How its done
Trading for him is the easy part and you still failed. This is not it.
The hard part is how to dismantle the team to keep him. The answer is…you dont. It’s not worth it. So no point in doing t it to begin with.

That remains to be seen, of course, with NHL games for Lohrei when they come. But Bjornfot was picked higher (not a TRUE indicator of level of play, obviously, but it's one of the few comparison data points we have currently), and has already over 100 NHL games on his resume.</div></div>
TB has zero offense to his game and likely never we’ll. Lohrei is a converted fW that has a lot of offense to his game and making great strides on D. I’d say he has a higher ceiling.
Where one is drafted has little indication of NHL success. Just scouting opinions which are lot guesswork. Also quality of draft class makes matters.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>I mean that's just not true. Bjornfot immediately becomes the best LD prospect in Boston's pipeline and (speaking from experience of someone who watched a ton of Derek Forbort), is already about there in terms of being able to replace Derek on the left. Toby plays a different game than Forbort, though, so it doesn't necessarily fit the role that Forbort plays. But dismissing a former 1st round pick who's close to being a top-4 D, a 2nd, and a 3rd as a "garbage return" for a goalie who has a total of 70 games of experience behind the best defense in the league is over-reactionary.
For the record, I also don't think this trade works for either team. But let's not go saying the value isn't there. The 2nd round pick would need to be brought in well closer to the present time than 2025, but the base of the ingredients looks about right. The pieces just don't work for the individual teams (LA needs LD, so won't be trading one out. It's much more likely they'd deal from their stable of RD).</div></div>
Lohrei is better than Bjonfort

Boston will just keep its picks and players. They don’t need to do anything.
If you want to add Bjugstad and cheap d man going to Boston they might think about it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>Hughes wouldnt even let you finish before you heard laughter coming from Montreal</div></div>
No worries, Boston not moving Lohrei and 1st for injury prone 3rd liner, who isn’t even an upgrade over Frederic, and a d man they don’t need.

Bridge deal.
And if he is valuable enough to get the contract you are implying than he is worth far more than that garbage return.
If Boston were to trade Swayman for a defenseman his name would be Chychrun. Not a stiff whose ceiling is a #5 with a couple of picks that won’t amount to anything.
Bjornfjort would be 6th or 7th in the org depth chart for LD.

Title says playoff roster. No cap in playoffs. Also 25 man roster, so take out 2m for Stralman and Wags. ROR would need some retention, but doable. But they are not making that kind of move anyway.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>babouie</b></div><div>COYLE has a horrible contract . Paying 5.25 miilion to a 3rd line center for a player that gets 10 to 16 goals a year . That said trade does not make sense for both teams . Hawks wont take back a horrible long term contract . Hawks getting a very very late 1st and giving back a 2nd is not enough of a return for JT . If hawks are retaining 5.25 mil it has to be at least a 1st coming back . TOEWS IS ON A PACE FOR 25 GOALS . JT and Bergeron are 2 of the top 10 faceoff men in the league JT has a 64 faceoff percent he can give 37 year old Bergeron a break during long grind of the playoffs . He is easily worth a 1st rounder on his own</div></div>
Wow such a bad take. :shakehead
Clearly don’t watch Bruins games, or understand hockey.
After Bergy and Marchy, Coyle is the best 200 ft forward on the team.
Has become an elite on the PK, worked on his faceoffs and is now over 50%, can play anywhere in the lineup. .5ppg, strong as anyone in the league on the puck. Does so many little things that don’t show up on the scoresheet.
What’s even more comical is how you are crying about Toews being on pace for 25 goals. Ok. JT 13g 27pts. Coyle 10g 25pts. Wow. 🙄
Boston isn’t giving up 3 more years of Coyle for rental Toews that would be nothing more than a lateral move, straight up, sure as hell are not adding too.
The only thing you really got right, this makes zero sense for both teams.

Not even worth entertaining this discussion as the hawks would easily keep Kane until the offseason if that's the price anyway.

Horvat rumors
So the Bo likely extends in Boston….let’s look.
62.8m committed to 12 players next year.
4.5 in bonus overages carried over = 67.3
Pasta/Bo 20m = 87.3 for 14
Sway/Freddy 4m = 91.3m for 16
Roughly 5m to fill remaining 7 slots = 96.3 cap hit
96.3 is a big number.
Who you going to move out. Reilly for sure. That saves 3m but you replace him on the roster so 2m.
94.3. Who’s next. Ullmark? Grizz? Debrusk? Coyle? Going to have move out at least 2 maybe 3 while taking no cap back.
Is it really likely they sign him to an extension?

Not going to even entertain why you think otherwise as every playoff team would take him for basically free. Kane has some of the best playoff numbers of any player in the league today. Yes, he has a hip impingement that he's been dealing with for a couple of years, and yes his numbers are down on a terrible team in which he is disengaged on the ice, but doesn't change the fact every playoff team would want him if cap hits weren't an issue.</div></div>
They would be crazy to for all the reasons i stated above.
You can fanboy all you want, i expect it and understand it. No worries. But If you are on the other side of it applying logic as opposed to fandom you see it completely differently. 🤷🏻♂️

He isn’t thriving playing with Bergy and Marchy. It’s a fantasy. Edm need cap space like Boston does. It’s a lateral move in cap and backwards move in talent. Makes zero sense for them.
