His penalty killing and versatility keep him in lineup. His shot keeps him in mix for top-6. I hope NJD hangs onto him for another year….especially if Haula doesn’t return. He is such a humble, likable player, it would be a bummer to see him moved.

Oh ya... most of us are happier when CDN teams are doing well (except the Laffs who we laugh when they finish 2nd last - so they miss out on the 1st overall pick).
Chevy is the man with no plan, no vision, no concept of what is needed to do in WPG.
The team needs to do what Ottawa did and MTL to an extent. Trade off everything worth value that's over 25 and rebuild through prospects and picks over 3 years and build a young fun team up together.

Well, someone has to, because the WPG GM "Chevytakestoomanydaysoff" is useless and most of us believe is off fishing still.

Yeah that's fair, I mean I haven't went back and rewatched Leonard since the U18s, but I feel like popular consensus on him was where I'm at until after the season, so I certainly could be missing smth.

He'll be a fine 2nd line player, I just don't see super high upside. With Simashev's skating he easily has the highest ceiling in the group, Dvo is remarkably talented too, just a bit inconsistent, and imo Perreault also has a higher upside and is a bit riskier but was certainly not just tagging along on that line, he can drive play himself. (And Reinbacher is Reinbacher, I'm lower on him too, imo ASP is the number 1 d man in the class, but he's still better than the rest of those guys)

Byfield is a big guy. It generally takes them a bit more time. He has the tools and he's just getting started. Paying him 900K is a lot more appealing than paying PLD 9M

No one knows. But I know you can't have 12 Jonathan Marchessaults in the playoffs, and Centers are more valuable than wingers

LA is a contender. Paying to get an established player would make sense. Paying to get a 1st round pick would not.

Beck is going nowhere. Kings can keep Durzi.
Rather buyout Armia and Hoffman at a cost of <strong>1.2M</strong> this year then give up the 37th overall pick that can be used on Hrabal or Gajan. There's no point moving that money when they have over 11M in cap space this season with only RHP to sign.

The mental gymnastics..
"Florida's first, which is pretty much a 2nd."
as opposed to a contender trading a 2024 late 1st in worse draft isnt pretty much a 2nd this season and later year drafts picks always have lesser value when pushed down the road.
It's arguing to argue with this guy. Never makes a legitimate point.

habs dont need to be making these trades, no need to try and contend next season
also Winnipeg could maximize returns by trading Dubois and hellebuyck separately, not sure they trade them in one package

Trades and stuff
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>Armia has a 33k buyout so Montreal isn’t paying more than a 6th to dump him</div></div>
Had that argument before. The buyout is so tiny.. There isnt much point to dump Armia unless its a fairly insignificant price tag in trade. Not sure why its so diffcult for so many to understand, its not like the Habs are the Canucks with no leverage as they have 11M+ in cap space with LTIR. Its the same for Yamamoto. Oilers wont pay anything for such a small buyout without salary bonuses and under 26. The only reason to move Armia is to make space for the kids, same as Hoffman. No reason for a floor team like Chicago not to take on bad money if little term and get assets. It should be race for them and Arizona. Armia is one of the better bad money deals with his pedigree and small buyout so worst case scenario it doesnt work out, its a simple solution unlike many other options.

Irrational is pretty much every response to every ACGM. Just a bunch of emotional reactions that often turn to ad hominem attacks especially when dealing with Habs/Leafs ACGMs whom have a whole bunch of haters as the biggest fan bases here so you got many posters that only troll these fan bases and never give an inch of empathy. It gets exhausting and why many good posters leave and the irrational stay. The only time anything constructive is said is when you have liked another person's posts and build a rapport. Post and ghost is the only real solution here when it comes to 95% of posters.

Crazy Draft Day
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buffbry9108</b></div><div>I guess you don't understand how the value chart that actual GMs use, top writers in the nhl have all said this is the deal 9 +17 for 5 + 31.
Wings pass on EK without significant retention</div></div>
I guess you don't know how actual GM's work, they don't really use pick value charts to determine the value of picks. Those were made by sports analysts to give a rough idea of the historical data to fans and media. GM's don't actually use them since every draft and every prospect are different. If they did use them you would see trades that balance picks (like 10th + 101 for 26th + 37th + 165) instead of just 10th for 26 and a 2nd (these are just random numbers I threw out there for an example) my point is if GM's used actual pick value charts they would squabble over every trade moving multiple picks on both sides until the teams were trading exact values

He wouldnt be the 3rd LD. He is a top4 D and is much better than Nurse that makes the absolute most brain dead decision every playoff run and cant stay clam back there. There is reason why the Oilers were much better once Ekholm took minutes off Nurse. Eddy has made multiple Cup finals playing heavy minutes and had a rough season mostly because of injuries and a terrible team. Nurse has none of those excuses.

Even the tiniest bit of research would indicate that Edmundson is a more trusted Dman than Kulak. When they shared the same team, Kulak was in and out of the lineup meanwhile Eddy played top pair with Petry. Recency bias and the ad nauseam analytics takes that ignore all context have made you lose all perspective.
