Washington Capitals signed Rasmus Sandin (5 Years / $4,600,000 AAV)
Some people are saying it's too much but I beg to differ. I think it's perfect for what he brings.
The Leafs were crazy to trade Sandin in the first place. They complain how they don't have defence and then trade a 23 y/o top 4 D for 20 games of Erik Gustafsson and Easton Cowan (who does look great, hope he works out).

Overpaying a bunch of old goons, doing all 31 other teams a favour. Middesota forever taking Ls.

Washington Capitals signed Aliaksei Protas (5 Years / $3,375,000 AAV)
It seems like a lot right now but this contract is going to look so good in a few years. If the Caps weren't such an unbelievably bad offensive team this year his points would be way higher considering he's primarily a passer.

Minnesota adding more goons. Still not getting past the 1st round I'm afraid.

Minnesota Wild signed Marcus Foligno (4 Years / $4,000,000 AAV)
This is every bit as bad as the Wilson signing. It may have less term but Foligno is 3 years older and has already fallen off significantly. Minnesota must like being mid because they're in for another 4 years of it.

Washington Capitals signed Tom Wilson (7 Years / $6,500,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Physicality does not equal success. The most physical teams last year were, in order, Pittsburgh, Ottawa, Nashville, Philadelphia, New York Islanders and Arizona. Vegas was 14th.
They were 12th of the 16 playoff teams for hits/60 in the postseason.
I have no idea what Vegas' Cup win has to do with Tom Wilson. I don't see a connection.</div></div>
Vegas has a big strong team. Wilson plays a rough rugged game. The league is starting to value toughness again. That's what I'm driving at.

I voted no for the 7 years but here's the thing: players like Wilson don't grow on trees. He's a big, skilled power forward who brings character and leadership and can bully and intimidate other teams which is something not many NHL players can do in this era.
It's likely going to age poorly because of his injury history but the Caps are going to have a lot of cap space in the near future. Let's face facts: every team in the league would love to have a Tom Wilson on their team, especially after seeing how Vegas steamrolled their way to a Stanley Cup.

I was expecting double that AAV. Delly's a bulldog and I love watching him play. Hopefully he'll sign longer next summer, need more guys on the team with heart.

I honestly thought he'd get around $4M, so this is a great contract. And it's for 3 years! GMBM stays winning.

(DAL/COL) - Olofsson for Future considerations
I wish they would have got something, anything at all, but it's not really a big deal. He had 4 points in like 30 games, half a point in the minors and is 27. Not much of an impact but he was a tenacious forechecker for us. Maybe he becomes something with the Avs, who knows.

(MTL/DAL) - Dadonov for Gurianov
I don't love it, I don't hate it either. Denis has been dreadful this year and there was a strong chance he wouldn't be retained next year anyway. Dadonov hasn't been much better but has shown he can produce. Rick Bowness totally ruined Gurianov, too bad because he could have been a great top 6 goal scorer.
