a few trades from the avalanches point of view
Awful trades lol. Grubauer is way better and he was great in the playoffs until he got injured. Sure, Francouz didn't had the best postseason but he was incredible during the regular season and he's on a great contract. Murray - Hutch is such a downgrade lol

My problem for yours edition
That BUF trade is really bad. Schmaltz and Risto have a similar AAV. But Schmaltz is a pretty good top 6 center IMO, while Risto has been below average in any aspect of the game last year. His metrix gets worse every season for the past few years and he doesn't suit the Coyotes game. The trade barely improves their cap situation either. Raanta easily can be traded for draft picks if you want to clear cap space. And it wouldn't weaken the team like this trade does.
FLA declines and I'm not sure about the other trades. But I do know that this Coyotes team will be pretty bad. And the 10M cap space is fun but some of the bigger FA's won't sign in Arizona

Reverse roster from my earlier Leaf one
Yikes. Bura and Nichuskin will get more (lets say 4M additional cap hit). But that trade just doesn't work moneywise. Landeskog, Grubauer and Makar need an extension next year and all will get a raise. Sure, some money will get of the books. But Marner would ruin the cap situation for years to come given the uncertainties right now

Trading 1OA
Few notes. Batherson has been playing RW. Don't think he'll be an NHL center.
Also, I can't see Ottawa making that trade. It might work valuewise but still. OTT doesn't really like to pay big salaries, they are still a couple of years away from competing and Marner will be an UFA when he expires. So basically like 3 years of Marner before he walks away. Not worth giving up those assets. I mean, they have a chance to get someone as talented as Marner with 6 years of team control when keeping those picks. I feel like people are somewhat overvaluing Laf. The best player in the draft but scouts are somewhat questioning his ceiling compared to Byfield for example and apparently, some play-in teams don't have Laf at 1st lol.
If Ottawa stays patient, they're a contender in 3 years with a lot of cap space to acquire rentals because of those ELC's

Trying to contend
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>or pay a team to retain said cap in a 3 way trade?
That's what i suggested and at 4.5m cap MTL can use him 2-3 years then trade him with the ability to retain up to 1m more if need be. Given what Kimmo Timmonen got at 39 coming straight off IR to his new team i'm sure Vlasic will be fine and we can flip him
SJS pays , MTL waits 2-3 years to flip him before they get anything more then what he'll provide on ice.
That said everyone said Weber to MTL was a loss then he showed up producing so well fans shut up about losing the Subban trade and now actually claim we won it .
Fans always say dumb stuff in MTL , its the sad part about being a Habs fan</div></div>
I think it will be very hard to flip Vlasic in a couple of years. If I'm correct, players keep their NMC/NTC even after waiving it for a trade because of the new agreement. So if he waives now to go to MTL, he'll have his NMC at the Habs and is in full control again

Colorado Cup Roster
Graves > Zadorov and he'll be cheaper. No to Barrie, Bura definitely got more than 2 years on that deal. I think Winnipeg only makes that deal if you retain on Cole. There's no reason for Ottawa to make that trade. And if you'd even be able to get Formenton in that deal, you shouldn't trade him. He could become a really good 3rd line winger (maybe even 2nd line). And Johnson would be available for way less because Tampa needs him to leave to sign their RFA's. And Bellemare gets a 5th at best IMO

I think Ottawa should hang on to their 1st instead of handing Cirelli an OS. I think they'll select two forwards with their 3+5OA (Byfield/Stutzle and Rossi/Raymond). Next year will be loaded with defensive talent and Ottawa likely gets another (and maybe their final) top 10 pick to bolster their blueline. They got plenty of middle 6 centers and I doubt Cirelli is a true #1 center they should give up a lottery pick for

True, but still. This team lacks too much depth. Wingers aren't that good besides Kane and Marner, bottom 6 is below average. Defense is average, Gudas is a 3rd pairing shutdown defenseman playing top 4.

