BIG overpay</div></div>
Ya, it is…but here’s the thing, it will have to be an overpay if you want him.
Mitts for Carlo in a hockey swap is probably pretty close. We could split hairs on it…whatever. Unlike others i’m meh on Mitts, the production is nice, the metrics say it’s a mirage. On the other hand there is Carlo’s concussion history.
If I’m GM i’m hesitant. Especially factoring in a new contract for him and what the demands will be. I can go out and get FW in free agency far easier they I can get Carlo’s replacement. And with Poitras, Lysell, Merkulov all needing spots i can fill it internally as well, something I can’t do with RD. I’d be more willing to pick/prospect route at the deadline. Once offseason hits i’ll lose interest.
So if he’s your guy…the guy you want. You are paying above market value. Otherwise you don’t get me interested.

assuming PTOs stay
There are honestly so many options it's essentially impossible to predict a roster at this point.
If Chiasson signs, he's likely in Prov either way. Heinen is the only one who plays in Boston if he's signed.
Boqvist and Lauko are getting picked up through waivers, it'll be Greer and Brown who are on the chopping block.
I could see if Lysell, Merkulov, Beecher or any of the kids make it out of camp they try to trade Boqvist instead of losing him for nothing.
I don't think anyone other than Pasta, Zacha, Marchand and JDB are penciled into a certain spot in the lineup, there's going to be a lot of movement.

You’ll never get Lauko through waivers, he’s making the team before Greer or Chiasson

I thought the first trade was bad. Then I looked at the second one. 2 4th round picks for Calle Rosen? On a team flush with LD options?

I'm usually the one getting made fun of for making bad trades so it's fun being on the other side. Anyways I don't think Washington would have much interest in trading for 2 guys who are upcoming UFAs

Sure right after you trade us EP (the good one) for Lucic straight up.
Jesus 🙄
Boston refused to trade Carlo for Horvat, what makes you think they’d do it for that pile of 💩?
Boston laughs hysterically and Carlo blocks with NTC.

I'm guessing there will be a lot of "no's" with this.

More like John Farrinasty. This is a very good pickup for the Bruins. Getting a good prospect for free doesn't hurt

Worst case he plays in minors for a total of $165,000 over the next two years. Best case, a minor miracle occurs and he contributes something to the Bruins.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pompadour_de_Armstrong</b></div><div>More like pretend, but it's a step in the right direction. Obvious hole in the lineup for a veteran defenseman. Arguably still a hole, but it looks a lot less shaky with Dumba, and when they fall short, the can take inventory at the deadline and see if there are deals to be made.
Spending money on quality veteran free agents without anchoring to term, and keeping all the draft capital banked away is a good compromise towards continuing the rebuild and trying to be more competitive for the players' and team's sake.</div></div>
I mean, they will be dangerous when Weber/Little/Voracek return ;-)

We have our options. Schenn is a guy you want as an option for a physical game but for a series with two teams that prioritize speed someone like Liljegren coming in probably makes more sense. And Holl gets undeserved flack, plays heavy, difficult minutes for us, arguably the most important D on our penalty kill - he's not coming out, despite being the scapegoat for many.

Thread:
(SJS / OTT) - Karlsson, Perron for Tierney, DeMelo, Norris, Balcers & picks
This is probably the most interesting trade in at least the past 5 years (if not 10).
OTT got:
- Chris Tierney/Dylan Demel/Balcers: Cap dumps, no need to talk about this much
- 2020 1st (Tim Stuzle): Is this good value? Yes, was it predicted that the Sharks would be terrible at the time? No. I think the Sens just got very lucky here and end up with a very good centre
- 2021 2nd (Zach Opstachuk): long shot prospect, could he be good in the future? Yes. But for right now, Meh
- 2019 2nd (Jamieson Rees): I honestly don't know who this is so no comment
- Josh Norris: Long shot prospect who's currently not able to stay healthy if his life depended on it
SJ got:
- Francis Perron: Really a nothing asset
- Erik Karlson: 100+ point defensemen, signs the most amount of money/season for a current denfensmen, helped SJ get to conference finals and 2nd round but demanded a trade which caused his value to drop.
What do I think of the trade, 5 years later: Ottawa got very lucky with how poorly SJ's preformance and SJ was stupid to put in the condition... SJ screwed up the contract negotiation and Karlson has only showed up in 1/5 of his tenure as a Shark
