having Heinen and DeBrusk is a better team than one with just Lindholm in my opinion. Heinen is a strong bottom six forward.

I want the Bruins to remain a defensive minded team, but they also need to be able to score goals. I would take DeBrusk at $5-6M over Lindholm at $7-8M and have the cap to resign Heinen. So DeBrusk and Heinen together > Lindholm for me.</div></div>
I think you are looking at 5.5 to 6.5M for DeBrusk and 7.5 - 8.5M for Lindholm.
I prefer Lindholm, but I want a center adjustment.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DFence</b></div><div>That’s fine. In any event, I do think Necas is the type of dynamic talent they need up front. I would prefer Necas over guys like Lindholm and Stephenson because of his age and his speed and because I don’t think he’s reached his ceiling yet. His ceiling playing with Pastrnak would be very high.</div></div>
I don’t believe he is a center. He is a poor fit defensively for the system as a center plus his face off numbers are weaker than id like for a conversion candidate. If they are paying him this salary and putting him on powerplay 1, I doubt he will have an issue playing RW.
I would sign Lindholm over DeBrusk if we acquire Necas. I’m not sure Heinen gets 2.5m on the open market, but he’s played well this year.

I get what you’re saying with Ullmark. You’re probably right. More likely Detroit plays a trio of “1B” type guys next year.

I could see a Bert reunion but it’d have to make sense for both sides as Detroit needs his style of play if they want to potentially make a playoff run. If Bert is looking for 6+ Mill or more than 3 years then Detroit walks away.
I agree on Perron but I think a short/cheap deal is good for leadership, a little grit, and some secondary scoring.
I’d love Roy but I think someone is going to pay him more than 6 mill. If he takes 5mill, then sign him and drop Bert.
I think Edvinsson is going to be a stud but it will take a little time.
Agree with Mazur and I’d love for him to make the team, but I’d rather not bank on that. Kasper, Soderblom, and Danielson have a chance as well if imagine.</div></div>

Red Wings badly need a top 4D like Roy to give Seider some help.
Edvinsson will certainly help but he's just a rookie.
Mazur looks very good for Grand Rapids.

BRUINS Ullmark will be traded
Not to Ottawa he's not, Ullmark isn't wasting his career on a team that's barely out of a rebuild. I bet 100% he winds up in Carolina.
Give $6,000,000 to a guy who just had double hip surgery two years ago is crazy, plus at this stage Monahan isn't a 1C but a 3C at best.

Sens decline Ullmark blocks. Same old story.
If you took Pinto out, it’s much closer.
A trade would like more like - that 1st, Forsberg 50% retention, 2nd tier prospect for taking Forsberg.
Ullmark still blocks though. He’s not going to Ottawa.

Not a bad trade proposal there, Chychrun's value is low at least compared to what it was in Arizona.

Could see this type of scenario happening, except Ullmark really seems to value his NTC and will use it as much as he can, and OTT is likely on it
If youre trading Ullmark for Chychrun, it feels like there has to be an extension involved, acquiring Chych would only free up 400k and only have him for one year. Optimal asset managment with trading Ullmark would be to:
1. Free up cap space
2. Acquire valuable assets that have little to no effect on the cap (draft picks/prospects)
3. Acquire a top 6F (preferably C)
4. Improve on LHD
In that order^
That defense would make a lot of fans happy, pretty strong all around

The Bruins are going to sign an insurance policy. You’ll notice I have Bussi making it and in reality. Forsberg will be buried (oops that was a mess up and I fixed it).
I was trying to figure the max amount for the final forward. It likely costs us 275k in cap space, but the alternative is probably signing a Chris Driedger type for $1.1M

The flexibility comes from moving his cap hit, if we are retaining we are not accomplishing it, we’ll just keep him if that’s the case. Shop elsewhere. 🤷🏻♂️

Tough to play against
TSN (via LeBrun through the Athletic) has a post about Vancouver planning to push hard to keep Lindholm, and they very well should. . . . He's a great player and they spent substantially to acquire him. But I wanted to ask any Vancouver fans how they feel about it. (?) He's a pretty comparable player to the guy they couldn't make fit (or refused to) not too long ago, captain Bo Horvat, and I want to know if it frustrates the fan base at all. (?)
It's likely Lindholm could get close to the same $$$ amount on the open market that Horvat signed for with the NYI. I guess that's the difference between being competitive or not, it sure changes decision-making in a hurry but in a big way. While not a fan of Vancouver (even though I live here), I really like Horvat, and couldn't believe (at the time) that the Canucks were committing to Miller and moving on from their captain, but that's the business I suppose.
