First off I agree that he is asking to much for Marner, 2nd I rather keep Murray and our first that's giving up to much for a back up goalie. Leafs need to stop trading their draft picks

Marner
I have stated that I'm all for trading Marner, but not in a one for one deal. Moving a star winger for another star winger doesn't really make and sense. If you want yo trade marner for and someone equal in talent than it should be for a stud Right shot D man.

Marner needs to be humbled
I'm all for moving marner but that is not good enough. If a marner happens it would be for the benefit of the team, not to humble Marner.
People seem to be making a big deal about him getting benched. I missed the game so I don't know the reason. But I wish more coaches would have the balls to bench their star players, if the coach feels like a player is not giving it his all than I 100% than I support the coach benching a player.
Hell I wish Keefe would stick Matthews up in the pressbox for a game or 2. I really like Matthews but I think winning the the heart trophy last season has got to his head. He needs to be knock down a few peggs

I agree Marner needs to go, but not for a rental player like Kane. Plus Kane has siad a number of times that he does not want to play on a Canadian team.

No it doesn't it selling off more of the future. They are way to make good big trades with cap doing the season, but most Gm are to afraid to attempt it

Trading away more of the Leafs future is not a good think. If I was Shanny and Dubas came to me with this trade idea I would fire him on the spot.
Leafs are past being a band aid fix. One of the core 4 need to go.

I accept that you feel that way, I just think if the leafs trade marner they need more back.aldo the leafs don't need another LD. If Hughes was a right shot I would be more will to consider it.

Matthews to Montreal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>I have tried to apply logic.
All offensively gifted players want to play creative hockey. Being jammed into a defensive system hampers their ability to score.
The extreme version of this is Caufield with Ducharme. Matthews is totally unengaged with Keefe right now, you don't think it's the one thing that changed A.K.A the defense-first system he is trying to implement?
Marner and Matthews, two of the most creative and offensively gifted forwards in the league, are being stifled.</div></div>
Keefe is not stifled Matthews and Marner he is trying to get the whole team to be more responsible defensively. Marner and Matthews and trying to tune Keefe out because Keefe called them out after the first 4 games

Calm small moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jaok3</b></div><div>Tavares has a NTC contract and Matthews is the best scorer in the league so who do you move Marner or Willie. Comparing them, Marner is the only player on the leafs that is on the #1 unit in every situation and last season was a first team all-star. Now Willie is supposed to be a great goal scorer and he is but Marner's best season of 35 goals is more than Willies best season. Willie last season had 80 points and Marner had 97 in 9 less games. Willie was a -9 and Marner was a +23. You will definitely get more for Marner in a trade, but he is by a mile the better player.</div></div>
All those reason you listed are exactly why I think the leafs should consider moving Marner. It's nothing against Marner it's about getting the best value that can help this team win now, but also get some draft picks so the leafs can restock the cupboards as well

Leafs 2022 Trades Including Marner
My first issue is that isn't enough for Marner. I'm all for trading Mitch but if all the leafs guy back was avg top 6 forward and a bottom pairing D man I would be calling for the Gm head.
The Chychrun is interesting but I don't see the yotes doing it as the have stated they want a D back.
As for the kings trade I don't have enough time before work to break that one down.

Oh I agree I don't think the Nucks would do it. I'm just saying I would want package for Marner and not just trade him for a D man. I will be doing my own Nucks leafs Marner trade, down the road. It's not that I think the Canucks are the right fit. I am going to do a marner trade with every nhl

My issue with these trade is it weakens the leafs forward group to much . I'm all for trading on of the big 4,. Also I would want more back for Marner than just Hughes.

Breaking up the Band 3
Hey yeah I like that idea, using the other team side. As you are right I know the leafs cap off the top of my head. As for the players I choose on Boston, this one was done a bit lazy. I really don't know anything about most of the Bruins players.
I'm going to put in more research time on my next marner trade.

Breaking up the Band 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SociallyHawkward</b></div><div>I'm hoping for atleast a 23' first. Which will be a late first cus he'll only waive for a contender. And I'd hope Davidson can pull a top 50 forward prospect in the league. That's the baseline I try to hold other armchair gm's to. Now if Kane gives a list of 4-5 teams he will accept a trade to then the price probably goes up a bit. If he gives a list of 1 or 2 teams then the price probably goes down a bit. A 23' first rounder should be guaranteed in any Kane trade tho.
For example say Toronto gets their goaltending in order and looks like the contender they should be, I'd hope Davidson could pull knies and Torontos 23' first for Kane half retained. If Toronto needs to add a kerfoot and holl for cap purposes then I'd expect a 2nd round pick for taking those contracts as well.</div></div>
Thanks for you're insight Hawkward. You have been great to talk hockey with. I think I'm going to change up my asking price for Marner.

Breaking up the Band 3
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Could be, it depends on what the quality of the prospect. I made a joke ACGM with Marner going to SEA had a bit less but the players that were coming in had term.
The package from Boston is underwhelming though, Hall and Forbort are both 30, and have the same or less term as Marner. Beacher must be a top prospect and with the 2 1sts you get some nice value, but the roster players are probably not the right pieces. To make matters worse, the Leafs are sending Marner to a division rival. Perhaps the biggest thing they are getting is the cap space.</div></div>
Yeah in the real world this trade never happens. I plan on doing a similar Marner trade with every NHL team. Boston is my most hated team so I wanted to get it out of the way early.

If I'm spending the insane price to acquire marner it's because I have a hole at top 6 winger. I wouldn't pay this price to just upgrade the wing position.</div></div>

Holl + (difference between 2nd and 3rd) for cap relief

Ok but I still don't see the need for this trade Holl is not really that overpaid and the leafs should be able to trade is contract without keeping any salary.
Also I like Schenn but I don't see any in the leafs top 6 D that he is going to push out, and don't say Holl he shouldn't be in the leafs top 6 either
