Tell me how this makes a team that only cares about winning the cup better, or is even fair value. CMC would laugh the Isles off the phone if that’s what they offered.</div></div>
He’s their 3C and I don’t know if you’ve looked at what the Colorado cap situation is for next season, but you should definitely take a glance. $2 mil to retain upwards of 8 players. That can’t even be done with league minimum signings.

Arizona would laugh all the way to the playoffs with this trade. My god, as an Islanders fan, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!

Love the aggression. Dobson likely gets at least $6 mil per. The ONLY downside to find right off the bat, next year you have to move guys in desperation for cap space to keep others. This roster will look very different next season.

Forget Andy Green and give another $2 mil and more years to Dobson now to save money later (hopefully). I think this is actually ok. Impressive. Lol

Caps decline, Anaheim declines and TB immediately makes Bellows a 25 goal scorer for free. Lol. Plus there is no reason for Gaudreau to leave.

HA! That's not me dreaming. I hope he stays there the length of the contract. They'll never win a cup with the roster built like this.

Bruins Rebuild Roster
Non-Bruins fan here but I like it. Trades seem fair but not really sure if they match team needs. The Detroit one is interesting because they're adding multiple pieces for Larkin and have a ton of cap space. They can work backwards and start extending people beyond the coming season and plan for what's left to spend in this offseason. They also have a ton of draft picks to move for players if they wanted as well.

Fortunately, or unfortunately I guess it depends on how you look at it, Dobson is one of those players that's not getting a true bridge deal. Right now he's worth at least $5 mil per and at worst he maintains where he is right now. He'll like get better, fast, My guess is $6 mil x 6 years. And that's him being loyal. I can see a team like Seattle with a lot of excess draft picks Offer Sheeting him at $8 mil x 7 years. They can afford the money/picks and makes a huge splash in the immediate. Again, this is just my opinion though.

Come on man, you want Seattle to give up Gourde AND retain half of his salary?! If I'm Seattle, I hold Toronto hostage for that deal. Leave the 3 players and add 2 1s and 2 2s.

Dobson gets way more, Toronto won't take that and we can do better than the Washington trade. I like the thinking in getting a winger though.

Summer of Kawhi
I don't know about anyone else, but the Kawhi comments make me think of Matthews, Tavares and Marner. Those 3 are the only ones that net you the return in cap space or multiple players that the Leafs need to be better balanced and a much better playoff team.

You can, you just have to have him approve it. Take away his C and drop him to the 4th line and see if he wants to stay.

Trade Tavares and now you can keep Reilly and still get better defense and goaltending.

LOL agreed. There is no way Tavares moves to wing and if Giordano is going to play anywhere cheap next year, it's back in Calgary.
The only way the Leafs get better is if they get rid of Tavares and spend that money on defense and goaltending.

Dubas is awful. He signed Tavares for too much money and no reason, Marner for too much money and completely hamstrung the team's cap space to provide good defense and goaltending. If you expect to win with a goalie like Campbell, you need a good defense in front of him. I don't know why anyone would be shocked that Toronto is out in the first round again. Can't win games 5-4 and 6-5 every night in the playoffs.

I firmly believe Matthews isn't going to re-sign in Toronto so get what you can and move on, but again, just my opinion. You can absolutely get more for him but I liked your explanation and breakdown of everything. Also keep in mind, everyone gets **** on for their trades. It's either way too much, or not even close. Soft Rains of April
Hard pass on Pageau and Cizikas moving anywhere. If anything I say we move Barzal to the wing with Lee and Nelson and bump Pageau up. Raty can definitely slot into the 3rd line role of the team. He's getting the feel for the NA Game in the AHL playoffs right now. He'll have a full camp and preseason to further adjust as well. He'll be as set as any other rookie going into the league right away.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>Seattle would move Soucy because futures are going to be more important to them than a 27 year old LD.
Boston thinks about moving Reilly because they've got 4 LD signed for next season (Lindholm/Grzelcyk/Reilly/Forbort) and those last 2 are the most movable for them.</div></div>
Boston will have a little more than $4 mil in cap space with Bergeron to bring back. If he continues to play, he'll be there for less than that $4 mil. They're all set with no reason to make any moves. Seattle also already has a ton of draft picks. With all of their expiring contracts, I don't think they can afford to be trading more players away unless they're getting multiple in return. Call me crazy, Seattle doesn't exactly scream UFA destination the way that Vegas did in the beginning.

I don't understand the want for Reilly and Soucy, and the need to trade Pageau. Sorry this isn't directed at you personally, it's a trend I've been noticing in these created teams. Lol

Just my opinion, from an Isles perspective, Miller could have had one REALLY good season finally in his career. If all of those pieces are moving, I'm going for Boeser. Keep in mind also Miller is going to try and HEAVILY cash in on an extension. I feel like with all of those pieces and picks the Isles can get someone with term already on contract at a better value than what Miller will be asking for.

I've been done with Beau for some time now. He'd be easier to move and would still bring back at least a decent draft pick too. I'm all for it.
