Maybe we ride with this team into the playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wpgman</b></div><div>It will suck losing players to waivers but I think players understand this. What will suck more is who will be sent to the 4th line when Connor returns and a 2C get inserted on the 2nd line. Names will be one but who is the other? Iafallo? I don't know what it will do to the chemistry they have right now? I agree with you if the team starts sliding but if they stay healthy, I wouldn't rock the boat.</div></div>
With Scheif, Helle, and Nino extending, there may have been talks about how to approach the contending window which likely includes taking the swings many contenders do, by sacrificing futures to add depth for a deep playoff run. The team is full of guys who like to play for each other, and are friends off the ice, but this is the time to act, and there is a hole at the 2C.
The addition can't just be anyone. They'd have yo fit into the culture the team has created, but they can't just sit back, especially if contending teams in the WC like Dallas, Vancouver, Vegas, and Colorado add to their lineups for their own playoff pushes

Winnipeg Jets Thoughts and Feedback
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Camper27</b></div><div>Agree with many of your comments. #88 is a great team guy, but the salary is an issue...
2C change is needed... I like your suggestion, but wonder about Monahan, would he be that fit as you mention above?
As far as Heinola, he should be used as a trade asset. He won't last in the playoffs and the heavy going. We haven't seen enough from him in the NHL and I don't buy the elite status by some & the media types here in Wpg. There is this comparsion to Makar by some, who in my opinion, is spenting far to much time on IR the past 2 years since their Stanley Cup run.</div></div>
Who in the **** compared Heinola to Makar?!! 🤣
While I think Heinola has good upside, comparing him to a generational dman is laughable.

This team is one of the best teams in the league. They have not lost a step with key injuries, and the call ups have been great, but they have to go all in, and sacrifice the 1st and a prospect to get a 2C.
In the short term, maybe see if a team will take Kupari and Stanley for draft picks, so some guys who deserve to be up stay, but you'd have to expect one of AJF, Gustafsson Toninato will be lost on waivers. It sucks, but those are the roster limits they face.

I say do nothing but add depth. How many teams in recent years do better when they mess with team chemistry and add a big name. Rangers would be the perfect example last year.

Player like Pulock is what the Jets need
Pulock has trade protection and may not waive it despite being a Manitoba guy. It was known that if the Jets acquired Mark Stone at that TDL a while back he was going to be a pure rental and the Jets had no chance of signing him despite being a Winnipeg guy. The last guy from Dauphin the Jets tried to bring on board rejected them and went to Nashville.
Edit: I think he'd be great on the Jets, but I am not overly optimistic the Jets would meet the Isles ask and Pulock would waive.

Really feel like their defense needs some kind of upgrade, just doesn't look a D core thats gonna go very far in the playoffs and just a 3rd pair upgrade wouldn't make enough of a difference.

Pulock is exactly what we need… I say as long as it doesn't affect our core, the price is worth the reward.

id love a pulock trade (manitoba boy, too) but i think hed be expensive enough the jets would have to pay too much, unless the isles were tearing it down and we could py entirely in picks+prospects. the jets are rolling right now and i wouldnt want to take a roster player away. itll be an interesting TDL

Wait, Wait, Wait a damn minute. When Dubois was on the market and "guaranteed" going to Montreal. All Habs fans made Dvorak a main piece of the trade proposal and talked about how good he is. Now he can be had for a 3rd? Damn how things have changed. Make up your minds people. Is he good or not?

would this work for each team
Not saying that any team involved would 100% do this but on the whole I think the 3 way looks reasonable.
Value going to the Jets seem like one step above the Kuemper package Yotes got from the Avs, which is the strongest comparable to a Hellebuyck trade that I can think of.
I'd want the Devils to pursue Hellebuyck purely as a rental if this is the package required to bring him in.

He is. He may not be a great 1RD, but he can play the minutes.
Great 1RDs don't come as UFAs for that cheap.

I think NJ will pass on him. They’d probably rather see what they have in the system or maybe trade for another goalie that won’t cost as much.

I could see Scheifele staying for sure. If Hellebuyck isn't traded before opening night, he'll for sure get traded before the deadline. He did say he's not re-signing there.

