I'd be fine with that and put demelo on third pairing with samberg. I would hope a side deal is made to keep Stanley then, which likely means Apple is gone. If that happens, I guess a player like Ves can step up and Perreault can play fourth line.
That might actually turn out better.... lol

re-tooling winnipeg-joe
Echoing what people have said. Copp will likely get closer to 4m, Pionk will likely be close to JMo's contract, Stastny is still going to be worth 3m on the UFA market, Oleksiak should get at least 3 to 3.5m.
If Beaulieu remains with the team, he will come off LTIR and his cap hit will count against the teams cap, which will impact some of your signings.
A speculation on my part, I could see the jets giving somewhere between 1.5 and 1.8m to Stanely and lock him up for 4+ years. Assuming again he isn't taken by Seattle. Franchise loves their big physical d-men.

Jets Long Shot

I think he could be NHL ready, but I think giving him one last year in Saginaw would be a good idea. Either way I think he could be 2C by the 21-22 season.</div></div>
Usually I would agree, but how much more can he gain from playing in a league where he puts up 111 points in 60 something games? I think he is too good for there. Ideally I would love to get him on the farm team, but who knows what he could be like by January when the league starts again? Maybe a couple months of training with the Jets gets him ready?

That trade could be for future considerations for all I care. Someone in the league would take Niku and Perreault for minimal return.

Cheveldayoff breaks character
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>masterjuddi</b></div><div>What do you think of the jets trying to get Johansen out of Nashville?</div></div>
Assuming we can make his contract work, I think he would find great success in Winnipeg. I always thought he was a higher end 2C, kind of like a Braden Schenn. The biggest issue would be acquisition cost from a huge central division rival. I do not see them moving Johansen for anything short of an overpay.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>masterjuddi</b></div><div>agreed. lateral move IMO</div></div>
From my perspective, Buffalo gets a more defensively responsible dman that puts up points of the same age. They move down 2 spots in the draft.
Winnipeg takes a risk on Risto, hoping his size fits their system well and can rebound to show more defensive responsibility. Jets move up 2 spots in the draft to get one of their ideal center targets. Leapfrogging Minnesota will likely be necessary to land a center that they need.

Would buffalo do this
Perfetti or Lundell would/should be their desired players. Likely, Perfetti will go 8 and Lundell 9. That leaves the Jets with Sanderson as BPA or drafting for positional need. Moving up to 8 should get them one of their two desired centers.

I could not be more on board with this thought process. Good player, I just don't see the long term fit with the Jets with the way they want to build their team.

Obviously I'm being a little over the top here, but you catch my drift. Byram plus is something we can talk about, but there is zero chance Newhook is included.</div></div>
Yeah, I would feel the same way if I was a Colorado fan. Oddly enough, I would prefer to build a package around Newhook++ instead of Byram+. Jets have two really solid LD coming through the pipeline so LD isn't a priority despite Byram's potential.

Ideal Jets 2021
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>slapshot723</b></div><div>That's nice value but not what we're looking for. Pulock will be re-signed, so if he's moved it will be for two reasons:
1) We get a legit top-line forward back. If Pulock is a legit top-pairing defenseman, he should be able to return a top-line forward. So if Connor isn't coming back, I don't see a deal worth doing by trading Pulock.
2) Dobson is believed to be able to take on top-pairing minutes, which he is definitely not ready for now but should be in a couple of years after more full-time development.
I think the Jets should be one of the teams that goes after Nick Leddy, he'd be a great fit for your team. Something around a 3rd+ or Andrew Copp would be great.</div></div>
Disregarding the trades above, would something along the lines of the following work in your opinion?
Connor & Pionk for Pulock, Leddy and Bode Wilde?
Jets get a solid 1RD, a 2LD stop gap, and a RD prospect.
NYI get a top line LW, a good 1RD to replace Pulock until Dobson is ready, and shed Leddy's salary to focus on the young players they need to keep.

Roslovic (Good young NHL middle 6 player)
I may even be okay adding more. I do think that many teams would match or exceed this level of an offer. Gimme Barkov, Laine and Ehlers for the next decade. If the Jets win 1st overall pick this year, I would even restructure the deal around it for Barkov.

Jets need to draft an develop their next 1c who will play 2c until they take over. Sadly, the reality is that Winnipeg will never be able to attract high quality UFA centers due to it being Winnipeg. They could go through trade, but the assets they would have to give up would make it tough to stomach. Especially if the 2c doesn't end up fitting.

I dont think Pulock would have an issue signing for Winnipeg, but the dollar figure is a different ball game. I think Trouba's value got massively over-inflated playing pp1 time on a team with no problem putting the puck in the net. NYR is stuck with that whale of a contract. In a flat cap world, I don't see NYI paying Pulock much more than 7m at max. I see a 6.5m extension in their future.
Thank you to everyone for the constructive discussion!

I agree that Pulock is an absolute stud, and his cost to acquire would be high. NYI have approx 10mil in cap space, and have Pulock, Barzal and Toews as priorities to resign. Barzal alone should eat up between 8.5 to 9.5. NYI would need to move a lot of pieces and draft picks to regain enough cap to allow them to match an offer @ 7.2m.
By my guesstimation, NYI would need about 19m for those 3 players. Seems like an opportunity for an OS even if it gets matched.

Yeah, I totally agree that Tampa should not be trading him if he signs for that. But with the cap crunch coming down, who knows what will happen. As I mentioned above, Danault could be another good target for 2C.
