Marner Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chopper02</b></div><div>No...just no. Marner is a terrific playmaker but the Blues should not have a guy with that kind of cap hit on their team. Go for Nylander instead.</div></div>
First of all, Toronto never takes that deal, Tarasenko is a 29 year old injury prone player, his value is no where near Marner even with his contract.
We do not and will not move any of our top 4 players. If we are it won't be for some **** cap dumb like this

Marner Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blues4TheCup</b></div><div>why?</div></div>
1. Tarasenko is VERY injury prone 29 year old who hasn't had a 80 point season vs Marner who is 23 years old who has put up (on pace) three 90 point seasons in a row.
2. Vince Dunn + the 1st are nice assets but aren't the value someone who finished top 5 in scoring.

Nylander and Holl for Labanc Burns Half Retained and a 2nd
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CheechYou</b></div><div>For sure agreed about the 8mil, but that's why he'd be at 4mil AAV with TOR with this trade proposal, which makes him (IMO) a very good asset and kind of what TOR needs. All series the dmen had trouble keeping pucks in on the blueline, which Burns does really well, and getting shots through from the point.
Having said that I think in principle TOR should keep Nylander and trade Marner for 2 guys who'll take up the same ~11mil AAV cap hit.</div></div>
Forgot about the retention on my second comment, my bad. If we are going to trade Nylander (IMO Nylander shouldnt be traded), I would rather it for a younger defensemen.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CheechYou</b></div><div>Burns is still a very good player who ate up over 27 minutes a game on AVERAGE this season. He's not slowing down at all. The gripe with him is his 8mil cap hit, not his age. And that's taken care of here.</div></div>
Even pretending like burns don't slow down till 40 this is not a good trade for Toronto. They are downgrading on Nylander to take a bad contract, he is not worth 8 million AAV right now, mind as well in 4 years

Toronto says Hard no. Even with that retention, nobody wants that contract till the age of 40. Nylander is better Lebanc so not sure why we are paying extra to take on Burns awful contract.

My Overreaction to the Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lunatik</b></div><div>Right, I forgot a bad year (where the entire line was bad) and an injury = heavily declining, completely ignoring that Monahan was having a great year before the injury. Also, Andersson doesn't suck at defense, he was put in a role he wasn't ready for and struggled. But I wouldn't expect you to know anything about defense outside of defending your team through one laughable failure after another</div></div>
You know when a defensemen finsinhed 11th worst in defence wins above replacement (https://twitter.com/JFreshHockey/status/1397282957933617155/photo/1) it means they are bad at defense. I'll admit in my frustration cause of the recent loss my wording is harsh, Monahan isn't heavily declining, but has been declining every year since 18-19, this year wasn't just an outlier, Monahan also is a defensive liability, Good on the powerplay at least (ours sucked at the end of the year). All in all this isn't near the amount needed to fetch Matthews

No he isn't 2018-19 Rielly but he is still an elite offensive defensemen
We just can't resign him in 2022, so getting assets back instead of letting him walk is why you might see him in a lot of AGM's

Thinking about the Offszn
This makes no sense, like at ALL.
1. Trading Holl makes ZERO sense, he is being payed bottom pair defensemen money while being an okay #4.
2. Trading Engvall Mikheyev also makes no sense they have done a good job in a shutdown role and on the PK.
3. NOBODY in those reverse list will get ANY Assets, literally NOTHING
4. I like the idea of moving Kerfoot, Dermott, Petan
5. Summarize paying an extra 3 million dollars for a tiny upgrade on Holl, which ****s our depth makes NO sense.

Because of the position Toronto is in (Rielly potentially walking next Free Agency), Sandin's price will have to be an overpay. So probably a lot more than you would want.

That's hopeful thinking, I doubt we have to dump Kerfoot's contract. He had an off year production wise, and unless we go after a large free agent we have the cap space to replace/resign our UFA's, ESPECIALLY if we don't resign Andersen.
