I honestly thought we would deal Reilly somewhere + we don't even have room in Laval for him. I like the kid, he is good, but he's losing his opportunity

That's very short sighted. They're two different players that offer very different abilities and styles. Once mete get's in his stride, we'll see his true abilities like when he was in juniors

I do think Juulsen will take the spot over Folin but he hasn't played in a while and I think it would do him good to get his pace and game warmed up with Laval

Based on Kucherov bridge 2016
I feel like I always have to preface this on any comment but as an FYI, I'm a Habs fan...
I want Marner to stay with the leafs. Rivalry aside, I want Canadian teams to succeed and Marner is integral to that. I also think that Salaries are getting absurd, but if anybody deserves to be on par with Matthews and Tavares, it's him. With that being said, I find it hard to believe that Dubas doesn't get this done. I'm confident Marner will be a leafs player but from a Marner point of view, if he's going short term, it's got to be much higher money. What if he gets hurt? He shoots himself in the foot there. There's a lot of behind the scenes consideration here

I think people are taking this too seriously. Clearly these trades are wack and would never happen but was cool to see these lineups together (especially Halifax 2.0 and the Fins, haha). Pretty cool

Devils Favorite to Sign Shattenkirk
Pretty low risk signing for that term so wouldn't hurt. I would imagine that Devils will be seeking out a middle 6 RW though. Someone who can put up 20 goals and 40 points would be very ideal for you guys and better balance out the roster.
Justin Williams would be a great addition as a vet presence (and the man can still play) and I think Tobias Rieder can become a solid player for the Devils. Fresh start, solid opportunity, no stress. Worth a shot

What are you talking about? Leddy blows them all out of the water. HABS take this deal 100% cause then you have,
Mete Weber
Leddy Petry
Chiarot Anybody
Reilly and Alzner are worth nothing to us honestly. Kulak I like a lot, and maybe he can be a RD on the 3rd line but Leddy stabilizes it so much. His contract is decent and only 3 years so I wouldn't be too worried about it

Let the kids play
I'm usually quite weary of making kids take the NHL leap too early but If any team can do it and successfully develop them it's Chicago. You guys have so many top talented players and vets that they can play such a huge mentor role in their game for the first year or two. Additionally, you guys can play them in a more reserved role so that they can get used to the workload, speed and adversary (especially all the travel).
Dach is a big boy and has the NHL body. Definitely can make the leap in. Boqvist, skill and confidence wise looks ready but to learn under Seabrook will help him too.
However, i just don't think you can scratch De Haan

I think I misread his contract, so having him for 3 more years is already solid. I'd say he's likely good to go until 33 and by then you may have knocked him down to 2C and found a new number 1. The circle of hockey I guess right

cap an issue
Although I do think it's an over payment for Trouba coming off a career year, it's the name of the game I guess. But Rangers have A LOT to look forward to in the future cause defense seems quite settled and now wingers are set too with Panarin and Kakko. I'm not too familiar with their system but I do think they need to start investing in Cs.
Additionally, even their cap won't be too much of an issue cause in 2 years Shattenkirk and Stall free up like $12.5M in space. They can even elect to trade off Kreider at the deadline this year (assuming their not in a cup spot) to get back quite the nifty return.
Zibanejad NEEDS to be signed long term because he's now starting to hit his full stride, he's young AND he's going to have some pure goalscorers to play with. He's their MUST sign IMO

My original offer for Laine was (which I think gives you guys more value),
Drouin

Juulsen OR Fleury

How much cap space is left
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>He doesn't deserve as much as Tavares as he was a UFA. UFAs get more than RFAs. Would the Leafs have been willing to pay Tavares 11 million AND give up 4 firsts?
In regards to Matthews vs Marner, Matthews is likely a tad overpaid. But he is both a goal scorer and a centre. Both of those are worth a lot more.
In their first two years of their contract Matthews was in another tier to Marner. In their third year (contract year), Marner gets to play with one of the best centres in the league and all of a sudden is in the same tier.
Regardless the most an RFA winger off ELC has gotten in the CBA is Tarasenko at 7.5 million.
The most an RFA winger has ever gotten was Kucherov (but remember Kucherov was a year from UFA so could always have gone to arbitration, gotten 1 year and forced UFA as Stone did).
Everyone can talk about him deserving 10 or 11 million or whatever but it's literally never been done. 9 million is literally unprecedented.</div></div>
We're essentially agreeing that pretty much everyone is overpaid. And although you are right in that a C has a slight edge in value, I don't think it adds $3M over someone of better point production.
Kucherov clearly took a price cut and Aho got a little burned on his offer sheet contract. I think $10-$10.5 for Marner is fair value for both camps. I hope Toronto is able to resign them cause I want Canadian hockey teams to succeed. Dubas just needs to find a way to make it fit

I'll pretense this by saying that players are getting greedy and over-payed. That being said, He has been the leafs best player and I would compare his salary to Tavares and Matthews. He doesn't deserve less than them. They all should have been paid $10.5 and call it a day.
If Dubas doesn't move quickly, an offer sheet is going to screw you guys.

Poehling is ready FLA trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>not at all , i just am more familiar with our depth as i watch KHL regularly so i know how important Romanov is going to be in 2020-21 when his contracts done with KHL Gagarin cup Champs i also know Brook plays LD regularly and actually is a much more moble defensman from this side which is why MTL experimented during day 1 second scrimage with Brook playing LD .
i've also familarized myself with Struble who was top 3 in 7/10 challenges and the Draft Collumbine and the most dominant athlete there since Darnell Nurse according to Dreger .
so yes maybe this year we need a 2nd LD to play inbetween Mete and Kulak but honestly i wouldnt waste the cap .
unless we could get a Gustafsson who CHI has seemingly chosen to replace rather then compete during next summers UFA frenzy around him .
Then that would make sense but only if we could make it work for a Danault , Mete and a 2nd with Gustafsson agreeing to a 6-6.5m dollar 7 year deal then immediately sign Duchene .
this would be the only Scenario that works because you're upgrading pieces rather then trying to jam more in place without considering the depth we have knocking at the door. Our sportsnet top 10 was so deep that ikonen,Evans the Teasdale made the list when in years past those 3 would have been top players bar none .</div></div>
Well, sir, you sold me, haha. Thank you for all these facts. Do you have a link from the Dreger comments on Struble?

I think Florida is trying to clear cap so there's not much incentive for them to take on Alzner, even if They give us Reimer. Don't think the 2nd pick is good enough to take on that difference in contract

Tatar-Kotkanemi-Drouin
Byron-Poehling-Shaw
Lehkonen-Thompson-Armia

Byron-Poehling-Shaw will be a hard hitting line that plays along the boards and infront of the net creating momentium.
Lehkonen-Thompson-Armia play a shutdown role taking bulk defensive faceoffs allowing 3rd line more time in the OZ
Thompson and Armia are big enough and physical enough to offer grit on the 4th line while Lehkonen brings speed and skill but can be rotated out for Weal or Deslauriers depending on the need for that nights match ups . (for example playing bruisers on the west coast Deslauriers makes more sense )</div></div>
I like the proposed lineup a lot but the danger is that we are praying that all the players perform career seasons again, which may not happen. We clearly need a top LHD before anything, but another scoring forward would really help. How to fit them in? Depends on what it takes to acquire a LHD

What do you think it takes to acquire Ehlers
I think it will depend on which team is knocking but I assume (from what I've read and seen) that Jets are looking for a young, solid, cost-controlled RD and likely a wing roster player (or 1st round pick)