Jets blockbuster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tsyls</b></div><div>I’ve heard some absolutely terrible things about wheeler as well from sources who I deem as very knowledgeable and close to the situation. Not just about how he treats his teammates but also other people who work within the organization. I’ve also heard a ton of really good things about wheeler and what he does for the community in Winnipeg so can see why there are people who support him.
Culture has been a major issue in this team for years. Little and Byfuglien were the only reason why this team was held together. Losing them crippled the ability to keep the dressing room together. Again these are things I’ve heard from what I deem to be credible sources. Not to mention that Kevin hayes literally came out and said it’s one of the worst locker rooms he has ever been in or heard of….
So tired of the “oh well people have trade protection so we can’t blame Chevy” BS excuse. There are tons of players who are moved without trade protection. Chevy is just too timid as a GM. The guy never does anything unless he is absolutely forced to do it. I mean Chris Johnston came out and said that he believes the organization doesn’t even know what direction they will go in… Chevy has been incredibly reactive as a GM and it’s gotten to the point where the players hold all the leverage and dictate the direction of the team. Just an absolutely pathetic organization. It starts from their owner who can’t keep his hands out of the day to day operations of the team. Not to mention the absolutely idiotic “premium season ticket member lounge” they just announced. Talk about being absolutely tone deaf. People already don’t want to spend money to see the product, now you’re asking for more $ from your season ticket holders to access a lounge where they have to pay even more for food and drinks….
I could go on and on about how this organization is a dumpster fire but honestly I’m at the point where I just don’t give a F as a fan until they start doing something to change their on ice product. Genuinely will not watch a single game next year if they keep things the same. I know a lot of people who opted out of their season tickets for next year and think that trend will continue.</div></div>
Honestly, if any of these sources are true. Then the whole team needs to be gone. From the bottom, every player and office staff because they all 100% support him and that means they are all part of the problem.
Let me be clear though. I have no problem with them trading any player on the team. As long as they get back an acceptable amount back. Not trade them because fans are whining and threatening not to by tickets. I am a season ticket holder. In the new Bud zone, and I will continue to by tickets whether they are first or last because I am a fan, not a fair weather fan. I will not bail on this team under any circumstances and then pretend to be their biggest fan if one day they make a big run. I was also a season ticket holder for the Bombers since I was 10 years old. I went 29 years without a championship and never once complained when they were absolutely dreadful.

He’s the captain. He is a large part of the problem. Scheif plays a part too, but when you’re the captain, it’s your room to control and he let the culture get to the place it’s at. Maurice is also to blame as well.

Would mtl do this
One thing I think WPG fans don't press on enough is the pressure PLD & Brisson "Should" feel to sign a long term deal this offseason.
The <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/browse/active/2024/caphit/all/all/ufa?expiry-year=2024&stats-season=2023">2024 UFA Class</a> is Elite at center and PLD would generously be 4th on the list of centers to target (much lower if you don't factor in age, cause Stamkos & Kopitar are who they are!). This year he is hands down the best center available, albeit by trade.
Now PLD may be willing to sacrifice millions to go only to MTL, I dunno - I'm not in his head. But I DO believe he can sign an 8 x 8.5 with almost any team this year and next year he will have to wait until they figure out if they are getting Matthews, Aho, and others... That includes MTL BTW because I promise you MTL is taking Aho over PLD every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
I think if I was Howie or Windjammer, I would bring this up every time I shoot down a MTL is getting him for free proposal. If he's smart, he WILL sign for 8 years this offseason. I am convinced he gets signed to a long term deal this year one way or another. If Montreal wants him, they HAVE to make a deal. Do they want him though?

Essentially EVERY player that MTL wants to get rid of, is a cap dump... At least in CHI's eyes they are. Dvorak, Anderson, Hoffman, Gallagher, Armia, Edmundson... All of them SHOULD and likely WILL cost MTL to move, or they will just have to let them play out their contracts. If WPG wants to give positive value for them, that is their prerogative. But, you aren't going to recoup on the back end from CHI.
