Gavrikov's a positional-based defensive type and so analytics make him look like garbage; consequentially I'm not interested in those comparisons.

Summer of Pierre V2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>Assuming we move Gavvy at the deadline, our LD for next year would be Werenski, Berni, Bean, and Bayreuther if he is re-signed. I was thinking more numbers need than role need, and yes Brannstrom is fringe but he's got more upside than probably any of those 4 besides obviously Werenski. If the core next year were Z-Jiricek, Brannstrom/Bean-Boqvist, Brannstrom/Bean-Gudbranson/Peeke, that's one pure offensive pair and two pairs with a mix of offense/2-way and purely defense. That's definitely better than keeping our...14th forward? Whose upside is becoming concerning...
Not saying the Jackets should be heavily pursuing Brannstrom, but if this is the trade offered I think you take it on pure value and positional need (we still have a plethora of bottom-6 forwards).</div></div>
I think we're better off pursuing an actual experienced defensive type in free agency.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>Columbus would take that, it cleans up some of our forward logjam while getting a better player who fills a LD need. Honestly, I doubt Ottawa accepts though.</div></div>
How does he fill the need? He's another fringe offensive defenseman. We've got too many of those as is. We're already contemplating moving on from Jake Bean.

Enh. Foudy at least could be used as a forechecker here. I'm not sure where Brannstrom would fit. It's a fair deal, I just don't see it being useful for the Jackets.

canucks post draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aidanwalt</b></div><div>Thing is with losing gav, dermott isn't a bad replacement for him for the time being, and its a minor league player so I would say that CBJ make that deal
And as for Fabbro hes been rumoured to leave for awhile now so I think unless nashville switch coaches now, then he'll either be traded or walk to free agency.</div></div>
We're familiar with Dermott because of proposals involving him when he was a Leaf. He's not the sort of guy we'd be looking for. And TFW's really popular in Cleveland.
And the Fabbro rumors are largely speculative based on Hynes constantly scratching him and concerns about his next contract's value.

I'm not sure if that works for the Jackets or not. My inclination is to say "no" on the theory that getting Zboril doesn't make up for having to take on Reilly. We're really trying to avoid taking on term.

That's a no from the Jackets; TFW can stay in Cleveland and keep that team competitive.
For the Preds... that's possibly close to fair value, but I don't think Fabbro should be traded; I think Hynes should be replaced with someone who'll appreciate the kid.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mattkenn</b></div><div>I think the trade straight up is fair but I understand Columbus needs aditional incentive. Would a 2nd instead of a 4th do it?</div></div>
No. We need defensive defensemen and have a metric f***ton of offensive blueliners already. Brannstrom's just noise here. So the whole basis of your proposal just doesn't work for us.

If that pick for Nyquist is upgraded based on % of playoff games played, it works for the Jackets. Otherwise it's too low.

My trade deadline
Sending us Knies hurts Toronto more than it helps, because we don't want Even More Wingers and so he doesn't have the same value for us he'd have elsewhere.
We also pretty badly need defensive blueliners, so we'd be more inclined to keep Peeke.

Send off Kerfoot, a 1st, a 3rd, and a pick conditional on Nyquist's return for Gavrikov and Nyquist. Columbus should be happy with this return and can even retain on Kerfoot and flip to a contender separately.</div></div>
We <strong>still</strong> don't want Kerfoot.
