Since Winnipeg passes on Montreal PLD trade offers
I've said it many times here before and what Jets fans don't seem to understand is that PLD and Hughes are in complete control on this.
1. If the Jets look to make a deal with ANY other club, that club is going to ask to speak to PLD before any deal is finalized given the rumors of him wanting to come to the Habs. No team is going to give up what the Jets will be looking for if they'll only be getting PLD for one year and then lose him for nothing in return as a UFA.
2. Given the point above, and the fact that Hughes knows that the Jets are desperate to at least get something/anything for PLD....he can play the waiting game and then low ball the offer. The longer the Jets hold off....the offer starts to become lower and lower.
If/when Hughes pulls off this trade it will be considered the steal of the century

Edmundson and Klingberg to the Oilers this week
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wreckless</b></div><div>Fair enough. Edmundson and which forward?</div></div>
Personally I think Edmonton is pretty set as far as forwards, once everyone's healthy. Kane fills out the top 6, Foegele stabilizes the 3rd line, and they can ride the top 9 in the playoffs, with the 4th line just being a breather line. If anything, I could see them adding a guy like a Nick Bonino or Marcus Johansson for a mid round pick - cheap depth guys with good playoff experience that bolster the bottom 6 and can move up the lineup in case of an injury or fatigue.

Joel Edmundson for the 2024 28th to 32nd overall pick
I actually think this is a reasonable price. I don't think Pulj has much value maybe a third round pick. Maybe get rid of Edmonton's 5th but either way not a deal breaker. I would take this if I was Edmonton

Hornqvist for Dadonov - what say ye panthers fans
Like others said this would depend on their cap space. I thought Duclair was out for the season but I'm probably wrong? I do think that this idea is actually interesting. Dadonov has been good in FLA before with a lot of the same core still around, and while Hornqvist brings intangibles and some grit, he's not the main source of it like he was that first season in FLA. Definitely depends on the cap situation, but not an awful idea imo. Kudos for an interesting trade idea.

I agree I would keep him but the sharks, but they have already come out saying he is available for a 2nd. and Hill i would assume is available as well for 4th.

To Mtl
Monahan is pure cap dump. He looks finished. It will take a 1st to move his salary, no need to dump Evans. The problem for Mtl is if Price and Monahan play at some point this year, they wont have cap space to fit either in their lineup even with Byron's hip issues that may end his career. The Habs would need to dump more salary.
Monahan would have to be traded with retention and I dont think Calgary wants to dump a 1st.
Lucic going to a bottom feeder for a pick with his low salary but high cap hit makes more sense for the Flames
edit: I see Engels reporting this is in the works. Interesting.

Evans is a very good 4th line centerman and he doesn’t cost too much and provides Calgary with a Cman they need.</div></div>
Which is why Montreal keeps him. Montreal could care less about Calgary's 4C. Give Phillips a chance. Feel fortunate it only cost a very late 1st.

Ok, was wondering..
Yeah my thoughts were around that Calgary need another centerman, Hugues got Dach so I don’t see him flipping him now hence Evans.

Tarasenko is the cap part of the moves for the Blues, not the quality long term piece. That's either Kyrou, NEighbours, Paryako, Bolduc.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blues4TheCup</b></div><div>most I would do is Tarasenko, Neighbours and a 1st. otherwise I would wait until he is a free agent</div></div>
From what I've read, CGY isn't going to let this situation get to arbitration. Either a trade or a longterm extension; letting him get to a 1yr deal could be a fireable offense. If Tkachuk's camp makes it clear that there are only a few (or one) team that he will sign long term with, that cuts into their leverage but it still should yield them a better return than they'd get if they try to move him on a 1yr deal.
If it comes out that he only will sign long-term in STL, I could see the pkg you have - Tarasenko (could go to a 3rd team), Neighbours, 1st. Otherwise with competition I think the Blues would be offering a little more. Probably not as extreme as some of these armchairs I've seen lately, holy smokes.

The 32nd team in the NHL came back from 3-1 to knock you guys out. Your goalie is Matt Murray. Win a round and then chirp - we're still high from a Stanley Cup appearance.

Lehner did it a few years ago in CHI, as did Janmark. Hall did in Buffalo. It's rare, but it happens. It's just an ACGM for fun.

The Manson signing already confirmed Kadri wouldnt return, if they filled the last D spot with a cheap veteran then maybe Kadri could have stayed if he took a discount

He's really underrated with all the Habs prospects coming into the equation. He finished the year very strong under MSL. Ice time way up and the bonehead plays were kept to a minumum. Petry and the whole team being absolutely horrendous did him a disservice to start the year. Guhle-Romanov look like legit top 2 pairs on the left side for 10-15 years.

Yes, I can see that. The current framework of the deal you have wouldn't work for either team I believe. But depending on what the actual deal turned out to be, I could see it happening.
