I have been spouting that same rhetoric since before the interim tag was removed from Kyle Davidson, before anyone else was even saying it. I am well aware of CHI's situation and what they need to do. Grzelcyk and Fabbri simply aren't targets... or at least they shouldn't be. I just thought it was worth pointing out that $4.5M is a ridiculous overpay for Grz, even for CHI.

I like the Isles trade for the Hawks as well as the Colin Miller and O'Brien UFA signings. To bring in Fabbri and have AA on the 4th line is a ridiculous move. No need for Fabbri in Chicago. The Gryz signing makes no sense either. Vlasic and Korchinski are locked in on the left side. Signing Gryz just blocks the path for Kaiser, Phillips and DelMastro to get NHL ice time next season on the left side. Hawks definitely aren't doing that either. As for the cap floor argument, this roster as constructed is like $10m over the projected cap floor. So removing the pointless additions of Gryz and Fabbri has no negative impact on that either.

This would be kind of a backup plan if Ottawa can't sign any good UFAs.

That definitely makes a big difference for sure =) That would be a solid move I stand corrected. Wasn't aware Nashville retained 50% already as I said that would be a big difference for sure appologies =)

Quoting: Riddick19

Dude.... If you think Ottawa is taking $6M of cap hit off your hands for a player that has less than 30 points? Never going to happen. If Staios does give that a shot? It will only be because they deem Norris out for the entire season. If they did deem him out for the season, Philly is retaining $2M and throwing in a top prospect or 1st round pick. If you will recall the price Briere wanted for taking Joseph and his rwmaining contract on? They wanted a 1st rounder or Tyler Boucher who was a 1st rounder.... Joseph's cap hit is $3.25M... So come on lets be realistic here.... If Ottawa is taking on Johansson at $6M a season.... It's going to cost Philly an absolute fortune.

Johansson's cap hit would be only 2M. The preds are retaining 50% of it already.

Canucks easily decline. They were targeting Zadorov for over a year before they finally got him, they aren't gonna give him away for free now. They're also a top team in the league and they aren't selling.

That is because Jarvis is a much more complete player than Necas and the organization values defensive ability and completness. Like Jarvis plays on PP1 and PK1. Jarvis has also become part of the core during his ELC

I'd add way more to the Zegras deal, so Anaheim passes. Johnson and Zegras are redundant, and it doesn't make sense to trade Johnson (too early to tell), so it doesn't make sense to trade for Zegras.
I'd want more for Elvis, too. Roslovic 50% retained is probably a 2nd, so it's basically Elvis for Vanecek and someone who probably tops out as an AHL RD? Considering Elvis has been fine, better to just hold onto him. Maybe someone looks to add him at ~$1M retained in the offseason.
That makes the Campbell deal a non-starter, though. If Edmonton is waiting until the offseason, they'll just buy out Campbell since it's really not that bad. The only reason to pay to move him is if they decide they have to go for it all this year. Especially if the price to move him is a 1st+.
Peeke goes for less, Bean looks about right, and Tex I'd rather just keep. I like him as a skilled 4th-liner who can play up if there's an injury (kind of like Danforth). I doubt someone pays a 2nd for him right now anyway.
Love the Toffoli signing, pass on Seeler (doesn't fit the timeline, and Philly is going to re-sign him for more), and absolutely yes on Stolarz...but that's not happening if Elvis is still here. Tarasov needs to go IMO.

I, also, think this is a good deal for both. We'd happily retain on Roslovic, and ~$1M retention on Elvis is probably as high as Columbus goes. Vitek coming back makes sense, and the 2nd to balance with another prospect feels fair, worth it, and also not like you're selling the farm for NJ. Nicely done!

This seems actually pretty fair. Nice job. Elvis is a risk, but at least this would be less costly than what else is out there. Not many UFA options that would be any safer.
