Obvious overpay. You should research the Habs prospects, they are better in real life rather than on EA sports.

Opening Night Roster a few more trades beforeduring the season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>A guy NSH was ecstatic to get at 11OA, who's value has increased since then for a protected 1st five years later, a defenseman they have no room for anytime soon (NSH already has three better options at LD with 3-5 years of term left), a not great backup goalie that - like Harris - would just be another one way contract stashed in MIL and eating up a bit of cap, and a 3rd? I'd call those lesser pieces.
A realistic trade for Askarov would be an equivalent center prospect. MTL's chance to acquire him evaporated at the draft. I honestly don't see NSH doing a one-for-one Askarov for Reinbacher trade.</div></div>
You can disagree with the value of players involved. But at least try and make sense in your irrational player evals in your condescending retort.
Do you work for Nashville? Then you don't know anything beyond what everyone else knows.
Good day.

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Martin Jones (1 Year / $875,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakenTheCode</b></div><div>The Kraken definitely got their money's worth out of Jones last year. There weren't high expectations with him but he played quite well over the first half of the season and was part of the reason why Seattle got off to as good of a start as they did. However, his gaudy win totals were a bit misleading, since a number of them had more to do with the Kraken's goalscoring in front of him rather than his play. Sure enough, Jones came crashing back down to earth down the stretch and Grubauer reclaimed the starter's net. With Gru, Daccord, and the returning Driedger, Seattle's pretty set in net for this year so there wasn't really room to bring Jones back. I am a bit surprised he signed with the Leafs; Jones is pretty clearly the third option there and I thought he'd latch on with a team where he'd have a much cleaner path to a backup role. However, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets claimed off waivers by a team who loses one of their goalies to injury during training camp and needs a replacement.</div></div>
Too much words.

No need for the Habs to take on Marchment. Dallas can make separate trades.

Montreal Canadiens signed Jesse Ylönen (1 Year / $775,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jr400</b></div><div>Hoffman’s gone so that moves him up one slot on the depth chart. I don’t think there’s any chance of Armia being claimed if he’s waived with his 2x$3.4M cap hit and even higher salary, so if waiving him avoids having to waive Ylonen, that’s definitely what I’d do.
However, CapFriendy’s Montreal depth chart shows Ylonen already in the minors. Doesn’t that mean they don’t have to waive him? Or does a guy have to clear waivers to stay in the minors if he’s already there when he loses his waivers exemption? I thought if he was already in the minors they could just keep him there without waiving him, until they have a permanent spot in the NHL for him. Of course then they’ll need to be confident that he’ll stick, because they won’t be able to send him back down again, but they’ve had a pretty good look at him in the NHL already, so that should help them judge when the time is right for him to come back up full time.</div></div>
Come training camp, every one way contract and waiver exempt guys have to go through waivers if cut to Laval, as Habs trim to 23 man roster.
There is very very little chance Armia gets claimed. But after the season begins, and if they call him up. He has to pass through re-entry waivers. At that time a team with injuries and cap space could claim him. Not guaranteed but a better possibility compared to training camp when most teams rosters are pretty set.

If Petry is wants to stay. I'd rather move Savard out. Petry even at 35 is more mobile and versatile. He'd be a perfect role model for Guhle Barron & Mailloux.

Great win now for the Pens.

Amazing asset management by Habs.
Valueless Hoffman & Pitlick Out. Useful, tradeable assets brought in. And a 2nd. for +900K.

Yep. Even more of a reason to add a Watson type. Love Pezz but he wont protect the kids like the fear of a heavy weight. And, Arber needs to play hockey when he's on the roster, not fight and sit in the box. Just my 2 cents!

You want Xhekaj dislocating his shoulder again? Pezz can't hang with the likes of Reaves or Lucic. He'll get injured too. Im not too concerned with Ylonen's production from the 4th line. He's there to be a contributor in the top 9 when there is an injury.

Elvis
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mglgoalie33</b></div><div>Monty is my 2nd favorite Habs goalie I've watched. I was rooting for him since he came from waivers, hell my Twitter name is Monty'sPython. However, replicating last season's success while probably playing more games might be more of a struggle than we think. In this scenario, Elvis is Monty's full time mentor 1B growing alongside him while teaching him the ropes if becoming a starter. But its a great point, Monty and Dobes are the two reasons I wouldn't do this trade.</div></div>
I hear you. imo, It's Monty's time to sink or swim. He is what he is right now. Either working with Price reveals the diamond in the rough or a piece of coal. Odds are he is what he's always been a decent backup. This season is his shot to tie it all together and carry the load. What you want of Elvis, is exactly what Allen is. Elvis is just a shinny, fresh more expensive version. Granted there is a slight chance he regains starter status. But with that price tag, I'd rather pay assets in a trade and gamble on Vejmelka with better odds and ceiling. Peace!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mglgoalie33</b></div><div>Sadly I don't think we're in a position to buy on a goalie. Why not capitalize on the cap space(once we figure out Hoff, Armia) and try to rebound a vet starting goalie? As I see it, changing the vet perspective right now could benefit both Monty and the younger guys. Elvis was a starter, while Allen was always a 1B. His contract would take us to Fowler coming in, and there's possibility to trade him at a higher price with retention.
As for Veggie, love the guy and he'd really fit the team(if he wants to stay) But I'm afraid of Arizona and other teams driving the price up on him. I could see trading for him, but in this scenario we give up virtually nothing for an underperforming goalie who thrived under good defense. If anyone can see or determine good defense from bad, it's Merzlikens.</div></div>
Would you not think that Monty could essentially have a better or as on par a season as Elvis for a fraction of the cost?

I agree. I would try and shop Hoffman at 50% but I would also send Armia to Laval. Same reasoning. And, if we are lucky Armia gets claimed. No way I expose Ylonen to waivers, and there are some good PTO options to fight Andersson for the last spot.
