Greenway isn't available in any capacity. Our FO is extremely high on him.
Not sure what you mean by the pick is draft protected, since that would mean it's protected from the draft, meaning we can't use it...? I think you meant top 10 protected, and there's no chance in hell that we are giving up Zucker and Greenway for one of the worst contracts in the league, a worrying prospect, and a pick that can't be in the top 10.
I'd do that Toronto trade without the 2nd round pick. Spurgeon is an absolute gem.

Don't y'all have Mittelstadt for your future 2C?
I didn't give Buffalo any rentals here. Zucker is 27 with 4 years remaining after this year and Pateryn is 28 with 2 years remaining (so neither are that old). Zucker would be as close to a perfect Skinner replacement as you can get if Skinner decides to walk in free agency. If he doesn't, then you just added a great top 6 winger that plays with tons of speed and can score.

Fenton is reportedly very interested in Fiala and Tolvanen. It would take a ton to get them both, but I don't think acquiring one is completely out of the picture. How about one of these?
Zucker for Fiala 1 for 1
Granlund for Tolvanen + Fla 3rd

Minnie Defense will be compared to Nashville if they did this move and he would love to play for them and would probably sign for 5x5. Minnie’s not a bad team just most players having rough years and goalies are not holding there own</div></div>
We already have Seeler, Hunt, and Bitetto for 3rd pairing LD guys. Hunt can offer a lot of what Gardiner does at a fraction of the price. He's simply not a fit for MN. We also are reportedly not willing to move 1sts or 2nds, so that's pretty much a non-starter for the Leafs.
Again, we aren't going to be buyers. Our fanbase is sick of mediocrity and making trades like this only enhance that.

We aren't going to trade for Gardiner since a) we shouldn't be buyers and b) we don't really need an offensive LD since Suter can provide a lot of that. Also, I'd be pretty surprised if the Leafs moved him.

The report was: "At least as of this morning, Tolvanen is not available in exchange for a rental. "
So they might move him for a guy like Granlund, who has an additional year on his deal, and is not a traditional rental.

Building on Wabits Jackets Deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div>So Zucker gets traded and learns how to catch/receive passes, hit the friggin net, and learns how to properly do a wraparound? Nino was always more than a 1-trick pony, he just lost his will to live in MN. Zucker is out there playing the same game every night as he's played the last few seasons. At $2m/yr his flaws were overlooked because he was outproducing/playing his contract, at $5.5m his game gets looked at a lot closer especially when he's not producing.
He's making Pommer money and Pommer was dumped after a 47p and much better all around play. Zucker would need 17p in 21 games to even match Pommer's totals from his last year here.</div></div>
Zucker did all of that last year, he put up 33 goals for crying out loud. Will he do it again? Who knows. I will say this: stats are not everything but Zucker's advanced stats are very good this year and indicate he's largely been unlucky. He's shooting at 8.5%, which is well below his career average of 12%, his PDO is 97.5 which can indicate unluckiness, his CF% is 54.1% which is very good, and his FF% is 54.7%, also very good.
Just look at his heatmap, too.
<img class="for_img" src="https://hockeyviz.com/fixedImg/teamShotLocOffWi/1819/MIN/zuckeja92" alt="zuckeja92">
<img class="for_img" src="https://hockeyviz.com/fixedImg/teamShotLocOffWo/1819/MIN/zuckeja92" alt="zuckeja92">
In the offensive zone, we've generated a ton more offense with Zucker on the ice than without him. I'm not that opposed to moving him, but we'd be losing a ton of offense if we do trade him.
One of your main issues with him that you've brought up to me before is that you think he's horrendous in his own zone. Well, the stats indicate otherwise. He has 34 takeaways and 20 giveaways, which is very good.
This heatmap also shows how he hasn't been as bad in his own zone as you often like to hate on him for:
<img class="for_img" src="https://hockeyviz.com/fixedImg/teamShotLocDefWi/1819/MIN/zuckeja92/" alt="zuckeja92">
<img class="for_img" src="https://hockeyviz.com/fixedImg/teamShotLocDefWo/1819/MIN/zuckeja92" alt="zuckeja92">
He's no Koivu but this really isn't that bad for an offensive-oriented winger.
I'm going to stand by my original statement: if we move Zucker, he's going to start producing on another team.

Kunin and Greenway are better options to try and turn into centers than Donato.
Going from Bruins fans Donato doesn't have the d-zone awareness/ability, skating issues, and needs to add muscle; but he has a sweet shot and good o-zone awareness. Those things scream scoring winger that can cheat out of the d-zone, not a center that has to cover the entire 200'.

