Staois 23 Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vegasloveforthebills</b></div><div>Is this true? I thought the rule was if a team trades a player, they can’t trade back for him with retention. I wasn’t aware it was true if a player left as a FA.</div></div>
The Rangers had Tarasenko on their reserve list with retention within the last year, Seravelli recently confirmed the rule. The Rangers can only acquire his full contract.

Vegas has to take Smith back at his full cap hit, they aren't allowed to bring him back with retention within a year of trading him.
But if Stone is out long term, I could see Vegas bringing Smith back, with his full 5m cap hit, for like a 5th.

My understanding is some contracts are covered by the insurance company, while others may not be depending several factors but most notable is a players injury history.
Obviously a player who’s contract is not covered by insurance is more difficult to move because the money now comes out of he acquiring teams pockets.

Swapping dollars for draft capital is always a good move IMO, but the insurance issue would be the key here. Lehner is owed $10.5m actual money and I think that's a lot for a future 2nd. That said, if this deal happened I wouldn't hate it. Draft picks are good.

Insurance was a good point. I do think from the LVK point if view. It would be nice to accrue cap space during the year for another run. That'll go a long way and hopefully McCrimmon learned from JBB's mistake. That's why he needed to pay through the nose on Jeannot. Be forewarned that might be the cost for an acquisition come TDL if the LVK keep him.

The bottom six is basically filled with Carrier, Howden, Kolessar, Amadio, Leschyshyn, Rondbjerg etc. Plus I think they try a Brisson or Morozov in the bottom 6 this year.
Like I said, I’m very ok trading Kolessar. But it has to be a cap savings. And taking on 2 guys doesn’t make sense for them.</div></div>
I'll up you Clifford + Hirvonen

Right now they have a logjam on defense. I would bet Martinez is moved. And then Brossoit as well

Vegas Golden Knights Trade Template
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vegasloveforthebills</b></div><div>He’s good. But he can’t put his scoring touch to get higher then the 4th line.
I just think because he truly is a bottom 3 type player, he won’t fetch more then a 4th rounder. Especially with 3 years left on his deal.
And I think Vegas would take a 4th, to clear his cap. Similar to selling low on Schmidt last season. The cap space would be the key part</div></div>
Gotcha. I kinda just assumed that Carrier would cost more by default considering Brett Howden fetched a 4th from Vegas. I originally didn't take Vegas's perspective into consideration about moving his contract.
I'll keep the trade at a 4th, but instead of Tarmo Reunanen I'll send an AHL winger

I agree with <a href="/users/villenash" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@villenash</a>
Janmark could be resigned for 3rd line LW.
Perhaps a more reliable backup as well.
Just my opinion though.

I’d try Patrick at 1C to see if he can get back to his pre-draft form. The guy needs to build confidence, and being given that opportunity could really inspire him to pick up his play.

Maybe they get the first and last pick, we keep the middle one and give them our 2022 first?

Rumours on HNIC Getzlaf to Vegas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vegasloveforthebills</b></div><div>I’m not saying Vegas isn’t interested, and Getzlaf may waive for the closeness but,
They literally have 200k in cap space, they would need Anaheim to retain half and take Martinez. Or if they want to keep Martinez get a 3rd team involved to retain more.
I can see something like Holden, NJD second and a B/C prospect to Anaheim for Getzlaf and Retention
A 4th to another team for retention similar to Det in TB/CLB deal
Getzlaf to Vegas
Unless of course an injury were to happen to use LTIR (wink wink)</div></div>
Would be very surprising seeing him leave Aneheim for sure and as u said Vegas would need to work around lots of things.
I just heard there's interest lol thats all

I could see them potentially selling a few guys -- Haula, Richardson, Borowiecki, Cousins, Sbisa (if he ever gets healthy).
But the big names like Ekholm, Jarnkrok, Granlund will stay in NSH I think.