The Big Bad Of The West
Pass on the Toronto trade. Sure, Nylander is good. But I wouldn't trade Newhook to acquire him. Newhook develops good and hic ELC + top 6 potential will be valuable for the Avs, even if he stays 2-3 more years in the NCAA. With all the cap uncertainties, those ELC guys has even more value (considering a lot of contending teams are up against the cap)

Yes they are lol. Unless any of their RFA's sign an OS, they got the time to figure things out and to try and somehow move some NTC guys (which will be very hard). Sure, those players you mentioned are way easier to move, but Tampa wants to win a cup and trading any of those players would significantly weaken the team. Since most contenders are up against the cap and with all the uncertainties, it's very unlikely those RFA's get an OS from a team they like. Tampa will just wait, try to make room and if they fail, they hope to sign them to a Labanc-contract. They aren't in a hurry because they own the signing rights for a couple of years

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ragsandbluesfan</b></div><div>You don't see them taking byfield and rossi if both available?</div></div>
Tbh, no simply because they got a lot of middle 6 center prospects with Norris, Brown and Pinto. They have White who I think will be moved to the wing (like they did with Batherson). Adding Byfield and Rossi would be a bit too much considering their lack of high-end wingers. IMO, the Sens should target a center and a winger in the top 5

Hey ottawa fans
Probably depends on who they get at #3. If they get Byfield, I think they'll probably select Raymond, Perfetti or Holtz. If they get Stutzle, they should go with Rossi.
Drysdale is an option but their depth at RD is pretty good with Brannstrom, Thomson and JBD. The 2021 draft is stacked defensively and Ottawa likely has another lottery pick next year. Someone like Clarke had 38 points in 53 games as a 16 year old in the OHL and he's still ranked #5 (#4 among defensemen) at the TSN 2021 prospect list. I think Ottawa will focus in a defenseman next year

Those ridiculous Tampa trades are starting to get annoying lol. They are in the position to just wait and try to make some room for those RFA's. Sure they don't have the space right now to extend them, but they still own the signing rights. They'll just try to make some room to fit them under the cap. Only way to get them is offering a good trade (so a way better offer than yours), or to get them to sign an OS (which is unlikely in the case of Buffalo)

Rossi and Raymond your thoughts
Ottawa loses that Buff trade big time. Mittelstadt is a 3C at best if he somehow finds his game. Pinto is a fine prospect. 3C probably too but better suited for that role and he's good at face-offs.
Think those draftpicks look pretty good, unless Byfield is available at #3 (which is likely according to some rumors). If Raymond is available at 5, Sens should pick him. Otherwise Rossi or Holtz IMO

Big Moves
Sabres decline. They probably want someone like Tkachuk too. Which Ottawa definitely won't do. Any Eichel trade is impossible IMO, simply because Buffalo wants a couple of high end players and high draft picks, which is too much to give up for the other team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dzmets</b></div><div>Byfield is not going to be there at 5 for Sabres to pick will want #3 the San Jose pick to start with then #5, Tkachuk and Brannstrom then you have the Sabres attention. Short of that the Sabres agree to hang up the phone if Dorion mentions the name Eichel ever again.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DiehardRedWingsFan58</b></div><div>There's 0 chance of Byfield falling to #5, Say LA takes Tim Stutzle at #2 Ottawa takes Marco Rossi at #3 and then Detroit takes Quinton Byfield at #4 Buffalo declines that deal anyways. So it's a moot point.</div></div>
Well, if you read the description, you'd know he simply selected the wrong 1st rd pick. He's talking about Sabres using the #3 pick on Byfield, so he obviously meant the SJS pick.

If yotes get 1st overall
Yotes decline though. A trade like this weakens the team way too much. Lafreniere, a top 6 center prospect and a top pairing D with 50% retained for 7 more years is too much to give up for them, even for Matthews (and a very likely bust)

Tampa blockbuster
Tampa declines easily. They'd probably consider this for just Cirelli lol.
I know Tampa is in a very difficult position capwise but that doesn't mean they'll trade RFA's that easily. They still got all the power since they are in possession of their signing rights. Tampa will just try to trade a couple of their NTC's and as long as Serg, Cirelli and Cernak aren't signing an OS, Tampa got all the time they need. And if they sign an offersheet, Tampa just matches or takes the compensation (which has more value than 99% of the ACGM trades). It's that simple

Acceptable for Detroit
Might be fair but I doubt Detroit makes that trade. Defense isn't good to say the least and Yzerman surprised almost everybody by selecting Seider at 6. He probably likes him a lot. I don't think GM's often trade their very 1st pick at a franchise within a year

I bet it's going to be Raymond. Good two-way game, forecheck and wristshot. Capable of playing in any situation and he's righthanded (which Detroit massively needs)