Next Year Vegas Buffalo and other teams
Honestly there's only two players I'd want us to potentially sign: Point and Erik Karlsson. The four 1st round picks would be worth it to offer sheet Point, especially if our pick is a top 10 pick this year (which we wouldn't have to give up since the signing period is after the draft). Having Point and one of Hughes, Cozens, Turcotte, Dach, or Zegras as your 1-2 punch would be incredible (at least on paper), especially with Kaprizov on their wing. Of course, Point would actually have to sign the offer sheet. I'm a little less keen on Karlsson since he would cost a lot of money, but he's an elite offensive talent on the blue line and he'd make Spurgeon expendable so we could move him for a very large return. A lot of people on here may not know how good Spurge is, but scouts definitely do since they actually watch Wild games. In Russo's mailbag today someone mentioned Nylander and Russo offered that Toronto would be interested in Spurgeon, I would be ecstatic if we could make a deal revolving around these two.
Nelson is kind of more of the same for us to me: a two-way guy that is a left shot center. William Karlsson had a magical season last year but I'm not sure he has it in him to do it again. He's a great 2C on a contender, but not a guy I'd want as a 1C for the long-term.

I don't see Donato and Greenway being together anytime soon, both are LWs in their 1st pro season. One of them would have to be playing center for it to work.
Staal did nothing to increase his value last night. His PP apple was because of Spurgeon didn't give up on a play that Staal whiffed on. His EN apple was because Donato not giving up on a play. If the Refs had eyes he would have cost the team Parise's goal.
Wild aren't getting a 1st for a guy that has 2p in the last 10 games, isn't willing to waive his NTC, and has been playing like Rask.
Zucker gets moved at the TDL, not Staal. The return for Staal will be too low for the GM/owner to throw in the towel for the season while in the middle of the Playoff picture.

Zucker is harder to move due to his term and the fact he's been incredibly underwhelming this year. We'd be selling extremely low on him. 2 points are 2 points. As long as we get a 1st or 2nd + prospect for Staal, I'd be happy. He's not a long-term solution for this team.
Donato is a natural center (he played center throughout college) and he was Greenway's center at the Olympics, so it would work.

I'd croak if we got that for Granny. They are good pieces but it would take a dynamic talent back if we were to move him (think guys like Tolvanen, Vesalainen, Glass, Necas, etc.). Ylonen and Fleury are solid prospects but they aren't in the same tier as the guys I mentioned.

Donato is not a NHL center anymore than Granny is. Wasn't Greenway the center in the Olympics?
2p is 2p, correct, just hope no GM/scout watches any tape of the points or any of the last 10 games. None of Staal's past exploits mean much when he's playing as badly as he has been. Whoever gets him is looking at using him for 20 games plus Playoffs; that's it. The last 10 games will weigh heavy on their value of him. Staal has less value than Coyle before he was traded.
Zucker will be a hockey trade, and his value is just going to keep dropping the longer they hold on to him. The 30g season last year will still carry a little weight the rest this year, but won't mean anything after that. He's a killer of puck possession.

I thought Donato was a center in the Olympics, but I could be wrong. How do we know that? We haven't seen Donato at center on our team yet. I wouldn't assume he can't play the role just because he slotted at LW in his first game.
I still think there's teams interested in Staal. We may not get a great return for him but I'd rather that than Fenton sitting on his hands and holding on to him only for us to not sign him in free agency.
You are right with Zucker, it will be a hockey trade. But who out there would we trade him for? I know you really like Henrique, but I do not want anything to do with the guy. He's older, slower, and another left-shot center which only exacerbates our current issue of having too many left-shots, too many vets, and too many slow guys. If we move Zucker I hope it's a Coyle-esque trade where we get a very young NHL player as the centerpiece. That's a tough trade to make right now since most teams are just looking for rentals.

Yep agreed. If we don't land Hughes, I want Cozens. I would be drooling over Hughes if he were a right shot, but I'm not going to complain one bit if we win the lottery and draft him. I wouldn't hate Kakko either. I'm a little weary of Podkolzin, his upside is incredibly high but I've read that he can have bad decision making and he tries to force plays that hurt more than they help. Things like that can burn you in the NHL. It's sort of his biggest strength and biggest weakness: when it works, it looks like an act of brilliance, but when it doesn't, it looks like an act of stupidity.
