Florida Panthers signed Josh Mahura (1 Year / $925,000 AAV)
Love that the panthers signed him for another year and to get him under 1m with how steady he has been since he arrived is a great deal.

This gives me some hope for the upcoming contract with Huberdeau

He played amazing all year last year. So glad we resigned him, he filled that 4th line center role perfectly.

At this point, he's either a benchwarmer, or the starter in Charlotte.

New Jersey Devils signed Jonathan Bernier (2 Years / $4,125,000 AAV)
For two years, it’s not a bad signing. Cap hit is a tad high but he did solid on a bad Detroit team so I can’t imagine him being any worse?

I loved him last year in Florida but no way is he worth this much.

He’s still a serviceable center and a one year contract you can’t lose. If the jets don’t do well this year, he can be traded for an asset or two

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mondo</b></div><div>I don't know who this is.
Guess he's better than Yandle though.</div></div>
We picked him up on waivers this year from Carolina I believe and he absolutely killed it all year for us.

Show BarkovHuberdeau its worthwhile to sign long term
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>VijayPatel11</b></div><div>We need to re-sign forsling and keep him for ourselves
Perfect pairing with Weegar
Just trade for a top 4 defensive defenseman for Ekblad, buy out/trade yandle</div></div>
Idk if my post went through, I may have screwed up and not pressed submit. But Forsling with yandle allows us to buy out Stralmann, who would be off our cap end of next year. My intention with this scenario is to allow us to resign barky/huby to large/long term contracts. I personally see Huberdeau getting a Marner-size contract and Barkov getting a Matthews size one so any bit of cap space is necessary in my eyes

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Florida_Man_Maroon</b></div><div>Wouldn’t you want Lundell on the 3rd line and Accari on the 4th?</div></div>
I'd be willing to swap them out. I'd assume though coach Q wouldn't throw him right away on the third since he tends to shelter rookie players

Nutivaara is a solid Dman, scratching him for Graves seems a lateral move. Just trade Nutivaara for Graves is thats the case</div></div>
I'd be willing to swap out nuti for Den

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jrdroge25</b></div><div>Overpayment for Graves. Probably not enough for Dumba</div></div>
Dumba is going to be exposed to Seattle more than likely, this allows some sort of a return rather than nothing.
Graves felt like a decent payment just due to the fact it was a prospect who hasn't done much of anything for the Panthers yet and we are trash at development

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Radu47</b></div><div>Idk Graves is pretty dynamic and versatile
Even his pts/60 numbers are very impressive
I'd see Nutsy as a notch lower at best ultimately</div></div>
This describes my eyes pretty well. He seems like he is a much more defensively sound plyer than Nuti too. I do love Nuti and think he can be swapped out some with Gudas.
Denisenko just doesn't have the space and hasn't turned into much for the Panthers lately. Plus our development tends to be trash for players.

Leafs interested in Bertuzzi per Friedman
Realistically speaking, the leafs seemed to struggle with depth scoring, I feel like trading away someone like Robertson would be the opposite of the direction they want to go in. I can see the Lili added in alongside a higher pick. Maybe even dermott for bertuzzi+a pick

I want to see what he can do. From what i've read hes a decent 7th-8th dman, he will probably spend most of the season in charlotte.

I don't think so. I think the only way we retain him is by offering term which I don't think Zito or the owners are willing to do. He's apparently still somewhat in the mix with the cats but I just don't see it happening.

This makes sense and really isn't that awful of a contract. Markstrom is a great goalie..the flames window is in the next 3ish years and goaltending has been their worst position since kipp left. You worry about the last 3 years later on

I'm really confused. I understanding trading away Guddy because he really isn't that great, but shouldn't the ducks try to get younger? Seems odd to sign a 31 year old for 4 years when your team really isn't that great. No problems at all with shatty, just seems a bit strange
