Lot of guys you can say that about which is exciting to think about. Zegras, Terry, Caufield, Boldy, Boeser, Schmaltz, etc.
So much better than the days of Abdelkader

I just figured they would want to see him back in actual action before saying he's 100% ready to go for the Olympics. Realistically the NHL breaks for the Olympics 13 weeks from now. I also feel like Vegas might try to talk him out of it given the entire situation.

I'm iffy on Eichel being healthy in time. He'll need to be back and playing full contact ice hockey in 10 weeks time. If it happens to be he does come back healthy than 100% you bring him as the 2C.

Then consider Drury foolish. His list of young, untouchable players apparently includes Lundkvist, Schneider, Miller, Kakko and Lafreniere. And he's hesitant to include Chytil.

If Vegas really does want Eichel or some other $10,000,000 #1C they're going to have to trade Pacioretty and Smith. No way they can afford it otherwise.

For whatever reason offersheets only takes into consideration up to 5 years. So they divide the total contract amount by 5 years instead of the 7 years of the actual contract.

If for some god awful reason this happened, they'd definitely put Kreider back in the Top 6 and either he or Lafreniere would switch to RW. Hell they might do that this year regardless.

Chytil is 21 years old, so there's still plenty of room for improvement on things like faceoffs. And Chytil is not an absolute disaster on defense. No stats, whether they be basic or advanced, point to Chytil being a disaster on defense. At worst he's slightly below average. My god what a terrible take that is.

I mean I thought Goodrow would get 3-4 years around $2.75mil-$3mil AAV and I was clearly wrong on that. I could see McCabe getting some term and a higher AAV from a team in need of a solid defenseman.

God no. Chytil has better P/60 than Dvorak. Give Chytil the minutes Dvorak gets and Chytil would probably be putting up the same, if not better numbers. It's stupid to include a guy that is four years younger, who will also be cheaper for the next 2-4 years. If you have to include Chytil to get Dvorak, you don't do it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ragsandbluesfan</b></div><div>We don't, but getting a legit top 6 C to play along Mika in the top 6 will either cost or block Chytil</div></div>
A legit Top 6 center like Chytil, who scores at a better rate per 60 minutes than Dvorak despite the fact that Dvorak played on Arizona's top power play unit this year while Chytil didn't play on the Rangers powerplay at all? Instead of signing a guy who is 4 years older because he looks like he might be better than Chytil, why don't we just give Chytil a few more minutes a game, give him better line mates, and put him on the powerplay? Make it so he's about even with Dvorak in those stats. Guarantee Chytil will show not only can he produce like a 2C, but he will have better point production than Dvorak.
Or instead of getting rid of the only cost controlled center we have, why don't we keep Chytil, trade Strome and then trade for Dvorak so we have two cost controlled centers instead of one?

Chytil for an upgrade
Chytil is 4 years younger, and will be cheaper for at least the next two to three years. In what way is Dvorak an upgrade outside of faceoffs? And please don't say "he has more point,!" because these past two years Chytil was 36th out of all centers who played at least 40 games in P/60 with 1.92. Dvorak is 90th at 1.57. If the two had comparable minutes, Chytil would have more points. I want Dvorak too but not because I want to downgrade from Chytil to Dvorak, but because I don't think the Rangers can afford Strome's next contract so figure it's better to trade Strome now and get our 3C for the next few years.

Personally I'd sign Buch, trade Strome, get another center with term, and then let Zibanejad walk next year. If you ever look at Zibanejad's numbers away from Buchnevich, they're not 1C numbers and I'd prefer not to pay him that 1C money.

Yeah I'm not thrilled with the contracts, but I think those are where they both belong, at least based on my AGM. In reality the Rangers will most likely trade Buch, play Goodrow on the 3rd line, and put Kreider back in the Top 6.

Alright, so what if the picks were swapped? Vegas gets the 2nd, and Seattle gets the 4th for retaining salary?

Sorry Avs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jimbo1119</b></div><div>Chris Kreider I believe is also good on face offs- but he is by no means a C...Lots of people seem to place a lot of emphasis on faceoff %....I'm not saying it's totally irrelevant- for instance Chytl does have to get better if he has any ambitions to be a 2C in this league- but other things are so much more important...vision, reads, and anticipation on the ice, and defensive assignments- just to name a few. All in all I think the Landeskog move is a bad idea- lot of money and term to a guy with mileage on him. Deals like this will create a narrow contention window and most likely a buyout situation a few years from now...NO THANKS. Much better use of their capspace for this year is to weaponize it...lots of teams will be looking to clear out 4-6M in cap space this year- and I doubt Seattle helps any of them out...if the Rangers play their cards right here they may obtain a useful 3rd or 4th liner (which they need for the short term anyway) and in the process gain additional picks in the loaded 2022 draft.</div></div>
The most faceoffs Kreider has ever taken in a season is 120. In the past four years the least amount of faceoffs Landeskog has taken was 418, with the most being 693. This year Landeskog was 2nd on the Avs in faceoffs taken. It's not so much his faceoff percentage as it is the sheer amount of faceoffs he's taken that make me believe he's played center for at least a handful of games per season, and it's not just "set plays in the offensive zone" the Avs fan said it was.
