Incorrect. He absolutely knows what he’s doing-he’s saving the blues $8.5 mil, and getting back picks and a prospect. Smart business if you’re St Louis-not so much if you’re Florida.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McRanteskog</b></div><div>Bennett is a notch below Girard unfortunately.
He’s a career 35pt/ season player making 4.4milx3, a bit too rich. Heck, deduct his last seasons production and his contract looks even worse.</div></div>
I think he's shown that he's more than that now though. 0.8 ppg/ 0.41 gpg over his 85 games as a Panther. Not saying to completely discount his years in Calgary, but he's gone from a 13-14 minute a night guy in Calgary to 17-18 in Florida. If I was the Panthers I'd consider doing it straight up, mayyyybe adding a mid round pick, but absolutely no way on the Bennett for EJ trade, and as much as I love Byram, I'd be keeping Lundell 100% of the time.

Sure. But the best fun is always when there is a hint of possibility. PK doesnt even want to sign in Montreal despite all the roots he has here because he wants to be on a contender. No worthwhile free agent is signing in Montreal the next 2-3 years unless the Habs drastically overpay with little market interest or it's PLDrama!

No way this team is better than Tampa and Toronto, they're fighting with Boston and Detroit for third in the Atlantic.
The Metro likely takes up the two wild card spots: Carolina, NYR, Washington, Pittsburgh and potentially NYI all take the bacon. It's either third in the Atlantic or bust.</div></div>
Lmfao the islanders stink and we’re far better than Boston and goddamn Detroit we will battle with Toronto and easily be 2nd or 3rd in the pacific

Lundell has two seasons left on his ELC. Toews has two years until UFA status. I don’t think there is a chance in hell florida would consider this.

Weegar is not good so severson is much better but knight is not being traded for a 28 year old ufa. Knight isn’t going to jersey unless it’s a severe overpay

Marino was just traded for a low end prospect and a 2nd or third I forgot which one. Knight is worth much much more than that.

If both extend, it will not be a large margin W, amd certainly not an automatic one. First, we need to see how much they cost. And if one of them does walk, I fail to see how this could possibly be any sort of Calgary W. The pressure is on big time for them to get both of them signed for this trade to make any sense in the long run.

Don't be so quick to pass judgment. It may take a year to find out who really won this trade.

BackstromWilson comes back mid-late season
That Florida trade is egregiously bad. The whole reason the idea of them eating 4x$5M on Bob's contract came about is because they're in cap hell this season because the Keith Yandle & Scott Darling buyouts are costing a $6.575M cap hit this season - next year the Darling buyout penalty expires and the Yandle penalty drops to $1.24M, so they'll have more room to work with if they can get through this year.
This deal does none of that - you have them giving up Bob *with the full retention* AND sending away Anton Lundell after a 44-point rookie season, only to give them Lars Eller ($3.5M cap hit), Conor Sheary ($1.5M) plus Hendrix Lapierre and a 3rd. Lapierre is a decent prospect with nowhere near the ceiling of Lundell, and adding a 3rd doesn't make up for that value; on top of that, this deal winds up more or less cap neutral for Florida because they're taking in $5M of Eller & Sheary this year while retaining $5M on Bobrovsky. The dollars don't work and the ask is insane.

Hornquist only has 1 yr left. Moving his contract has no bearing on a Huberdeau extension as it would be expired before any extension kicks in

Screw advanced analytics. The guys got like 3 goals since Jan 1, and most of that time playing with McD. I'm sorry, but that's a line people use when making excuses for poor performance. 13 goals in 59 games isn't acceptable when playing in a hugely talented top 6, whether McD or Drai is your center.
