Long term with Ehlers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>So in order to get Ehlers,
we’d not only have to give up Savoie & a top10 pick,
we’d also (essentially) have to give up Skinner, plus Rosen &
a 2nd to get someone to take his contract
I like Ehlers- a lot actually- but there’s no way he’s worth all that either.
We really don’t need to make big crazy moves
Just need a top4 RD, & a bit more time for the kids to grow up & mature.
Don’t forget, we are the youngest team in the league,
and will likely be even younger next season (since it’s probably Okposo, Comrie & Girgs’ last year with us)
I know it’s not happening as fast as we all want,
but we really are in the right track</div></div>
Skinner will need to be moved or bought out anyway to give Tuch and Quinn pay raises so not so much an Ehlers move. I don't think we can wait any longer, our window was open last season, wasted an open window this season, and now Dahlins and Powers deals kick in so there is real urgency to get in the playoffs next season especially with Tampa and Toronto showing decline + Boston will have to come back down to earth sometime, I'd rather be prepared for it

Long term with Ehlers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChevelsDayOff</b></div><div>as much as savoie and the first are tempting (along with curiousity of seeing what thompson+ehlers would look like), i selfishly dont want the jets to do it</div></div>
Totally understand your hesitancy to trade a player like Ehlers, but if they aren't willing to utilize him I would say that they would probably be willing to trade him for a young forward with great top 6 potential and a pick that will probably be a top 4 defenseman

Playoff roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caps123</b></div><div>First, WSH declines, Krebs was overhyped to make the Eichel trade look better. Second, this is not a playoff roster. BUF fans have become almost as delusional as TOR fans. BUF has seven (Skinner, Peterka, Benson, Mittelstadt, Olofsson, Krebs, and Quinn) undersized playmaking forwards, with varying degrees of skill, and questionable goaltending. At best BUF squeaks into the playoffs and gets absolutely mauled in the first round by Boston.</div></div>
Peterka, Quinn, and Mittelstadt aren't undersized. Krebs & Olofsson aren't on this roster so that leaves 2 players and Skinner has proven that he can produce without being bigger. So much for your rant

Sabres get a sure thing with Zegras and ducks get a great prospect that has a lot of promise. We have so many prospects and I like Kulich and Ostlund more and we can add another elite prospect at the draft

While I agree I feel like we need to shake up that defense core by 2 piece at least. Roy and DeMelo are veteran guys that know how to actually defend and can mentor the next Era of Sabres defense

Stay the course
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Czu8iks</b></div><div>Sabres cannot buyout Skinner. In crucial 26/27 season his dead cap hit will be 6,4mil. If this biggest dead cap hit was for next season, that will be an option, but he is still good and cap is not an issue, yet.
But preferably it will go like this - Skinner plays next season, and then Sabres will be looking to cap dump his 2 years remaining. Cap hit will be 2x9 mil but only 12 mil in real dollars - definately possible to cap dump him.</div></div>
Thought about this, but he has a NMC and the teams that can take on that kind of cap dump are typically bad teams, Skinner most likely won't waive to play on a bad team

Butcher is better than Skjei. You are upgrading your 2nd pair LHD and at a really reduced salary

Most logical Eichel trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>xxToothxx</b></div><div>Hahaha....
No chance.
Necas, Jarvis Bear are top young players for Canes.
Get a clue.... NOBODY WANTS JACK THIS BAD.
AS THIS POST, NOBODY IS APPARENTLY TRYING TO TRADE FOR EICHEL.
Everyone has dropped out bc they are not giving up 4 1st for a injured, overpaid player with attitude/ maturity issues.</div></div>
Just because the Rangers trade away Buchnevich for pennies and then act like Schneider is an absolute untouchable in an Eichel trade doesn't mean you need to dunk on people with actual good ideas.
Nobody is getting a young superstar talent with term left for a couple of AHLers, a cap dump, and a 2nd.
This trade makes sense, even with necas leaving they have Eichel, Trocheck, and Staal down the middle with Rees and Suzuki in the system there shouldn't be much of a worry
