Again. Feel free to share the stats or analytics that say two Leafs 7th D men are better players. Timmins is horrible and back on IR indefinitely

There is analytically a serious argument he is much worse than Lili.
He's also pretty much all offense and no defense.
In so many ways a horrible pickup you just gave away our entire future for.</div></div>
Feel like sharing those analytics or just throwing stuff out there. Would love to see your comparison and how you factor a 7th dmans minutes to a top pairing guy

what should actually happen at the dealine
What's the benefit to the Flames in that deal? They get a UFA D man in exchange for a better, younger UFA D man? The 1st is what it is but they can get that literally anywhere in a Hanifin deal and it's not enough to take on Brodie's money just for the sake of helping Toronto.

Flames are very clearly trying to get younger and get higher end talent in the pipeline. Jarnkrok with multiple years left is a zero in terms of fit and Timmins is on IR indefinitely.... again. When he's been in the lineup he's been replacement level at best. There's no fit whatsoever with this deal.

That's reasonable. I like the Saros/Rinne split in terms of workload when he was coming into the league.,

Leafs And Flames Pull Off Another 10 Player Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>The multiple 1sts and picks don't hold any value for you?</div></div>
Why would they not just separate the pieces in the deal and acquire 1st round picks from multiple teams instead of getting a pick now, getting a pick two years out from a team that is smack in a cup window. All while using all their retention spots and eating 4.9 million to have two players not play in Calgary for a couple years. Bertuzzi walks, Jarnkrok is 32 and doesn't fit a team getting younger, Samsonov doesn't open a sport for Wolf and Timmins is terrible and out indefinitely again.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Yeah I just don't see much value to getting Markstrom's contract off the books, it's not like we are going to anywhere near the cap ceiling next year. VV having 1 less year of term also doesn't help us open a spot for Wolf any sooner than it does having Markstrom here. Either way we need to ship out Vladar. Clarke isn't a particularly good prospect either, comparable to Schwindt, but a least he plays center. Lastly Markstrom would make them a contender and probably put their 1st in the 20-28 range at the least</div></div>
I think in terms of the spot for Wolf, it's much easier to split the crease with anyone other than Markstrom. Pretty tough to tell a guy having a career year that he's going to ride the pine in lieu of a 22 year old rookie. I am all over needing to ship out Vladar but I don't think you get the value back that you paid to get him, teams find that hard to swallow sometimes.

Prospect would certainly need to be better if they were to retain but getting full pop off the books, bringing in a goalie to work in the rotation for less term and getting pick that could be between 15 and 20 is not a terrible scenario. As I mentioned, I agree that the Flames have no real reason to make the deal without being blown away by the return.

You have to be able to see that Minten is the only piece in that deal that would be really interesting to Calgary right?

I would do it. I think Clarke and Stillman are relatively interchangeable in a deal just depends on what the Flames value more. I would like to find a way to get Bahl in as the Flames are dismantling their D core it seems. It will always boil down to if Conroy is getting exactly what he expects, the Flames have no reason to make the move without getting exactly what they target, if they don't then they just hold onto Markstrom and let him keep them in the hunt and mentor Wolf whether that's right or wrong.

Bread man too unless he thinks he is going to get a salary bump. Both guys seem like good extendable guys between $4.5-5M with term. I do think Kuz would probably be moved again.</div></div>
I personally think they move on from Mangiapane, he is more of the same when it comes to what they have in the pipeline, middle 6 high floor, low ceiling guys. If they can move him for a piece that has similar upside at a lower cap hit I think that's the route they go. Especially when you look at Calgary's recent record of signing expiring UFA's, I don't have a lot of hope that he returns. Sharangovich I would love to bring back as he's proving how vesatile he is this season and his age fits a window for the team directions.

Pretty well thought out pieces, I don't know if Dallas moves off of Lundkvist after paying a premium price for him so recently, wouldn't hate it but I don't think Dallas does it. I really like Bahl as a piece coming back in any NJ deal I think he fits exactly what Conroy is trying to do, I do think they target a forward prospect as opposed to Casey though whether that's Stillman or Clarke, especially if the Dallas deal was to have a D man coming back as you have here. I think this deadline they may target a few more raw prospects and picks as opposed to next deadline when they can flip Kuzmenko, Mangiapane, Sharangovich, for some more roster ready guys.

Think Lindholm package but with term on the deal at a solid cap hit for multiple years, also a guy the Flames probably have no desire to trade unless they're enamored with a deal.

Holtz for Markstrom Retained
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devsfan25</b></div><div>I think CGY is already past that point in terms of their thinking. James Nichols already reported that they approached Markstrom about waiving his NTC and he approved. If there wasn't a retention issue, this deal would be done already. CGY seems to be comfortable parting with Markstrom and running with Wolf/Vanecek/Vladar for the next few years. Where are you guys really going these next few years? Let's be honest</div></div>
Nichols put that out pre trade breakdown, you could see people in the Devils fan base all ridicule that Nichols is a hack and will throw anything out there. Serivalli did the same thing but he also said a couple weeks ago that a source really close to Dube said that his leave was not because of the 2018 World Junior team. The reporters that try get ahead of the story are always trying to be the first to scoop something and they're often wrong. LeBrun was on Insider Trading yesterday and confirmed that Calgary has not approached Markstrom to waive his NMC. Calgary shouldn't be comfortable running Vladar and Wolf out there, they have similar numbers, Vladar should be gone already but he's strapped with a terrible contract, Wolf has proven nothing in the NHL and the Flames don't have the roster to bottom out. Doesn't matter where they are going in the next couple years, they can't create a losing culture or you end up with decade long rebuilds like Edmonton, Ottawa and Buffalo.

No one is saying it's not a fair offer, it is, there's just not incentive for Calgary to do it. They have a blue chip prospect in net and a goalie to shelter the hell out of him if they so choose. Wolf has proven nothing at the NHL level yet and until he does the Flames should not throw him into the fire with Vladar. Unless the pros seriously outweigh the cons Calgary has no reason to make the deal.

Markstrom
The Flames have zero incentive to move Markstrom. In a vacuum the deal probably is a little under value but not bad. Given the circumstance that there's no need to move him and this would be the Davils approaching the Flames the deal isn't close. Calgary won't move Markstrom unless someone is willing to blow them away with an offer, this isn't that.

Let’s try it and find out. Huska’s said he’s starting with Sharangovich, but that Zary & Pospisil want and probably get a shot at some point too
Regardless, I’d be looking to Trade for a True Centre and might even consider Trading Sharangovich or Coronato to do it too. I did read up on Frost and it does sound like he’s responded well to Tort’s request to clean up his Defensive game, so if there aren’t any better or reasonably affordable alternatives, fine, give him a try</div></div>
Until they are a mile out of it then they should continue to roll what is working. I'm fully in the camp that they should move Mangiapane because he holds a really key spot in the line up that I think Pelletier or Coronato should be in to play with Backlund and Coleman.
Huberdeau - Sharangovich - Kuzmenko
Zary - Kadri - Pospisil
Pelletier - Backlund - Coleman
Rooney - Schwindt - Duehr
Don't know who is taking on MAngiapane is Calgary isn't retaining.
