Yeah I'd say Ohlund or Edler. Completely agree it says more about the Canucks blue line historically though, but surely that's even more reason to cling onto Quinn and charge an absolute ransom if we let him go.

Wholeheartedly agree that this is our best course of action.
We should be able to deal Beau & Myers for some picks too (and retain if necessary), as we get closer to the trade deadline.
Also just as an fyi I'd say you're a bit low on Bear and Hoglander's next deals.
Evolving Hockey has Bear at $2.7m x3 and Hoglander at $1.4m x2

Assume this is a troll or an NHL 23 recreation? Props if so.
But can can you imagine even for a second the cost of the Canucks retaining $21million?
It's given me a proper laugh at the thought of you going through that process (for a PPG player) and coming up with THAT return.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Smitty426</b></div><div>Its not that he is not worth it, he is, its the cap problem it puts us in. Its a great marketing coup and would make Jack happy! Nemec is cheap and on a ELC ($918, 333) QH is at $7,850,000 for 4 more. Thats $6.93 M added to cap if we did nothing else. Mercers salary should back out of that (say $3.5-4 x 4)
$3M more to have the 3 H boys hurts the team IMO. I think the Devs have what they need in Luke and Nemec both who will be cheap in the near term to set us up well for competing long into the playoffs shortly. Getting Quinn is getting what Luke and Nemec might be. We need a couple of stout young defenders for long playoff runs. Its a nice idea but winning is better than marketing.</div></div>
Completely agree with you and I wouldn't do it as the Devils (or the Canucks for that matter).
Quinn is already the best defenseman in Canucks history and is likely a 1000 point player.
But rest assured there are many people in the hockey world who absolutely would do this, you'd just have to hope Fitzgerald isn't one of them.

Feel Detroit would need to add another pick in that Van trade, Myers with retention is seen as someone who can return a mid round pick as the season progresses.

Absolutely not a chance Benson gets drafted that high, VERY likely he doesn't even go top 10.
Also almost guaranteed Dvorsky goes top 10, as will Reinbacher.

Sale, Cristall, Dragicevic and even Benson way too high.
Reinbacher, Willander, Leonard, Danielson, Honzek way too low.
Sorry if this is just your order, but I'm referring to how the order will actually look :)

Canucks obviously aren't interested in moving Demko, but to give you an idea of value Canucks would expect:

Pickering
Hallander
Blomqvist

I agree that the value is lopsided, but that's what a trade for Quinn would entail.
From your pov, what would the value for a near point per game 23 year old defenseman be, who's extremely talented brothers also play for the acquiring team (thus adding extra appeal), be?

Whilst I'm inclined to agree, this was proposed by a Caps fan and made a lot more sense to me, the more I thought about it.

The reference to 'extreme' is in regard to the Canucks trading away Petey, Quinn and Miller.
Agreed that it's under his value, but it's near on impossible to obtain fair value for league stars, it just doesn't happen.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>
I think Pettersson is an 85 point guy, while I see hughes as a 100+ guy.</div></div>
You make some valid points, but this one is entirely baseless. They're both 100+ guys.
Petey has been in the top 3 players for hitting the post/crossbar for the past 3 seasons.
Kuzmenko is the first consistent line mate Pettersson has had in his Canucks career, shooting at a reasonable percentage. In fact he centered 28 different even strength lines last season alone.
Almost unheard of for an elite player.
His 5 most common line mates last season were:
1. Andrei Kuzmenko
2. Anthony Beauvillier (First played in Feb 2023)
3. Ilya Mikheyev (Last played Jan 2023)
4. Brock Boeser
5. Lane Pederson (Lost to waivers Jan 2023)
To score over 100 points in an awful Canucks team, with those line mates, while also being by far the team's best penalty killer, is borderline incredible.

What if Jack wants to be a Canuck
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Jack is better now, 3 years younger, and cheaper long term. over the course of the next 7 years, jack likely produces 1 mill a year (as a very low estimate) more value than pettersson, at a cost thats probably 3 mill a year cheaper. That's 28 mill in surplus value over the term of the contract. At least worth multiple 1sts.</div></div>
Agree largely with this, however Jack absolutely is not better now.
Petey had more points than him last season on a MUCH worse team, whilst being by far the better defensive player.
Petey's arguably one of the best defensive centers in the league, so much so that he was in the Selke conversation. The only people who disagree are those who haven't watched him play.
