Yeah, Ehlers would likely get a 1st and decent prospect or 2nd and good prospect. It won't just be a struggling defenseman prospect that will need to pass waivers and a meh bottom 6 prospect along with a nothing pick.

Easy no for Winnipeg. Ehlers would get more as a pure rental than a couple meh prospects.

Positive offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffGorton</b></div><div>Hes been a 50 point player for 2 years now and would actually get 1st pp time. Jets dont have that great of a forward group. Ehlers, Connor, Scheifeile, Morrissey, Matheson. Jets only have a 19% pp. Its average and not much better than the Habs, with much better forwards. Matheson easily slots in. Also the Jets do not need a RHD. Pionk and Demelo are fine RHD. Roy is in FA. Jets need goals and offense. Matheson gives them that</div></div>
Sorry, peddle him elsewhere he's only been close to 50 points once, no matter how you try to twist the numbers. He does nothing for Winnipeg and it's unrealistic to think the Jets are going to replace Morrissey on PP1 with an inferior player.
If he was good defensively and an RHD, the Jets might move a first for him, as it stands the Jets can find a better use for those assets than a one way, unneeded LHD to play behind Morrissey.

Positive offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffGorton</b></div><div>4.875m is now too much for a 2nd pair LHD that gets 50 points? If the Jets need a RHD DFD, resign Demelo, instead of resigning Dillon</div></div>
This is the only year in Matheson's career that he's been near 50 points, so it isn't a regular occurrence for him. He also not going to get PP1 and top pairing time in Winnipeg like he does in Montreal, so he'll most likely revert to the ~25 to 30 point, one way player he's always been.
It's just not worth moving a 1st for a player like that. If the Jets spend that pick, it needs to be for something that actually fills a need like a stay at home RHD as opposed to more unneeded depth on the left side.

But he's not great defensively and is paid too much to play on the 2nd pair behind Morrissey.
If he was an RHD and good defensively he would fill a need. As it is, he doesn't add anything the Jets need.

Next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cory</b></div><div>Seriously? Is every trade offer always the same response from you??? Maccelli is just as good as Ehlers if not better and Durzi is a big upgrade on Schmidt or Stanley. Lucius is a health hazard. You seriously cannot have the same response to every trade proposed on here.</div></div>
Sure you can. The trade proposals here are from fans, so 99.9% of them are outright silly, like this one. The Jets downgrade at wing and get a bottom pairing defenseman they don't need and pay a hefty premium to do it. It's just silly. When you come up with a trade try to reason to yourself why the teams would make the deal. Here there's no reason at all for Winnipeg to entertain it as they aren't getting anything that fills even a minor need. It's a bad trade for the sake of making a trade.
There are a few good trades here, every once in a while thete is a realistic deal that is worth discussing but they are rare.

caps revamp
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>zdcaps</b></div><div>That's fair...price is definitely on the cheaper side. They've got him playing 10 mins a game, so I could see him being movable. I'm more than fine giving up another or a better prospect if that's what it comes to.</div></div>
Earlier in the year he was a fixture in the top 6. Now after a wrist injury they're playing him less because the have the depth to do so. Extremely unlikely that the Jets have given up on him and are ready to deal him for futures.
Now if you have a young top 4 RHD that you want to move, maybe a deal could be worked out.

Exactly. Everyone said Montreal wouldn't get a top prospect + a first like you and many other Montreal fans demanded. And did you? Of course not. You won't get a top prospect in this deal either.
So what is the Montreal news reporting now? How many offers of 1sts + top prospects for Anderson did Hughes turn down this TDL?
